Capello holds head up high

Juventus may be at the centre of an investigation, but Coach Fabio Capello and his players insist they can be proud of this Scudetto.

“We were leading the table for 76 consecutive rounds,” he told Sky Italia. “We end the season with our heads held high, as this is a great squad and our celebrations are fully deserved. No team has achieved our statistics and we proved we could battle on under pressure.”

The entire Board of Directors resigned this week after transcripts of alleged telephone conversations sparked an investigation into various irregularities, but Capello shrugged off claims Juve risk relegation to Serie B.

“Why would that happen? I ask everyone to wait, as people are rushing to judge before seeing all the facts here. At the end of the investigation, we might be laughing off these wild accusations. We are all very close to the directors and are grateful for the hard work they’ve done for us. Attacking Luciano Moggi has become a national sport.”

This afternoon Milan patron Silvio Berlusconi told newspapers he wants the ‘return’ of two Scudetto titles he feels were stolen from his club.

“Berlusconi was talking like a fan. Don’t forget that the telephone transcripts also mention someone who works for Milan and that’s all I’m going to say.”

Capello also denied newspaper reports he has lined up a summer move to Inter, where Roberto Mancini looks ready to step aside.

“My future is definitely at Juventus, as I am tied to Roberto Bettega and commercial director Romy Gai. I’ve been very happy here and have no reason to leave, so I think I’ll stay with Juve.”

Fabio Cannavaro played a part in the opening goal in today’s 2-0 win at Reggina and also celebrated this record-breaking campaign.

“This is an important Scudetto that comes at the end of a year in which we were always leading the Championship. It has been a great season,” said the defender.

“The investigation is something for the club to work through, but we must compliment our fans, who came here to Bari in vast numbers to stick by us.”

my god that article alone just puts a smile on my face but then again it also makes me shed a tear. the passion of our dear coach is great! we also should apologise to him because i remember a month and a bit ago we were calling him crapello.

next season my dream

1 scudetto (30 and a 3rd gold star)
1 italian cup (apparently win 10 and u get a silver star. not sure whether that is true)
1 ucl

what a fantastic year that would be coming up! by thats my dream!

God, if we get next year the 3rd Scudetto in a row, which implicitly means that we'll get the 3rd star, it would be just awesome, and all that under Capello!
The date when we'll get our third star will surely end up tattoed on my body (don't know where though).

Man how can the players cheer on this, knowing that they were helpeed to win. I mean how could a victory like this one taste good? If my team would have been in this situation i would have felt bad if they were to celebrate. I guess i don't know what it feels to be a Juve fan, you get used cheating to win. (6)

Congratulations on your provisional Scudetto (H)

You're not getting it, Berlusconi isn't PM anymore. Lol if Juve and Milan are relegated, that'd be the only way Inter could win Lo Scudetto.

Deisler, are you a Roma fan in the closet or something?

The players were proud of this scudetto because they worked hard for it and know we're the best team in Italy. I don't and they don't care what anyone else says. Let the facts come out and trial finish first before we're going to make judgements here.

u know what i find really odd though. if there is soo much conspracy and all this stuff. why did they have the nerve to plan for the trphy to be handed out and everything. wouldnt they put those things on hold and borrow the olimpico in torino for a celebration once everything is cleared up. if all goes in juves favour ofcoarse!
