Totti Mauls Capello
11/14/2005 1:54:00 PM
AS Roma captain Francesco Totti has launched a scathing attack on Juventus coach Fabio Capello.

Capello comes up against his former club on Saturday as Roma entertain Juve at the Stadio Olimpico.

The coach reportedly upset the giallorossi idol last season when he suggested that players should concentrate on hard graft rather than gaining inspiration from those such as Totti.

"I would never play for Capello again," Totti was quoted as saying in ’Il Messagero’. "There’s no doubt about that – and I never said that I would. He’s not a true person.

"For me, the type of man you are is far more important than the Coach you are.

"Luciano Spalletti, compared to Capello, is a real man. He doesn’t treat Totti, Vincenzo Montella and others differently. He treats everybody in the same way."

He also claimed that he is likely to retire after next year’s World Cup.

"After the World Cup I’m 99 per cent sure I’ll retire from the national side to dedicate myself to Roma," he added.

Sagnol may join Juve, say Bayern
Tuesday 15 November, 2005
Bayern Munich’s general manager Karl-Heinz Rummenigge admits the German champions may be unable to stop Willy Sagnol joining Juventus next summer.

The France defender is out of contract at the end of the season and has made it clear that he will be ready for a new challenge after six years in Bavaria.

With Juventus emerging as frontrunners for Sagnol’s signature, Rummenigge is facing up to the prospect of losing the experienced right-back.

"We will do everything possible to sway the balance in our favour, but Juventus are a very serious and powerful competitor," Rummenigge said. "Willy’s own desire will prove very important."

Sagnol, who has also been strongly linked with Manchester United and Valencia, is thought to be keen on a move to the Stadio Delle Alpi, where he would join up with four international teammates - Lilian Thuram, Jonathan Zebina, Patrick Vieira and David Trezeguet.

The arrival of the former Monaco ace would cast fresh doubt over the future of Zebina, however.

The former Roma player has been the first-choice right-back this season, but may find himself out of favour when he returns from injury, having angered the club by demanding a pay rise.

According to whispers, the Italian champions are ready to offer Sagnol a hefty pay packet of £6m over four seasons.

Meanwhile, Juventus director general Luciano Moggi insists that there will not be any new signings during the January transfer window.

"When January comes we won’t be signing anyone because we’re okay as we are right now," said Moggi.

Nevertheless, Moggi is expected to be busy in the summer with Inter’s Cristiano Zanetti on his way to Turin.

Zanetti, who like Sagnol would also command no transfer fee, seems to have been swayed by the interest shown in him by the Italian champions after growing frustrated by Inter’s reluctance to make him a new offer.

The midfielder, who is also a Fiorentina target, is highly thought of by Coach Fabio Capello, who won the Scudetto with the 28-year-old at Roma four years ago and would be considered back-up to Emerson and Patrick Vieira.

2 great signings IMO...

Sagnol is better defensively than Zebina and Zanetti could replace Giannichedda. Remember that Inter started playing better in the 2nd half last season because MAncini played Zanetti regularly. ;)

Moggi: I Hope Totti And Cassano Play Against Juve

11/15/2005 7:33:00 AM
The Juventus General Director does not want to create any controversy ahead of this weekend’s big match between the Giallorossi and Bianconeri.

Francesco Totti missed Italy’s impressive 3-1 win over Holland on Saturday due to an injury, but the Roma captain will surely be on the field when the capital city side will host the Old Lady on Saturday night, something which will please Luciano Moggi.

“I’m happy about this. With Totti’s presence the match will be nicer. Let’s hope that also Cassano will play. Roma is coming back in the Scudetto circle following the problems at the start of the season.”

Moggi also denied the rumours that Juve are on the verge of signing Helguera on a free transfer at the end of the season.

“I don’t even know who he is,” declared a sarcastic Moggi.

 Moggi

Helguera who?

i dont actually think totti mauled capello.

after training the players have interviews, press conferences etc. he aws just asked if he would play for capello again, and his response was what it was. just a simple response and the press blows it up as usual, quite obvious since it is right before the game.

Oh yeah, I forgot to drop the good news: Chivu is injuried too, and he'll probably miss the game against us. He injuried during a training match just before the game against Cote d'Ivoire that was on saturday.

man, I gotta tell ya. I'm a little nervous about this game. Roma is never easy especially on away. I just hope the guys won't crack like they did against Milan (I didn't actually see the game, but with such a loss I presume they kinda cracked).

OTHER NEWS

Zlatan was named the best player in Sweden of 2005. yaay. :fluffy:

its going to suck if Bayern Lose Sagnol, but at the same time its not gonna be bad for Sagnol's Career because Juve are class and He would do great there. But at the same time i'm gonna miss his great crosses he provides Bayern and his great vision in the RB spot. I just don't see any other great RB out there like Sagnol.

lol thats a little harsh on behalf of him to say who's Helguera? :D
