Don't doctors often wear runners? I know nurses do at least.

Lots of people wear runners at their job if they have to walk around a lot. I'd prefer comfortable sneakers over what nady posted. Just my taste though.
Especially doctors in hospitals, as opposed to GPs spending most of their time sitting down in a practice

Bought these soccer shoes because they were on sale.

They look kind of girly to me but I don't care. On first wear I really liked them, they were light so I felt like I had more control of the ball / of my movement. So I'm glad the purchase worked out.

Bought these on sale too. Haha, googling them I just realized they are indoor soccer shoes. They are comfortable so I'm just wearing them casually. Now I understand why they were in the soccer aisle.. doh.

I bought these as well and for the same reason (H), but for the artificial turf.

Yeah, I've been playing only in mercurials for 6-7 years. They're basically the same every time, just different colors. Takes a little time until they get softer though.

And btw, the other ones are easy to tell they're for football just looking at the outsole. And they look pretty good, but for football not casual wear..

Practical for being in your feet behind a coffee bar for 8-10 hours is something certainly classed as "practical". Same when I worked at Ikea in the kitchen. Loads of people had these types of shoes. But that's it. Never anywhere people will see your feet

Good shoes that are properly fitted are comfortable.

I have some insane shoes too. These ones

No way. It's all about the sole. If you're standing on a concrete or tiled floor for 8+ hours a cushioned sole is a must.

I had a really nice pair of leather shoes (that fitted perfectly) that I bought when I was at Starbucks and after my first couple of shifts wearing them at work my back and legs were killing me. It's not about your feet getting sore necessarily.

There is no way you can claim proper shoes are as comfortable as sneaker styles, otherwise there'd be no need for sneakers in the first place.

Perhaps, outside of your current job where I'm sure shoes are standard, you've not had a job where you're on your feet enough.

In any case, the shoes have no place in a fashion thread.

I think his point was that buying all the clothes that a millionaire wears is a futile endeavor. At least, I hope that was his point.

Ridiculous, so glad I decided to never become a famous football player.

Who knows how utterly stupid and ugly my wardrobe would be.

The straps on them sneakers are wider than the sneakers themselves.

Aren't you a doctor? Don't you have to dress up often? You can't wear those shoes with anything other than scrubs, and even that makes you look like a cheapskate.

I am a family doctor. I usually wear shirt, trousers, no tie. So pretty much business casual wear. Thats how doctors dress in Canada and yes a lot of us wear running shoes to work. Anything that is comfortable since we often have to walk a lot especially when working in a hospital setting.

In general this is how we usually dress up:

No need for classic/dressy/shiny shoes with this kind of attire.

EDIT: Also Crocs are very common in the operating theatre which involves hours standing.

EDIT 2: A Cheapskate while wearing Clarks shoes? Never heard of that.

In the snow?

You're crazy. You must be talking about the snow on the equator of the planet Mercury. That's the only snow that you would be able to tolerate with those slip-ons.

They are not very well insulated but they are waterproof so they are perfect if there is sludge. They are not insulated enough for prolonged exposure to snow.
