Thank you very much for insulting me once again.

Bobby, why in the hell did you write all that? What did you try to prove here? It had nothing to do with what I said.

Why some of you feel like I was saying that money is evil?! Did I ever said that? I only said that money is not the key to happiness, and indeed have little to do with happiness at all. If you love money that’s great! If money makes you happy its even better! Do whatever you want. Love what ever you want. Hate what ever you want. I personally dont give a ****.

If you're getting so offensive when view point different from yours is said, you have some unresolved issues. So fix those issues first and then come back and try to have a discussion here.

Regarding Sir_Didier_Drogba... Dude, I’m gonna send you a pm. Ease up a little, I am not trying to break apart your little world here. I am just expressing my thought.

I come through like a mack, truck rumbling streets
Big Boy hit tracks straight pummeling beats
Rock hard like coke in a ???
Pay top dollar for the hot product indeed, yeah
Turn it up and get addicted to it
And have raw music soon as you listen to it
Jump up like a old fat lady at church
Jump back like a uncut thang at work
Mang, hop in and take a ride with a pimp nigga
Fire the green up and let me shoot the **** witcha
Talk slick till I make a chick get the picture
Just a page outta fat boy ghetto adventures
Listen, I'm a titan on the mic
Original, them weak niggaz bite what I write
Oh Lord, we going to get it jumpin like revival
Survival, Straight from my street bible

haha so many experts in here, yet I wonder how many of you who say money has nothing to do with happiness still live at home, getting all kinds of help, and most everything handed to you from mummy? (obviously no offence to those who don't fall into this category)

Speaking from real life experience, and as someone who's gone from being completely broke to making a good living... money has everything to do with happiness, or at least has a direct effect on your mental well being. When you have no money and you struggle to pay your rent, eat, make ends meet, it has a huge impact on your self-esteem and confidence. Not to mention your general outlook on life.. it's naive to think that having a girlfriend/love is the answer to all of life's problems, if anything it makes being poor even harder for various reasons.

Having money and a good steady income gives you real stability and peace of mind, in my opinion that's something you need before anything else...

God damn I used to think Alicia Silverstone was hot.
Same here. I also used to think she can act. When the best movie you've made in the past 5 years is "Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed", you know your career has gone down the drain.

The Wealth of Nations is indeed a fantastic book.
Yeah it is an absolute must read. So far I have only read the first three volumes and I am having trouble getting hold of the final two, but I hope I can track them down before too long.

Money is everything!! Whoever is saying that Love has much more importance than money can go to hell!!! Lets say you got a bitch rightnow and you love her very much and vice versa, now imagine would u have ever fallen into love with that bitch if she were some stinky homeless or would she love you if you were some stinky homeless??!! Exactly!! Now if there were no money and we all were stinky homeless than we would have loved each other and love would have been much more important than money but thats not the case.....

Well, money its not the most important thing in life atlhough it gives u a lot of security in life , but we live in a material world where paying rent, food, etc its not enough u always need a better car, a better cell phone a bigger house and thats when things start to suck, thats when u think that u dont have enough money, when u cant buy the coolest looking iPod but u have a regular mp3 player that fullfills your need of playing "mp3 music". Thats disgusting in my opinion most of us put money and material "extravaganza" upon Love, friendship, etc.

Maybe u have the best computer but u worked 12 hours a day in the last couple of years and u lost great moments with friends and family or even missed to find love, just for getting money that pays a luxurious apartment, but at the end u have an empty soul.

there are exceptions of coure like if u are the son of a millionare or a lucky buisness man making loads of money just working part-time but that is very rare.

Sorry for mi english i hope u can understand my point.

Probably the smartest post in this thread. Thanks Mauricio.

The title of this thread was "is money really everything?". But many people here, confused it with "is money evil" or "does money play any role in happiness", and started throwing accusing remarks. Everyone knows that money in our world plays unprecedented part, and it defiantly plays a role in our happiness or lack there of. So stick to the topic, please.

Yeah but money has that impact in our society thanx to material stuff, money makes u happy because with it u can buy things that make u feel good and confident.

So IMO money wouldnt be that important if we only wanted it to cover our main needs (food, clothe, roof, etc)

Money its not "evil", but its the center of our society wether we like it or not, in facta lot of people dont fin "Love" or "happiness" cus they dont hav emoney

well, money might not be the most important thing in life. but it definately makes life much more comfortable. and enjoying your family, relationship etc. becomes much easier when you have the wealth to buy the things you need/want. I know what I'm talking about, I've gone from no beeing able to afford the rent for a 18m² basement-room when moving out of my parent's house at 16 to making good money, driving my own car and living in a 80m² flat now. the difference of joy and comfort is unquestionable.
everyone that doesn't agree has either never made real money or is a complete moron.

Well, i'll give my two cents on the subject. Money doesnt bring happiness? Try to be happy without it. Like Sir_Didier_Drogba said, there's no such a thing anyway. Happiness is a short state of mind, it comes in small doses (really small doses actually...). I've entered Uni and i have to pay 800 bucks for it, i get 500 per month at my job. That means i pay it partially and my family helps with the rest. People only realise money plays a big part on your doses of happiness after they run out of it, after they need it.

And about money, i dont even mean being a wealthy man. I mean having money to pay your bills, putting food on your table. And to be able to hang out at weekends with your mates. You dont have to be wealthy to do that, you just need to have -enough-. The hypocrisy of some people in this forum is laughable, since if you want to go to a pub, you'll spend money. The pub at weekends is a moment of happiness you spend with friends, talking crap, eating something and drinking beer. You have to pay for your beer, or for that big bad-ass sandwich you wanna eat at some fast food store. If you're not eating sandwich at the fast food store, you have to pay money for the ingredients.

On the love subject, money helps but a lot of girls dont want you because of your money. I'm not rich and i've managed to get sum beauties. It helps on the long term relationship. If you want to marry, you'll need money. For everything, from the wedding party to the rest of your life.

Life isnt about money, but money plays a big part on it. That's the World for you today. If a guy is rich, and he achieved it honestly, it's his money. Egoistic? Maybe. But he earned his money, he can do whatever he wants with it (as long as it's legally allowed).

Money is not evil....its wat we do in order to get it which can be distractin

Don't be an idealist. Money is everything. Everyone who doesn't say so, is unable to get it in big amounts and is trying to comfort themselves with idealistic thoughts.

Money isn't everything. How many lawyers and dentists kill themselves every year? Thousands, probably hundreds of thousands. And it's usually the ones making more money than they can spend, but have stressful, ****ty jobs that they hate. Money isn't everything, but it certainly does bring comfort and can indirectly bring happiness. When you have money you don't argue with your spouce about money which is the leading cause of divorce. In addition you don't have the stress of wondering if you are going to eat next week, or even tonight. However aside from that I can't see any reason why money brings happiness. Our culture consumes and consumes and lives well beyond our means, but we still aren't any happier than we were a century ago. It's called the Progress Paradox and it's actually a book I've been meaning to read by Gregg Easterbrook. Money brings security which makes life easier, but it does not bring happiness and it is certainly not everything.

If you think love can exist without money in the world inwhich we live you are totally wrong - everyone pays for sex, whether it's "I'll give you $20 for a blowjob" or "can I buy you a drink" or "can I take you out for dinner", and the quality of every relationship is directly proportional to the financial situation of the participants.
Man, you gotta admit that people can fall inlove and/or have sex without going out for dinner and buying drinks? Love at first sight has happend before and will hapend again and again.

And I think it's a very bold statement to claim that every relationships happiness are based on their economy. I know that poor people can be lovers and have great relationships. History will prove that. However it is true that people to day are more preoccupied with money and they think that if they don't got a lot of it, that that equals unhapieness. Sadly. Other then this I kind of agree with what you are saying. I have not read Wealth of Nations, but I'm are learing about Adam Smith and his theories atm in college, so maybe I'll have more to say later on.
