Liverpool want Amelia – agent Wednesday 13 December, 2006

Liverpool are very keen on signing Livorno goalkeeper Marco Amelia, according to the player’s agent.
The world champion has been recently associated with a move to Milan, who are searching for a new man between the posts as injured Nelson Dida has yet to renew his contract and his replacement Zeljko Kalac has failed to impress so far.
Livorno President Aldo Spinelli had also confirmed recently that the player was being tracked by a Premiership outfit and that has been confirmed on Wednesday afternoon.
“The main club interested in the player’s services is Liverpool, not Milan,” said agent Carlo Pallavicino to Radio Radio TV.
“The most interesting offer has come from England and Liverpool want to sign him as early as January,” he added.
“Milan? We have not had any contact with them, neither me nor the player, so I would consider it very strange if the Rossoneri thought they can offer him a deal at the last minute, without discussing it before,” concluded Pallavicino.
The Italian international is reportedly keen on leaving the Tuscan minnows, although Spinelli recently stated he was set to extend his agreement with Amelia, who is valued at more than £7m.
