Someone here was saying that United is no longer a force in the transfer market and that United doesn't offer anything more than C*ty. Well, both Kagawa and van Persie snubbed C*ty for us.

United offers something that money cannot offer: a great atmosphere in the dressing room, no egocentric and trouble making players like Tevez or Balotelli, great relationships between players, coaching staff and the manager etc. None of this kind of bull****:

They are stupid, and their fans too.

They just started to be part of the big game, I guess mistakes are normal.
But I didn't expect them to achieve this much very fast.

I think that's old cliche that money can't buy glory. Chelsea and now City achieved almost everything with big investment.

He took Fabio's #20. He already started training.

Van Persie proud to join Reds

The 29-year-old told a press conference on Friday: "I'm proud to be here and looking forward to achieving big things with Manchester United.

"Arsenal are a big club but for me it's a big challenge to get to know players here.

"I had a good session this morning – I noticed every single person was really helpful. It's a friendly club like I'm used to, so it's not a big difference. The language is the same."

He continued: "Everyone knows by now that I'm a lover of football. I'm quite principled in that prospect. It's always difficult to find a perfect match but I do feel this is the perfect match for me.

"Man Utd breathe football. If you look at all players at the club, the stadium and the manager, my choice was made based on those things. When I have to make hard decisions, I always listen to little boy inside me and what he wants. That little boy was screaming for MU."

Fergie: RvP only wanted United

"It wasn't an easy one," said Sir Alex. "Understandably, Arsene Wenger didn't want to sell to Manchester United - he's already mentioned that in the morning papers. The boy wanted to come to us and that's important. He turned down various clubs to join us because he wants the challenge of coming to the biggest club in the world. I think that's fantastic.

"That's what swung it and what made it possible. If he hadn't come out forcibly to Arsenal to tell them he wanted to go to Manchester United, it meant the negotiations were really over - the only negotiation left was agreeing a fee with Arsenal as there was no-one else in the picture because the boy wanted it and was desperate to come to Manchester United."

When asked if the opportunity to sign a player of van Persie's calibre was simply too good to resist, he replied: "You can't turn that down. I didn't think it was possible we could get van Persie when we talked about it last year but, when I heard he'd refused to sign a new contract and made it publicly known that he wanted to leave Arsenal, then we had to be interested - there's no question about that.

"I spoke to David Gill and David spoke to the Glazer family and we got the ball rolling but that wassome months ago. It's been a long haul and it's not been an easy one but, thankfully, we've got him here."

The signing has given everybody a real boost at Old Trafford but the manager admits he'll have plenty of headaches trying to pick his team.

"It's not going to be easy," he stated. "I've brought a complication to my life now really.

"I think absolutely it had to be in my estimation for bringing Robin here [to combine him with Wayne Rooney]. We had to say: 'What would be the combination?'. Robin can actually play in two or three positions as he has done at Arsenal. But last season proved what his best position was - No1, furthest up the pitch. 37 goals and 30 league goals - that itself tells you what his best position is.

"My situation now is I have the possibility that I can play Rooney through, van Persie through, Chicharito through and I've got Danny Welbeck, who can play through. I've also got Shinji Kagawa playing in that hole behind and he's a fantastic, young footballer. That's my dilemma and was also have young Federico Macheda, who is only 20 years old and still improving."

Funny that he didn't even mention Berbatov...

You're so fast ... just saw the picture on facebook ...
Berba transfer is a formality, he will not even have bench spot this year.

btw, who's that young lad in the second pic?

Edit: I really like the way Rio supports new and young players, he's a great individual.

Yeah, especially since others are complete assholes, who told van Persie to **** off back to London, when he showed up to train.

I actually think his mind games at the end of last season were very effective and contributed to the City title win.... admittedly he is stretching it a bit far now......

Help?

Great post, but his signing brings along some negatives although I think it has much more positives. Remember when we bought Berbatov? Tevez was dropped to the bench, was pissed off and decided to leave. Tevez was a special case though. He's a ****.

And I do trust Ferguson. He knows what he is doing and I'm sure he discussed with Rooney and Kagawa about any possible change in position if van Persie were to come. Can't wait for Monday!

RvP fits us however. He is good at quick counter-attacking football. Berbatov was slow before we got him. Spurs constantly kept complaining how he just sulks around. And RvP's attitude is always top notch, unlike Tevez

I think "mind games" are all bull****. It's just that managers can't get criticized if they play down their chances because the press will say "what a genius with these mind games" and if things don't go well they'll be like "he must have known they weren't that good, he was saying it all along".

We have a very hard opening matches this year, should play Everton, Liverpool, both away, Fulham and Spurs in first 6 matches.

Think Fergie goes with RvP tomorrow? That's a tough opening match for a debut when you can just go with Kagawa and Rooney.

He said he's gonna play with RvP but you never know with him. I think he should play with Kagawa and Rooney too. Its too early to start with van Persie in such a tough game.
