since wen are you a united supporter, since now that u beat us ? fkn glory hunter. Anyways on a good note, was an exciting game to watch but nail bitting stuff for me right at the end, really thoguht we were going to get an equaliser, but wasnt to be.
ROFL, you messed him up with Sir Didier*FC.

Anyways, i am glad we won, but i am probably one of the very few that is not happy with the game. We played superbly for 30 minutes, until Fletcher scored with a header, which by the way meant to be a lob and not a cross, on the replay you could see Fletcher looking at the net and mesuaring the lob. After that for 60 minutes we were pretty much getting dominated. And no, it wasn't because Chelsea got angry and they showed how much more skill we have. It was because our players couldn't believe that they are actually leading against Chelsea and instead of pressing for more, they decided to defend. Thank god Chelsea is off-form lately, because 20-5 is just not gonna cut it for us. VDS, lots of luck and crappy Drogba helped us win today a lot. But the performance for the last 60 min was ****, it looked like champions playing the relegation battle team, which i don't like.

Thankfully we won, but a lot of people here look at this game, like United matched Chelsea. By no means did we match them, Chelsea was better today, that's a fact.

i think the man u fans are downsizing this win too much! a lot of positives came out of the game. we played well with a 4-4-2 system, which might even suit smith in midfield (get fletcher out, he tried to head it back across goal). the players showed passion and determination. chelsea may have dominated, but they were never gonna score. RVN should have scored, scholes was unlucky. i thought Park did very well when he came on. 3 points against chelsea is a move in the right direction, now fergie should start learnin from his mistakes! the ref was trigger happy with his yellow card wasn't he?

i am not downsizing anything, i am perfectly happy with a win. But just read pages 6-8 (before the goal) and then read pages 10-13 (after the goal). midfield battle was lost after that goal and that is worrying, on another day, chelsea would have taken their chances. It's not like i sit in a dark corner and mumble to myself, about how bad United did  .

When another defensive team comes, we will have trouble, mark my words.

We LET Chelsea back into the game. For most of the second half we stopped passing the ball around like in the first, and resorted to punting the ball out of our own half under pressure. We could've easily kept on pushing them, but I think when Chelsea reverted to 4-4-2, then 3-4-3 our players were afraid to push up because of the amount of Chelsea players in our half. They didn't want to slip up, or leave any spaces for Chelsea so they saturated their own half. If we kept on pressing the game, there would've been a lot more goals, both for us and for Chelsea.

Few thoughts...

Chelsea weren't outplayed today like they were by Betis. At the same time, it wasn't like United got ridiculously lucky. Chelsea had their chances but to me, it just felt like they would never score and they didn't. United should have scored through Ruud and doubled their lead which would have made this win a little less nervy.

Joe Cole is useless. I don't understand what people see in him.

Also, Chelsea have an attack that seems so lackadaisical at times. Perhaps Crespo would have made a difference but Gudjohnsen, Drogba and Carlton Cole are soooo average. Compare them to the attacks of the other top teams in England and Europe and their lack of quality is apparent.

If only Liverpool play in the league like they do in the CL, we'd have a far more interesting league.

Till then.... Go Wigan!

Yes chelsea dominated the possession in 2nd half, but what clear cut chances did they have? How many great saves did Van der sar have to make? I only can recall 1. We had more chances.

I may have to disagree you like i disagreed all those other Anti-United wankers, United had to defend.
Those bastards were trying to justify that Chelsea was not the most boring team and tried to point the finger at United and "prove" United was the more defending team becuz of today's performance.
Please be frank, our midfield and defence are crapper than Chelsea's in every way, we know we need to hold back and try to keep the result.
If we try to push it up too much, of course we have the chance to bag in a couple more goals. But most probably is the other way round, which is we would concede some goals.
Chelsea is huge, no doubt. That's why we need to hold back a little after getting that one goal.

Do you support Man Utd aswell? (just asking!). Anyway, maybe the guy is being a little realistic eh? Man Utd in the good times would've pissed all over Chelsea at Old Trafford. They got played off the park and won with a lucky goal - Fletcher tried to flick it on for somebody else, and of course, he missed it. The ball went in, for EPL's sake.

Nope, I don't ;) . But most (not all) Man Utd fans can never be satisfied. They moan about this and that, when they've just beaten the best team in the country.

The reality is 1-0 to the Red Devils.

I've never been more delighted this week than today. We deserved our win despite being mauled in the second half. Let's hope we don't slip up against Charlton like we did against Portsmouth last year after beating Arsenal.

yea but at least the ball CLEARLY CROSSED THE LINE... *cough* Luis Garcia *cough*

I dont think we were mauled by chelsea the entire 2nd half... maybe the first 20 mins but we did some good counter attacking and shud have punished them. Cummon dont expect a total dominating performance after all chelsea are the champions and champions respond whenever they are losing. We just had to defend whatever they threw at us and we did that brilliantly.

So true. Smithy was the key to our victory and he said that Keano inspired the team and help United win. I just LOVE Alan Smith...legend in the making
