What a disappointment, totally forgettable. Possibly because I'm not a pillhead.

HOLY****! Now there's a movie that I haven't seen in..........well.... since it first came out I suppose. I've gotta check that out again, man.

Anyway, yeah. EDMOND! It was recommended strongly out of the blue by a friend of mine and boy am I glad that he brought it to my attention. It sort of reminded me in some instances of Taxi Driver and Fightclub except that it was a bit more depressing and emotional in some key parts. Well written, casted and acted, man. Just ******* stunting to watch William H.. Macy and the rest of the cast deliver Mamet's raging and tormented dialogue.

BTW, when did the actor formerly known as William H. Macy all of a sudden jus' become plain ole' Bill Macy?

Słowiańska Dusza
Watched Tristan & Isolde. That was more than I expected, but in some parts it strays from a book.

Anyway good film(Y)

Chacarita Juniors

The Bastards of the Party.

I give this movie a 36749575659 out of 10.

IMDB - Surrounded by death and the brutal lifestyle that feeds it, a Los Angeles gangbanger explores the history of Southern California street gangs from the 1950s through the 1990s in an attempt to fully understand his existence.

So it's basically the story before the story of the CRIPS and Bloods, it's one of the best films I have ever seen. :mrpimp:

The Messengers - An excellent movie, highly recommend to see it. Expected another typical horror movie, but it was more than that.

10/10.

Blood Diamond - not bad at all. Academy have got it spot on - DiCaprio and Hounsou are definately worthy of noms, but the film isnt quite there over all. The story is really good, totally engrossing and, while rather simple, still fully credible. I may be impartial because I love films about Africa, but I found to be a fantastic glimpse at the generic troubles of African nations, and at times a very frightening portrait. The action sequences are superbly shot, better infact than most action movies, and are prolonged without declining in quality. The dirtyness of the situation and unpleasantness of the characters is also well captured. I do feel that it does try a little too hard to make a point about conflict diamonds and to "change people's outlook", a dangerous thing for hollywood movies to try and do. All this really shows is that there are things called conflict diamonds, lots of people die over them and there are some bad men working in the diamond industry. I could have told you that. The story, while credible, isnt real enough for any parallels to be drawn with and real events and, at times, it takes the moral high ground a little too much for its own good. DiCaprio is phenominal, just gets better and better. Apparantly his accent is not spot on, but it was good enough for me and the rest of his portrayal is fantastic. Even better than he was in the Departed, I would say. Hounsou is a great find, and there is great support all round. Only elt down is Jennifer Connolly who is especially bland playing a generally bland character. But all in all a movie that was better than I expected and definately worth watching.

Somebody Up There Likes Me (Y) Great perfomance by Newman. Now I can see where Rocky and Raging Bull come from. 8/10

I recently watched the Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy. The movie does no justice to the book at all. Bad acting, the jokes arent funny on screen and the plot is quite different from the books.

Especially the Computer with the answer to life, the universe and everything scene put me of.

Watched Se7en again, great great movie, every time I see it.
And also an old flick called Life According to Garph, It's one of those bittersweet crazy drama stories.. I guess it was alright. Robin Williams is kinda different there and John Lithgow has a crazy role which he preforms perfectly.

Nah man, this is by far the worst Hannibal Lector movie. Even Gary Oldman is disappointing.

I saw Manhunter on TV the other day, the original adaptation of Red Dragon, with Brian Cox as Hannibal Lecktor (as it's spelt in this movie). Many people prefer his performance to that of Hopkins, and I can see where they're coming from, even though I dont agree. He plays it with much more subtlety, and also is much more of a physical presence - altogether more frightening, even though Hopkins has got the suave intellectualism down far better. Not as good a movie as Silence of the Lambs, because its not nearly so polished and accomplished, but far better than Hannibal and still very engrossing.
