Well deserved win, and Sporting could have won by a larger result...

Benfica was crappy today... as they're in their last games, but the diff. is that today we played against a powerful team...

But i think Benfica needed a "Reality Check"... they've been under-performing lately, and the UCL game is coming.... so, Benfica players needed this, to be aware that they're not Gods, juss becoz they're coming from 9 consecutive wins... they must be aware that they need to WORK HARD!!!

If they play like this against Liverpool, we'll have a repetition of the 0-7 thrash against Celta Vigo... :boohoo:

congratulations sporting...this as only made me more ashamed of my country's champions, i'm almost certain liverpool's gonna kick benfica's ass...but nevertheless, koeman is a very good coach, and good coaches alone have been keeping benfica from mid-table season endings in the pas seasons...

sporting had the best game of the season..if it wasn't for the penalty, it'd have been perfect. very good game, and liedson just raised the bar for 'filhos da puta' strikers, the man is just amazing when it comes to big games.

also congratulations to paulo bento..i just hope that porto can win in Luz too, and if sporting continues like this, a draw in Alvalade will be fantastic..

Congratulations to Sporting. Benfica was non-existent today. There wasn't anyone that made a decent game! The players didn't run or fight as they've been doing previously. They entered the field like it was already won, and when this happens and the other team works hard for the win it's completely fair, like it was today.

Now I'm hoping to see more will and spirit from the team in the next matches.

What a c*nt you are. It's not even your club (thank God) how can you be ashamed ? When Benfica won to Porto in Dragão were you ashamed ? You should be ashamed yes, for your club's miserable european campaign, that's when it was representing Portugal.

don't wanna make up excuses but Tonel made a clear penalty on Nuno Gomes that would have been the 2-0.

Beto's penalty was the most retarded thing I've ever seen, what a moron.

Did Manduca play? I didn't see him playing. I saw Geovanni though who only f*cked up. The defence was a complete hole from start to finish.


Anyway totally deserved win for Sporting, in probably the most one sided derby I can remember, although it still was stained.

Congrats for the 2ª circular championship, the only title you'll win this season.

Came now from the stadium and I just have to say that it's a fully deserved victory for Sporting. Congrats!

We were awful today. To put it better, I don't think we even entered the pitch. 0, an absolute 0, that's how our performance rates. Unfortunately, what I feared happened: the team that thought the game was won beforehand got a lesson of humility, just as it had happened the other way round last year. It was predictable.

Also, as Luis Ah-Hoy said, I think this is a much needed reality check. Of course, we aren't so bad as we were today, but we also clearly aren't as good as some thought during our winning streak. There's still a lot to play for and we can obviously still be champions, but I must confess I'm not very confident.

Filipower is just saying his usual crap and showing his enormous hatred for Benfica that is greater than the love for his club. Yeah, embarassment for Portugal, what a joke. People already mentioned it, but it wasn't Benfica that finished last on a crappy CL group and lost to Artmedia and Rangers. Besides, what was Porto's result this year against Benfica?

1- Benfica had a terrible game... so F*CKING WHAT? After 9 wins in a row we definitely were overdue a defeat, shame it had to be at home, putting up a disgusting exhibition in front of a packed stadium, being outplayed completely by our rival.

2- we lost against Sporting, not Estrela da Amadora.

3- not many people from other countries watch the portuguese league, whereas they watch the Champions League much more, and we just beat Manchester United and qualified for the next round less than two months ago, yeah really shameful man.

i'm really quite happy that benfica lost, actually..i'm just talking as a portuguese, not as portista..and saying that i'd be gladder if my country's champions defended themselves better at home with a team that's a few steps behind in the league..

of course you're right, i'm not saying losing against sporting and estrela is the same thing...but if having a bad game is 'so F*CKING WHAT' for one team, it should be for the other, no matter who the opponent is...except for penafiel.

and that penalty against benfica was so unfair how could nelson see liedson coming from behind? although benficas was so-so, but there was 1 clear one the push on the back of nuno that wasnt called, and when liedson has the ball against liedson i just turned my head because i knew he was gonna blow past him for that 2nd goal

Anyway, Sporting pwned us in every aspect of the game, and thouroughly deserved their victory. As for us, well, we just flat-out sucked, and that has put paid to any remaining hope of us winning the title this year. Yes, I know we still have 14 rounds + FCP at the Luz to look forward to, but I have a feeling that we won't retain our crown.

we played like ****. actually it was the worst performance of the season, and some players had a nightmare evening like Alcides and Beto (stupid penalty). mr. Koeman until when we will have to stand this player? it hurts me see players like Karagounis in the bench and watch this "player" in the field. but it's nothing lost with this defeat. it hurts more because was against a rival but it was only 3 points lost and we still in 2nd place anyway and Porto didn't played yet (actually how much times Porto played before us? 1? 2?...) we must return to the Benfica before this match and we will be on the right track.
