When your line of reasoning is: "Yes, obviously what you understood was logical but TECHNICALLY I'm not 100% wrong", you're only posting for your own benefit.

Actually, that applies whenever you post so this post is redundant.

Nope, nothing to do with logic or technicalities.

It was quite clear what I was saying, you're being difficult again.

I'm happy to do that. At the end of the day my original post was made just to make a joke about Sir_Didier_Drogba being a hipster.

Do not joke Alex, it is not your strong suit. Consider reading fewer chemistry books and more joke compendiums.

Just because you miss something doesn't mean it's not funny. That's not how humour works. I have it on good authority from nearly everyone that knows me in real life that I'm funny. I'll trust them over an internet tough guy.

Leo and Iñarritu both won which confirms the worthlessness of these awards, IMO. Revenant winning beth cinematography is acceptable only because Macbeth wasn't nominated, which is bullshit in and of itself.

Leo was such a token winner. They felt they owed him so they gave it to him. Ridiculous I think. No way was his performance the best lead role acting on Hollywood this year.

As I said previously, I didn't think he deserve based on the stand-alone quality of his performance. That said, I only saw him and Damon, I believe, and Damon was not worthy either. That said, Leo wasn't even the best actor in his own film. This was very much a campaign, quite like when Scorcese won with The Departed, in the sense that in both cases the winning performance was hardly the best or most iconic the winner has had. The Departed was a good film though, and I could see it winning best picture in these weak-ass two-year cycle we've had, whereas I could probably pinpoint better performances than Leo's on any given year.

I seriously have no idea how Macbeth wasn't nominated for best Cinematography. It was a poor film, sure, but surely enough people saw it and that would be enough to notice how exceptional it was in that respect. Bad films get nominated for secondary categories all the time, I really don't get it.

Do you think it was because of the quality of films being dowm or the academy being shitty at nominating (or both)?

Probably the quality of the films being down to be honest as other than Youth I can't really think of many films last year which I thought were very good but were overlooked, even for European films it feels like it was a weak year

Spotlight was probably my favorite film of the year. Didn't waste time on tangents and was very efficient in terms of storytelling. I just thought it was missing a bit of development on the burial of the story by Keaton. Felt like the writers didn't want to make the character look bad and it came off empty.

I just watched the 1960s Batman movie and up next is Teen Wolf.

And I started today with the intention of watching The Battle of Algiers.

Just watched Hail Caesar. Was decent, and funny. I guess the issue with these movies that are essentially plotless, is you don't get fully immersed

I like Hail Caesar. It was like Burn After Reading in that it was short and sweet so you're entertained the whole way through. Don't think the film can be described as plotless, not sure what you mean there. It's a film that doesn't revolve a strong, engaging narrative but it's pretty much a pastiche of an era so immersion is far from required but probably discouraged.

I'd probably have enjoyed it more if I was more savvy on the 50s film industry but it was still entertaining. I felt more satisfied than with The Revenant, not that that's a hard ask. That said, it's probably my least favorite Coen Brothers film from the ones I've seen. Worth a rewatch at some point, but it's far from amazing. Still refreshing in this age of 150+ minute movies.

I'm afraid our differences are irreconcilable. How do you wanna go about it? Slain in your sleep like Duncan or overthrown by the senate like Caesar?
