Morientes > Cisse apart from counterattack football and I don't think you'll be playing much of it with such a strong midfield next season.

Well, a good result plus especially a good run out for the lads today.
The majority of the team got 45 mins each with two different XI's.

Starting XI:- Reina, Finnan, Carra, Hyypia, Warnock, Potter, Gerrard, Hamann, Zenden, Cisse, Morientes.

Finishing XI:- Dudek, Raven, Josemi, Whitbread, Riise, L.Garcia, Alonso, Welsh, Warnock, Le Tallec, Baros.

WREXHAM 3 Jones 7, McAvily 72, Carlos 81
LIVERPOOL 4 Morientes 16,41, Baros 51,71

Man of the match:- Milan Baros (Looked the sharpest player out there today and scored a wonderful 2nd goal on the volley from an Alonso chip.)

This was the only image I could find of the LFC keeper kit

It's the same style as the other new Reebok GK's

Anyway I was at the game loved it when we went 1-0 up, fair do's Baroš's second goal was good (shame we gave him a gift for his first).

Sissoko spurns Blues for Reds and old manager
By Steve Tongue
Published: 10 July 2005

Liverpool have dealt their neighbours Everton a blow by agreeing a fee of around £6m with Rafael Benitez's former club Valencia for the Mali midfielder Lamine Sissoko, subject to a medical. Everton had hoped to sign Sissoko as well as his club-mate Emiliano Moretti, but may not now go for the left-back either.

"I know Sissoko well, he is a good central midfielder with high energy and experience of winning trophies," Benitez said after yesterday's opening friendly of the season at Wrexham. "We are trying to sign maybe two or three more players. We have some ideas about right wingers and [Real Madrid's] Luis Figo is one of them. [Southampton's] Peter Crouch is also a player I like." :jambo: (6) :hump:

Benitez also suggested that securing Steven Gerrard after all on a four-year contract was like signing a new player. "For sure it's one of my best signings," he said, "because we were thinking about losing our captain and one of our best players. Now we have Stevie and Jamie Carragher for four more years, two players who have played all their life at the club, which is very important. It's good for football, and really fantastic for us. I always had confidence that Stevie would stay, because the most important thing was that he understood what Liverpool and the supporters meant to him."

Gerrard confirmed that, although his protestations about how traumatic his week had been struck a discordant note after events in London on Thursday. "I've been depressed and confused and I wouldn't wish being in my shoes on any other person," was how he described the difficulties involved in debating whether to accept Liverpool's £100,000 per week or Chelsea's £125,000. "I didn't doubt the reception from the fans," he said. "I can understand people getting frustrated, but the majority realised what I was going through. I feel I've made the right decision and hope I can win the one [Premiership] medal that's missing, if not this year then during my contract."

He also insisted that there would be no further wavering in future years, though Liverpool may be as concerned as Arsenal and Manchester United that once such seeds are sown, they can easily become hardy annuals, as with Patrick Vieira and now Rio Ferdinand, whose decision to reject the offer on the table will infuriate Sir Alex Ferguson. Every such impasse creates further distrust on both sides and tends to end in a parting of the ways.

Hey im new here. Just wanted to see if people want Peter Crouch or not. Im a Liverpool fan and to be honest i dont think he's anything special and i dont really rate him.
As for Figo, he may be old, but he still has quality and will go well out on the left.

Starting XI
well, Rafa surely must see something in him. I saw him play a few times last season and he's really good. He's got talent to make it in this game, but is he good enough for Liverpool? I think he could possibly be. However, were he to arrive at Anfield, I think he'll become nothing more than a fringe player and have a similar role as Mellor and FloPo. We currently have Cissé, Baros, Morientes and Sissiko(only needs to pass the medical). as well as them we have TLT who will most likely play the same role as the first three strikers mentioned here. Really don't see them challenging Cissé and the gang for a first team place

when all this talk about the g8 and saving africa is going on it makes me sick to think anyone would pay over 6.5 million quid for the services of peter crouch!!!!!!

6 pound 50 pence is too much! hes utter shíte! i mean come on we are the european champions here! do you think if ac milan won the champions league they'de celebrate by signing peter crouch to partner shevchenko!!

I agree with you m8. Yer sure he did the job for Southampton, but that was a team who got relegated and with him being nearly 7 foot he could muscle his way through the lower teams defences, but that isnt going to win us the Premiership and with the players we've already got i think he would be a waste of money.
