LA LIGA | Round 2: Real Madrid vs. Celta de Vigo

Personally, i think Real were pretty screwed up by the referee in this one. I dont think Pavon commited a penalty, and that ball didnt go in, no way. Robinho had a good match in the first half and he was poor like the rest of the team in the Second. It's clear for me that neither Robinho or Beckham are the playmakers on the team.

The real playmaker is Zidane, and he was missed yesterday by the team. Anyway, pretty entertaining match to watch and Baiano is doing well it seems.

The referee was very quick to concede Celta's 3rd goal because his conscience was pricking him after having allowed Gravesen to keep on playing. He could have sent him off twice at yesterday's match.

I just saw the first half. Pavon didn't play relatively bad at all. He was unlucky on that Penalty as Placente was unlucky on our penalty. However, Placente did kick Baptista in the back of his foot. Pavon, from what I can see, jumped in the air with his arms up. He had the intention of bringing them down in a wing like movement, but couldn't cause the Celta players arm was also up. Pavon was really unlucky. My biggest concern was the marking for the first goal. That defender was all alone in the box. Luxe needs to correct that tactically.

As for the rest, Robinho and Baptista looked fantastic. Their short passes and general movement were excellent. Gravesen did what he normally does, steal balls. Beckham hustled about recovering passes and launching passes. Ronaldo had some good shots, but could have done better. The fullbacks were solid. The only bad performance came from Guti. Now he's always bitching about being on the bench, but everytime I've seen him start he gives one of these lack luster performances. We would have been better off with Raul in there. Believe me, Raul is much better than Guti.

As a team we were very solid in attack and in ball possesion. I loved wathcing them string passes together effortlessly in midfield. It reminded me of the Championship years. Defence only had too very costly hickups. Otherwise it was solid.

In football, you can have all the talent in the world and still not win. You need luck. Celta had it in this first half. But anywayz, someone please post the torrent for the second half so I can see what went wrong in that half. You know, besides the non-existent goal from Celta and Robinho's wrongfully disallowed goal.

Wonderful analysis. Agree in all the points (Y)
