It depends on your situation in life...most students on an online forum won't find it that big an issue, but some(especially at the college/university level) will!!! The unemployed will feel that it is not only everything but that it is the only thing. Idiots that get paid 200,000 GBP a week to kick a ball......WON'T! I personally feel that there is no logic in certain people getting paid millions while there are a ton of people out there who sleep on cardboard boxes. There's enough money to build faster computers and to send men/women into space/to the Moon, but poverty is still very present in our society! People like Bill Gates, Mark Cuban (Mavericks, NBA) and Donald Trump just don't do enough...they simply want to expand their empires but every once in a while make themselves feel good by making contributions to "charity"......what a joke! Sometimes I feel sick when I see moviestars/pro atheletes come on TV and request ordinary people, who struggle to pay the bills, to help the less fortunate!

We, as humans, have lost our souls...we've each sold ours to the devil. Sometimes, you've just gotta feel that the industrial age should have never ended.

As far as your relationship crap........women/girls/females/sluts don't want men..........THEY WANT MEN WITH MONEY! And they get on our a@@es about equal treatment...........S-E-L-L-O-U-T-S!

I gotta say that for all the talk about how love is more important than money (and i believe it is), but the truth is that if a person doesn't have steady money, he won't have love at all. And when i say steady money, i mean just enough to survive. But if a person is a bump, then his life will be ****, no matter who his significant other is.

I disagree with everything you said. Perhaps some people are poor because they can't do anything that society cares about. Do you watch soccer? Do you pay money to follow the sport? Then you really can't talk about athletes being overpaid can you, because obviously you care about it so much that you pay to follow it. Bill Gates built an empire. Do you use Windows? For that matter do you use anything produced or serviced by a major corporation? Well then guess what, you're a hypocrite and an idiot.

Women don't want only money, but that's a convenient excuse if you suck at life.

From my personal experience, I was deadly needing money when I was in college. Pay all the debts that I had for the school loan. Hard time life for me. I was thinking, is money really this so important for the whole time in my life until I'm old ???

My life is changing right now, with the time passes so quickly, my current 2 jobs which are not really so good (due to time consuming), but still a rewarding salaries; I'm just thinking money is only the key to 'survive'.

But, for how long money bring my happiness ? From the perspective of my psychological life, I don't think money will lead me to feel satisfied every time I buy something... and yeah, I'm thinking that the relationship that affect my psychological life.

Surely, people's opinions are still different about money, which I appreciated.

I hate it when people embark on rants about topics they know nothing about, and just spurt the same bullsh!t they've already heard from a thousand other igonorant people. How is it the responsibility of people like Bill Gates to distribute the wealth that they worked for and accumulated to rectify the finances of others? Do you have any idea how much he has already done, how much he has given away to charities and how much he raises? He has already declared that the vast bulk of his fortune will be given away when he dies. You bring up the argument of professional footballers being paid so much, but you have to realise that your salary in a society such as ours is proportional to two things - how many people are able to do your job as well as you and how much your job matters. Only a very small amount of people in the country can play football to the absolutely top level and thousands of people - probably including yourself - flock to see them do it. Footballers are so uniquely talented in a field that is so important in our society that of course they are going to be paid huge amounts. To say that they shouldnt take so much money is rediculous, if someone is willing to pay you a huge amount of money to do the job you would be doing anyway, of course you are going to take it. I also hate the way you refer to poverty as "sleeping in cardboard boxes". What about the REAL poverty in this world, the people starving to death in the third world? Surely that's where the inbalance lies, not with the tiny proportion of people who live in the west who have ****ed up their incredibly lucky draw of happening to be born in a first world country. But now we're talking about the responsibility of countries, not individuals. I do think our country should do more to help poverty in third world countries, more in the way of aid and also changing trade legislation, and I wouldnt mind paying a few more pence in tax to do it, and nor would most people, I imagine. That is how we should give our own money to fight poverty, not by taking it away from millionaires and rich footballers.

I just dont see how money can make you happy. I've been "well off" for the first part of my life (up to here at least) and ive never seen it as being anything interesting. I know that sounds stupid, but what i mean is, im looking forward to going into the real world, or going to my student house next year with a tenner for food each week. Not because it'll make me happier, but i think the more you work for something, the better it feels, theres more satisfaction to it.

Having money thrust apon you without working for it doesnt make happiness, whatever you do with it, because you dont feel any satisfaction, theres no long-lasting feeling. Working for it, then sure, maybe money can make you happy.

However, to go back to the main arguement, i dont think you can even compare money to loving a girlfriend or wife or whoever, i just dont see how money can make you more happy. Maybe to answer this though, you have to have been living on the breadline AND been living in luxury, only then can you see the true importance of money. I doubt there are many people in the world who have had both, and are now decididly "middle-class".

Yes, but you have to think for the long term. Love is the most important thing in life but like it or not you need money to support the one that you love. You can't just use your affection to make a living that is just totally bull**** in my opinion. I used my first hard earned money to buy a gift for a girl I have a crush with, and when she was so happy to receive it, the feeling was priceless. Her happiness was like a drug to me and I want to give her just that. Yes, she would appreciate a little bit of "I love you" phrase or small things like that but in the long term, I feel that to give her a sense of security when she's with me would be more important...
