I didn't mind it when so many players left in recent years....Bellamy, Cisse, Baros, Owen, Kewell, Hyppia, Finnan BUT I think Alonso will leave. And there isn't a player on the planet that can give, to this club in the immediate future, what Xabi Alonso has given to Liverpool Football Club.

We don't stand a chance in hell without him.

By the way, in case you missed it yesterday:
Liverpool owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett have renegotiated a deal to pay back debt owed to the Royal Bank of Scotland and Wachovia.

Recent reports have suggested that the banks could call in their loans at any time, but the US duo have agreed to pay back £60 million from their own funds to extend the arrangement.

This means that the English Premier League club's debt will be reduced to £230 million, with the bank continuing to hold the loan for a further 12 months.

An initial £350 million loan was set to expire last week, with many of the club's fans concerned that Liverpool could end up in the hands of the government.

James McKenna from the Liverpool supporters' union Spirit of Shankly told the Liverpool Daily Post: "This is just an extension, we don't anticipate anything changing in the next 12 months.

"It gives Hicks and Gillett more time to make as much money as possible. We believe the government should have intervened and said 'enough is enough'."

Hicks and Gillett bought the club in 2007 for £174 million, taking on £44.8 million of liabilities, and put the club on the market last year for a reported £500 million, although no sale was concluded.

I can tell you something... as long as we are in debt we are not going to win a thing. We can´t be competitive if the other clubs have a lot more money for transfers and player payments. This useless Yankees should go home and sell the club to an Asian Millionaire.:coffe-anim:

BTW... Madrid´s bid for Arbeloa has been accepted, so we lost another good player for a little cash (3.5 Millions).

Arbeloa, who is set to finalise his move to Madrid, confirmed that Alonso had made his feelings known to Benitez.

"Xabi and I shared a room on tour and explained our situations to Benitez and he made us clear on the club's standpoint," he added.

Meanwhile, Torres has come out and said that he would be disappointed if Alonso left. Now, I'd like to keep Torres happy so that means that Rafa has to do everything to keep Xabi.

Personally, I don't know why he wants to leave in the first place. He's assured of a starting role at CM. His position is not under threat like it was last summer with the Garreth Barry situation. Sometimes, Madrid stick players on the bench for no reason. I think he'd get more playing time with us than he would with Real. It's not about the money.....it can't be. Xabi's sick of something. I just don't know what!

Not true. Look at United's situation in 2005. What did they do? Win the league in 07,08,09, 2 CL finals-1 win, 1 Carling Cup, FA Cup as well? A lot of clubs have debt....that doesn't automatically mean they can't win because of it. When you're in the upper echelon of European Football Clubs, you have to manage your debt while still being competitive.

I'm sorry, but blaming lack of trophies on debt is not acceptable. Try again.........

Wee need money if we want to sign better players and keep ours, so i can blame the debt for the lack of trophies because in recent years we have been forced into a sell to buy situation.

United started to win trophies again when Malcolm Glazer bought and gained full control of the team.

Erm, in recent years you've spent a ****load of money on dozens of players. To be fair though you've also sold a lot. Actually, I recall Pool spending more than we did in the last few years.

If you go back to when Roman bought the team(2003), then no we haven't spent as much as Chelsea. But from the summer of 2006 onwards, we may be pretty close...although I'm not certain.

Senior Squad
2009 (so far): Liverpool - £17.5, Chelsea - £18
2008: Liverpool - £38.5, Chelsea - £24
2007: Liverpool - £49, Chelsea £13.5
2006: Liverpool - £25.3, Chelsea - £35.5

Since 2006, you guys have been spending enormous amounts of money (in 2006, we paid £30.4 just for Shevchenko) and outspent us in 2007 and 2008, and maybe in 2009 too. So dont say we have been spending ****load of money here and there because we havent, and considering we're paying over the odds for players too. Summer 2003-2005 was a period where we spent nearly £250 on players but dont say you guys arent spending money.

Siawash

Senior Squad
2005: Liverpool - £12.8, Chelsea - £54.4
2004: Liverpool - £18.8, Chelsea - £96.05
2003: Liverpool - £3.5 , Chelsea - £119.95

In 2003, after Roman took over, we finished in 2nd plane, won the title in '04, and '05. In 2005, you guys finished in 5th place.

I think those amounts were necessary since Chelsea reconstructed its team and became potential contender for a title, as you mentioned they won title back to back after those spendings.

That's what I'm getting at. Only Lampard and Terry have survived (Cudicini too until he left for Tottingham) the Abramovich revolution. Liverpool arent spending like we did in 2003 but they are spending more than us and have nothing to show for it.

Err... No one has said that, Mandieta6 said we have been spending ****lod of money, so no one have criticized Chelsea, You guys are criticizing us.

It's not a criticism, it's a fact. You have spent a ****load of money, and have spent more than us in recent years. Counting the Abramovich Revolution years, Chelsea have spent more. But Chelsea have more to show for it and we needed to spend to get to where we are. Liverpool haven't required a revolution. You also have a very high player turnover for some reason. It's like 60+ players in and 50+ out in the Benitez era, with around 20 crossovers. And it's true, the Benitez era has seen you win 3 trophies (2 major), only. I'd say around half or less than either Chelsea or Utd. in the same timeframe.

Btw, Wikipedia have a whole article about the United - Liverpool rivarly, and did you know that ever since 2001, Liverpool have only won 3 matches? Two of which were last season though, so keep it up.

Alonso has handed in a transfer request. Mascherano's agent has said that if Barca come in with a large enough offer, that he Mascherano will leave.

As far as I'm concerned, those two ****ers can piss off!
