domination there from liverpool :D. Benayouns goal was the best i rekon. Hopefully Keane will score in the next game so he has a confidence boost before the start of the season.

While Rafa Benitez remains dead set on capturing the Aston Villa midfielder, Reds fans appear to be less enthused about his possible arrival at Anfield.

Chants of "you can stick your Gareth Barry up your a**e" were clearly audible during Liverpool's 1-0 win over Lazio as supporters on the Kop sang Xabi Alonso's name throughout the game.

....there was absolutely no doubt as to what the Kopites were saying: keep firm fans' favourite Alonso and do not waste a whopping £18 million on bringing in Barry (pictured, looking pensive at the prospect of pulling on a Villa shirt next season).

And they may well get their wish as today's back pages are filled with reports of a rift forming between the club's American owners and Benitez over the affair that threatens to rip the club apart.

Tom Hicks and George Gillett have refused to release sufficient funds to finance the Barry deal, leaving Benitez both baffled and fuming is roughly equal measures.

But the Spaniard refuses to give in just yet and has promised to sign another player before the start of the new season - it just might not be the one he set out to get in the first place.

Well, Liverpool is a famous club here. But the Klanen (VIF-supporters) song "Dere ekke fra Liverpool" who means "You're not from Liverpool" (With Rammstein - America melody) :D That was fun.

Benayoun had luck, because the ball wipped up and hit his leg. Not being to patriotic, if you look on the combination of VIF-goal, it was the best goal.

Now I'm looking forward to the Premier League-season. :33vff3o:

I totally agree with these fans here. Barry is not worth the price Villa are asking and Alonso is a quality player and should be kept.

I don't see with what's wrong with what the American owners are saying. They think that Barry is overpriced, and they're right. It's perfectly legitimate for owners to ask if the price is right and it's the best option for the club.
Perhaps if Moores had then we wouldn't have paid £10M for Diouf and £14M for Cisse!

Not exactly brilliant from Liverpool, but I'll take the three points...

Nice goal by Torres, even if he didn't have the best match. Keane's block on his shot was just too cruel on Robbie...

now, now... calm down, guys... sure, it wasn't the best match ever, but a win is a win, and it was only the first match of the season. Torres/Keane need more time to understand each other better. We won't win every match 3-0, and neither will Chelsea or Man U, so just take one match at a time.

This is the kind of win that we need though. We need to be able to win these tough road games..Sunderland really came to play.

I hope that Torres and Keane getting in eachother's way does not become a habbit.
