He would be ideal in a 4-5-1 formation. He'd be a great target for Gonzales and Figo to whip those crosses in. Seriously, his height is such a threat, he would be really useful. But not more than 3mil.

peter crouch is an average player who had a good season but Livepool have too many forwards to want his tall ass

Cisse

You can add Kewell, Luis Garcia and Le Tallec to the list, as they can play up top too!

My thoughts as well. All that height must add up to something.......but i might be wrong. Anyway i'd put him at no more than 2million.

Sissoko snub to Mourinho
Jul 11 2005
By Chris Bascombe, Liverpool Echo

LIVERPOOL fought off a late bid by Chelsea to secure a £5m deal for Mohamed Sissoko, it emerged today.

The Mali international arrived at Melwood for his medical this morning as Reds boss Rafael Benitez enjoyed his second transfer coup within a week over the Premiership champions following their failure to sign Steven Gerrard.

Everton's delay securing 20-year-old Sissoko seven days ago opened the door for Benitez, who has tracked the youngster since he left Valencia.

Chelsea tried to hi-Carlos the deal at the eleventh hour only for Sissoko, who was expected to be paraded with goalkeeper Jose Reina later today, to pledge his future to Anfield.

"We hope to finalise all the details today and present Sissoko and Reina at a press conference," confirmed Benitez..

"We have been talking with the player since we knew he was available and once we made our move for him we knew how much he wanted to play for us. We also knew it would be difficult to sign him because Everton and another club wanted him.

"I'm delighted he chose Liverpool because he is a good player for the present and the future of the club. He has played right-back but that is not his best position. I see him as a strong central midfielder.

"He plays a high energy game with a high tempo.

"He's young, he's not bad on the ball and he will improve the balance of our team.

"He's had two good years with Valencia where he has won trophies. I know him well and he's a very good player."

Yep, crazy like a EUROPEAN CUP WINNING fox. Given Rafa's track record I think that I'll just trust the guy's judgement. Also, the fact that Crouch scored a lot of goals for a team which was relegated makes the tally more and not less impressive.
Yer down on a guy who has scored consistently all season while holding Baros-who I don't believe has scored a single competetive goal this year-up as an example of who we've got. Doesn't seem to make much sense IMO.

Is Liverpool broke or something? How come 2 mil for Figo is too much? You're getting a killer bargain for 2 mil.

Not sure. It seems like it's about Rafa taking a stand against Madrid's bullsh*t as much as anything else. He has made a point of saying that he will never pay over the odds for a player and whilst 2 million isn't exactly a lot for someone like Figo the guy was supposed to be free. Everything was ticking along nicely and all of a sudden Madrid come out with "oh, did we say free? no, in fact we'll be wanting 2 million pounds."

When did we say we'd give him up for free?

For Figo, you are lucky not to have to pay 4 times that.

I doubt Figo would say he'd be allowed to leave Madrid for free if there wasn't at least a verbal agreement... but spoken word doesn't count for anything these days, does it?

Since I'm buried under a tonne of work, it seems as good a time as any to share these PES/WE faces with youse. Still without some, such as Sissoko, Warnock, Welsh, Whitbread, Raven, Barragan, Le Tallec, Josemi etc but if you are in possession, giz a shout. :ewan:

I even have Crouchy!

Its probably because Rafa's willing to offer(God knows why!!!!)10mil for Crouch. Also Figo's gonna be top flight material for at most a season or 2 more. & his salary's pretty high as it is anyway.

From the Daily Post...

The 32-year-old had a verbal agreement with Real Madrid that he could leave on a free transfer, only for the Bernabeu outfit to this week go back on their word once Liverpool moved to close the deal.

As for us being lucky not to pay 8million for a 32 year old close to the end of his contract and not being used by the club, well I can't see the basis for that theory.

EWAN: Mellor looks like someone just stole his last pie. Well agro. Pretty good faces though. Your work?
