Silence of the Lambs>>>>(in a league of its own compared to the others)Manhunter>Red Dragon>Hannibal.....haven't seen the latest prequelprequelprequelprequel, and I ain't all that interested in checking it out really.

Two of the creepiest and downright ****-in-the-pants scary characters ever, man. They're both vividly etched in my head, having seen both movies relatively young.

Nah man, this is by far the worst Hannibal Lector movie. Even Gary Oldman is disappointing.

I saw Manhunter on TV the other day, the original adaptation of Red Dragon, with Brian Cox as Hannibal Lecktor (as it's spelt in this movie). Many people prefer his performance to that of Hopkins, and I can see where they're coming from, even though I dont agree. He plays it with much more subtlety, and also is much more of a physical presence - altogether more frightening, even though Hopkins has got the suave intellectualism down far better. Not as good a movie as Silence of the Lambs, because its not nearly so polished and accomplished, but far better than Hannibal and still very engrossing.

gotta agree with you on gary oldman, simply poor performance. will check out manhunter.

Was at the movies watching Apocalypto and I must say I quite enjoyed it. Although the movie lacked any real content or message (not that it needs one, if you ask me) and felt over-done at some parts, it was definitely a great visual, artistic and emotional experience. With the over-done thing, I mean that it felt like Mel was going a bit too much for the "no holds barred and brutal violence = shock value" strategy, when he could have had a more engrossing and interesting story (not that I was bored at any time). When you look at it, it's a great visualisation of certain aspects of mankind and civilisation...greed, family, love, war etc.

4/5

P.S.: Saw a trailer for "300" and I thought it looked kickass.

saw Silence of the Lambs and Red Dragon.

Pretty good movies, Anthony Hopkins is ******* amazing

Legends of the Fall...

It's one of my mums favourites so I've seen it like 10 times, but until now i realise that its actually one hell of a movie.

Brad Pitt is one hell of a lucky actor: he always gets amazing roles in great movies (Y)

hmm, I also saw Dukes of Hazzard on HBO last night. Thought it was gonna be stupid but i had a few laughs.

I reckon you've got that just about spot on.

And yeah, the climactic moments of those movies are pretty epic - I will never forget Tim Noonan going crazy to In the Garden of Eden, or Buffalo Bill hunting in the dark. A genuine sense of threat rarely achieved in movies.

But like you I have no desire to see this ****ty new prequel. The whole point about HL is that he's enigma, that his crimes and his past happened off screen (hence why Hannibal is not so good), and the fact that the movie came out only a few months after the book shows, in my opinion, where Thomas Harris' priorities now lie.

Watched Elizabeth at my English class today, it was pretty boring til I saw that Eric Cantona (!!!!!) had a role in it.
Vincent Cassel had a really good performance though.

finally got the chance to see the good sheperd. Robert DeNiro of course was great. the man's class is just... Matt Damon's role actually fitted him and went well with the movie.

I just saw 50 First Dates yesterday. It was ok.
If someone asks you for that in a DVD store it is IMPOSSIBLE to tell if they are asking for Fifty First Dates or 51st State.
