But the Dual Core version is LTE at least? Not sure the quad core is?

Apparently the Quad core 1.4GHz was confirmed by Samsung...That's ok. It's more about the rest of it for me. I want to see MORE than 1GB of RAM (which I bet we won't) I want to see more than 16GB of memory (which they may offer in one version), and I want to see more than 8mp camera.

I'd also like to see quite a high res screen.

Knew the specs would be underwhelming. Nothing that jumps out and makes it an industry leader. Samsung have to be careful, they're dropping back to the field here, and with the One X ruining a much nicer GUI, they could lose loads of sales.

Yeah pretty disappointing. Almost the same specs as One X. But it still is the best phone at the moment and Apple will have a hard time to catch this up.

This phone offers everything you need to be honest. Quad core, HD screen, great camera, thin, lightweight, 2100mAh battery etc. What else can you ask more? 12 Megapixels camera and 2Gb of ram are too much to ask. Even tablets don't have these specs.

Well, HTC ****ED up BIG time by only providing the dual core to Canadian and American carriers. Thats foolish. I don't think One X will be a big success here. Without the Quad core, its basically just like the S2 which is more than 1 year old already.

Thats the best technology can offer at this point. Don't think iPhone 5 can be better.

I love the brushed finish look of the blue one but I hate it that Samsung chose a cheap plasticky build AGAIN. It will slip off hands easily too because of that glossy design.

As I've said before, I like the plastic. Makes it so light weight, and in your pocket that makes a huge difference.

There are other phones with 12MP cameras. The display is ok, but I'm very disappointed it's not super Amoled Plus. Pentile matrix sucks balls, I'd rather a good LCD than this RGBG stuff. 720p, on a Super Amoled Plus would be awesome. But not to be. I also think 4.8" is possibly too big.

Processor at 1.4GHz I imagine will probably out benchmark the One X at 1.5Ghz, but it could be tight.

The RAM is the same as the SGS2. I think with four cores operating flat out, that 1GB ram might hold the system back a bit.

I think as an industry leader Samsung just needed to push the boundaries a bit more, especially after the delayed release. I'll definitely be skipping this generation and waiting for the 4, or something better from someone else.

The battery is exciting, that's the biggest positive in my eyes.

Theres a lot of stuff that can be used instead of plastic and still make it lightweight. I think Samsung use plastic just to reduce the price of the phone to make it cheaper than iphone.

I honestly don't think the raw cost of the amount of aluminium or glass they'd use would make that big a difference. Add a couple of dollars per phone. Samsung could still easily sell below the iPhone using those materials.

There isn't much as light as plastic, especially at a reasonable cost. The reason they don't use aluminium and glass would be weight I think. The reason they don't use other light weight materials would be cost. I think it's ridiculous to make something cost more, just to make it out out a material to make people feel better about themselves.

The phone is no more slippery than an iPhone or anything else I don't think, the sole advantage would be for people like you that don't like the idea of plastic. Purely superficial in my eyes, I think people need to get over it. My xbox 360 is made of plastic too. As are it's controllers, as is the TV I play it on.

The plastic also responds to being dropped much better than iPhone glass. And actually acts a bit like a crumble zone on a car (meaning less chance of screen damage).

I'd go as far to say as it's not necessarily the price that makes Samsung choose it, but the price that makes you think they shouldn't.

Glass not so much (but hotter than plastic). Aluminium definitely. Being a insulator like plastic would surely be a safer environment for a tiny computer.

I don't know the S3 was supposed to be a much better version of the S2. It looks like it is just a flashier toy. I still believe the quad core One X will outperform it. Not the dual core junk versions that have already flooded the US market.

Don't get me wrong, I think the SGS3 is a bit underwhelming, but every benchmark I've seen so far has it well ahead of the One X. The only reason I can imagine you'd think otherwise is because of the 1.5GHz compared to 1.4GHz of the SGS3. But Samsung have consistently had their Exynos line outperform equivalent clocked processors from basically every other company.

It'll definitely be the fastest out for the next little while, but I still feel Samsung have done a bit of an Apple and just released what they've had to to sneak to the top of the pile (especially with their name, and so much anticipation - they'd sell millions of units if they released a brick), rather than what they could.

Yeah there are, but Samsung didn't really push it. I still feel they were very complacent. They've done an Apple, and I don't like them heading that direction.

Samsung FINALLY made it popular for people in the mainstream to buy something that wasn't an iPhone. They even had iPhone users crossing over, which would have been unheard of previously. But I feel with this release in a few months when other manufacturers release their 'half-gen' update (usually Samsung don't do this, although they have the past two years with a Google Nexus branded phone), loads of people that jumped on board this phone, promised the latest and greatest "Galaxy S" branded phone will be annoyed that their phone is then lagging.

The SGS2 has basically remained the best phone out, until the One X was released. Samsung are always even careful enough that when they release their Google branded "half gen" releases, there is some doubt about which handset is better (as there was with the SGS2 vs Galaxy Nexus, and the SGS vs the Nexus S before that). I think when HTC release their next handset (which I'm sure will come soon enough) there will be little doubt. Though I won't buy a HTC for one simple reason - they NEVER have removable storage AND large on board storage, always one or the other. This is one thing Samsung always get right on their GS branded phones.

Looks like the Quad core version won't be coming to the US/Canada :nape: The US/Canadian version will however have 2Gb of RAM and LTE along with all the other SGSIII functions.

I would be disappointed if the Canadian version had just 1GB RAM (Like the OneX). 2GB + LTE and dual core is a big upgrade for my Samsung Galaxy S for sure. Quad Core would be awesome though.

They're still to make a quad-core that's compatible with LTE.

Iphone 5 is amazing!!! Its taller, faster and lighter!

Bull**** :nape: Thats what they call "innovation". To me, the iOS has stayed the same for the past 5 years except for Siri maybe (which I think is pointless and overrated anyway).
