Man all of us arent ignorant.... I love soccer but I also love Football and basketball and baseball. And why are yall so ignorant about football. I mean yall are saying the same things that those guys were saying about soccer. They dont understand soccer and yall dont understand football. Both are awesome games I just wish Americans would understand how soccer is a great game and the rest of the world on how football is really a great game.... I can dream cant I?

Soccer
Soccer is an abbreviation for Association Football. The Football Association was formed in London in October 1863 when representatives of eleven clubs and schools met in an attempt to standardize the rules of the game. One of the rules prohibited the carrying of the ball, a rule that would lead to the Rugby-oriented clubs leaving the Association several months later. The name Association Football was coined to distinguish it from Rugby.
By 1889, the abbreviation socca' was in use, and the spelling soccer had made its appearance by 1895.
Haha, maybe we talk crap about American football but we talk slightly different about their sport than they do about ours. They are saying stuff that's not even true, like the comments about european football stealing the American football term. That stuff just pisses me off! If they at least got their facts straight, I wouldn't mind as much.

It´s impressive how some north-americans can be self-centered at times; I partially remember of an article for a respected USA magazine written by the time of WC2002 saying that USA people had no reason to celebrate a victory over Portugal because the only thing that Portugal could do better than USA was the Porto wine
