YELLOW CARD - Sarcasm
Blood Diamond

Watched this last week, its an alright film, entertaining enough. I do think however Djimon Hounsou out performed Leonardo Di Caprio. Alright the script was written so that Hounsou's characther had all the high and lows, but I still think he was just better at parts. Also, I think this films a bit "Hollywood" at times, with things such as massive explosions when they aren't needed.

Kill Bill vol. 1 & 2. Probably my favourite movies (movie) of all time. I've seen it before and just thinking about all scenes get me all excited again. The way the ''Showdown at House of Blue Leaves'' scenes were shot and all the tributes and styles creatively integrated in it are amazing and definitely few of the great moments for me in films  Tarantino

I dunno, I saw his name in the credits and guessed he probably played a big part in it

Maybe it was Steven Spielberg though :(

Yeah, judging on the visual aspect only, I'd say KB1&2 is one of the finest movies I've ever seen. (Y)

I refuse to comment on this movie in order to piss C0lumn off. (H)
At least tell me if you liked it or not :p I am actually intrigued to know if you did, because I still havent really made up my mind. In many ways it is rather crass and psuedo, yet it is very well constructed and excellently shot. I love German cinema, but am no fan of Schlondorff, especially after that awful Handmaid's Tale adaptation, yet this differs greatly from his usual style. I like Gunter Grass, but havent read this book. I'm too tired to write in proper sentences. But, to tell you the truth, at times I did find it a little ******* boring.

Have you checked out any Herzog yet?

Anyway, I finally got round to seeing Flags of Our Fathers. It's good, but frustrating because it could have been so much better. The combat scenes are done phenominally well, yet I would like to have seen more narrative drive behind them and for them to be less sliced up. The constant generation jumping is interesting but waaaaay overused and it really disrupts the film, meaning none of the strands can get a proper story going. The acting is never allowed to develop and there seems to be no clear message, besides War is Bad. I look forward very much to Letters as it seems as if this was only meant to be half a film, only stretched out to fill a whole one, a big whole one. Some jumps also unnecessarily quick, such as their fall from grace. Barry Pepper is fast becoming one of my favourite supporting actors, however, keeps cropping up and always great. Ryan Phillipe has not risen in my estimation, despite this and Crash. He must be blowing Paul Haggis. Clint's usual style of one take direction isnt suited to such a big movie, some of the bumbles, obviously left in to look naturalistic, just look like bad acting, and many of the scenes seem too lighte. Beautiful visuals however. I would not like to have missed this film as I want to do the Clint double this year, and it is worth seeing, but it could have been so much better and is flawed across the board. Cant help feeling it would have been better if Speilburg had stood his ground and directed it himself, though we prob would have just got a Private Ryan rehash.

Cuckoo's Nest was overrated. I only watched it because I read the book and loved it, and was super disappointed by the movie. Carlos was great in it, but in the end I thought it was ****e

Anyone who can watch ANY movie after Apocalypse Now and remain sane is a stronger man than I. Apocalypse Now is officially the equivilant to three tabs of acid.

Can see where you're coming from here, it's a great movie, but somehow doesnt feel like the masterwork it should be. Great performances, great story but some how constantly artificial and overworked.

Completely agree (Y) I guess you just shouldn't watch the film after you read the book...
