The tackle on Voronin was a penalty. The Tottenham defender did not make an attempt to play the ball. A penalty AND a red card(foul inside the box) should have been the decision.

Skrtel and Carragher should have been taken off after their collision because neither was very effective after that.

It's day ONE of the new season and conspiracy theories are already flying around. That's perfectly normal when you're talking about Liverpool Football Club.

BTW, Lucas(to my surprise) and Johnson(also to my surprise) looked rather good.

Benayoun yet again proves to be one of your best assets. The spanish commentator was practically yelling 'goal' whenever he had the goal. Is it me or was Torres an absolute ghost? I think I saw more of Lucas than I did Gerrard, actually.

Anyway, losing to Tottenham isn't that bad, but honestly, they played better than you and dominated most of the match. I don't think I saw you keep posession for more than few passes, I dunno if that's down to Alonso leaving, but that needs to be fixed.

Man, I don't know how many times it can happen. I was in gym and just saw one second of the match and it was that gerrard goal.

it was just the first match so ... no draw in a first week. I think thats a record in EPL.

4-0 win over Stoke. Honestly, anything else and we'd be in a real mess. The Spurs defeat is still fresh.....next game will be big for us.

Guys, I must say I am very impressed with Glen Johnson so far. He's had a stunning start to the season.

As far as the Kyrgiakos is concerned, he won't be playing 90 minutes but will give us an option to rest a few regulars from time to time. He's more of an immediate fix kind of signing....we NEED help on defense....and we need it right now.

HAha, apparently, Rafa was on the verge of stepping down after he was denied transfer funds exceeding around 3 mill. GBP. So, apparently, getting rid of Rick Parry wasn't enough for Rafa to have have free reign over the spending. Well, that's what you get when you're dealing with such a big debt. For some reason, my first reaction was to laugh when I read this.

Meanwhile, Rafa's message to Torres was to focus on the game and quit getting involved in pitch politics. All in all, a very delicate situation......things aren't what they seem on the surface. With that gaping hole in CM, we have looked like a weakened side. Honestly, a top 4 finish would be good for this squad....especially if Rafa leaves and we bring in an inexperienced replacement.

Shifty Agger is out for 6 weeks, with a back injury. He's been flown to France for an operation...

Skrtel is out of who knows how long with a jaw injury.

Carragher played with 19 year old Daniel Ayala against Stoke. Either the new guy, Kyrgiakos, is thrown in against Aston Villa on Monday Night OR we stick with the 19 year old.

Villa are a shadow of their former selves(last season's selves that is) but they ain't no Stoke...........they lost their opener and lost 1-0 in the Europa league qualifier midweek so you know they'll be out to right that.

I've always known Johnson to be a good attacking full-back, however defensively I'm not sure he's improved since he went to Pompey. Can the Liverpool fans clarify his defensive performances in the previous games? or has he not been tested enough.

I remember the reason we shipped him out after bringing him back in was because he was always getting skinned by wingers.

Not sure how he is now. Maybe being England's current first choice has improved him to some degree, defensively that is.
