Gemeente Arnhem rond de tafel met Aalbers

De gemeente Arnhem zal ook met oud-Vitesse-voorzitter Karel Aalbers gaan praten over de overname van het Gelredome en de club Vitesse. De Britse Duet Group bood twee weken geleden 24 miljoen euro voor het stadion, maar stelde daarbij als voorwaarde dat het ook de club Vitesse (voor 26 miljoen euro) kon overnemen. Bovendien eisten de Britten dat Aalbers weer de macht zou krijgen bij Vitesse.

De gemeente Arnhem zette stadion Gelredome een dikke maand geleden te koop. Daarop kwamen, behalve de Duet Group, nog eens drie gegadigden af. Deze drie zouden minder hebben geboden Shifty Duet/Aalbers, maar is bovendien van een andere orde: zij hebben sec op het stadion geboden.

Karel Aalbers laat deze week in Voetbal International weten dat er aan het bod van de Duet Group vele voordelen kleven. 'Alleen door vanuit één hand te sturen krijg je maximale synergie', aldus Aalbers. 'Het Chelsea Village-idee. Op veel kleinere schaal willen we dat ook op Vitesse en Gelredome projecteren.'

Basically it says that the Duet Group wants to buy Vitesse's stadium for 24 million and the club itself for 26 million under one condition: that Karel Aalbers returns to Vitesse as chairman. That's funny because he was recently charged with tax fraud and forgery. If he's convicted, he could serve up 1 year in jail. (Nikos Machlas, for example, got 2.5 million guilders while his salary was supposed to be only half a million guilders. He was charged because of the transfers of Nikos Machlas to Ajax, Pierre van Hooijdonk to Benfica, Dejan Curovic to Groningen, Roy Makaay and Ferdi Vierklau to Tenerife.)

Maarten, couple of questions. Does Duet own Nuon and is that why they want Aalbers heading Vitesse again? I'm confused about Aalber's supposed connection to Duet, if any. Also, what's the likelyhood of this happening? I know that Arnhem owns the Gelredome, what about Vitesse itself?

In totaal zijn vier partijen door de gemeente uitgenodigd. Met de Duet Group bood Aalbers vorige week 24 miljoen euro op het stadion. Voorwaarde is wel dat daarbij ook Vitesse voor 26 miljoen kan worden overgenomen. De investeringsmaatschappij wil bovendien dat oud-voorzitter Aalbers weer de eindverantwoordelijkheid krijgt over stadion en club. Volgens ingewijden is de bieding van de Duet Group het hoogst. Er zou een verschil van negen miljoen (24 tegen 15) tussen de bieding van de andere drie partijen en die van de Duet Group zitten. Bovenal echter is het uitgangspunt anders. De Duet Group neemt de hele club over, de andere biedingen zijn 'klassiek' en gaan alleen over het stadion, dat door de gemeente enige tijd geleden in de aanbieding gedaan. Door de dubbele bieding zijn er volgens het kamp Aalbers voor de gemeente veel voordelen. Zo wil men direct Vitesse uit de nood helpen. Bovendien krijgt de gemeente het geleende geld van 6 miljoen terug. De eerste reacties van gemeente en club waren positief op de bieding van Aalbers.

Vitesse is a stand alone organisation. Even if Arnhem would like to see this happen, Vitesse can't be forced to accept. It would mean the club is out of the financial troubles completely, but the guy that got us there is back in charge again

Timmer has been the most consistent over the year. Kromkamp, Alex, Matijsen and Lee have all been HUGE relevations for their clubs. Van Bommel has shown to be an incredible player when not having to mind his defensive duties (with the 2nd leg of the Milan match being the exception to the rule, but that was Champions League). Landzaat had a great first half of a season and he had important goals during the second. Kenneth Perez is probably the most underrated player in the league right now, nobody realizes just how good he is. Erik Nevland (Man United reject) is my surprise pick. He's just come up big for Groningen and deserves respect. Kuijt is the best striker in Holland, without a shred of doubt. He had a bad start to the start of the season but still managed to score 24. This is his third consecutive season in which he has scored 20 or more goals. Park is just great. He was so crap for the past two years and this season's he been outstanding.

Honorable mentions: Escude, Vayrynen, Cocu, Goor (hasn't missed a single match this season if I'm correct), Yildirim, Huntelaar.

PSV is een samenwerkingsverband aangegaan met Boca Juniors. Dat maakt de Argentijnse club bekend via zijn website.
Guus Hiddink zal vrijdagmiddag in Buenos Aires met Boca-voorzitter Mauricio Macri een persconferentie organiseren waar zij gezamenlijk een verklaring zullen geven over het onderlinge akkoord. Het is de bedoeling dat PSV en Boca vooral talenten maar ook technische kennis gaan uitwisselen.

Omdat Hiddink momenteel in Argentinië verblijft, zullen zijn assistenten Fred Rutten en René Eijkelkamp zondag zijn taken overnemen als PSV op bezoek gaat bij Roda JC.

Ajax en FC Omniworld gaan vanaf 1 juli samenwerken. Beide clubs sloten een akkoord voor de komende vijf jaar.
De clubs zullen louter op voetbaltechnisch gebied gaan samenwerken, de Amsterdamse club heeft geen enkele invloed op het beleid van de aanstaande eerstedivisionist.

'Voor beide partijen betekent deze samenwerking een win-win situatie', verklaart Ajax' algemeen directeur Arie van Eijden. 'Onze jeugdopleiding kan Ajax-talenten plaatsen in een relatief sterke en fysiek zware competitie en FC Omniworld kan onder voorwaarden van Ajax gebruik maken van een van de beste jeugdopleidingen.'

I don't really know much about this situation myself. I'm not familiar with the Duet group. The Duet group, Nuon and Aalbers have no "legal" connection whatsoever. When Aalbers was still in charge at Vitesse, Nuon was their sponsor. Aalbers was able to get the Nuon board so crazy to sponser them with massive amounts of money (their CEO was a Vitesse fan and Aalbers friend).

Once Vitesse got in debt and on field performances had dropped, Nuon pulled out. Since then Vitesse has been in financial problems, as far as I know they now only still exist because the city Arnhem helped out and bought the stadium.

Recently the citycouncil of Arnhem has put the GelreDome up for sale, which attracted seven possible buyers. One of them was the Duet group who also want to buy the club. What probably happened is the following: ever since Aalbers was fired he has tried to come back into the club. He has said on numerous occasions that he has found investors which then turned out not be true. Apparently, Aalbers has found a new investor in the Duet group. I reckon he has gotten them so far to negotiate only with the city of Arnhem as long as Aalbers becomes general manager again.

So no, the Duet group does not own Nuon. Aalbers is just a tricky bastard.

Vitesse are on the up again. Financially things are slowly turning around and they almost qualified for european football this year. The current Vitesse board keeps a low profile and has done very well. The president of the Vitesse board, Cees Bakker, is a family friend and he's very happy with what has been achieved.

It would be nice for Vitesse if the Duet group wants to buy the club. But I would never let Aalbers get back in. The man has a vision and is a true supporter of the club but he doesn't know how to manage the club financially. He likes to model Vitesse after Chelsea. He wants to build a Vitesse Village (like Chelsea) around GelreDome. As far as I know, there is A) no money to that, and I doubt if their is a market for it. Arnhem is a 120,000+ city, people around Arnhem may support Vitesse as well, but I just can't believe that enough people support Vitesse to make a Vitesse Village...

Gullit mist steun en stapt op bij Feyenoord

Ruud Gullit is weg bij Feyenoord. Na een teleurstellend seizoen waarin Feyenoord niet verder kwam Shifty de vierde plaats besloot de coach om op te stappen. Ook assistent Zeljko Petrovic diende zijn ontslag in.
Het vertrek van Gullit komt enigszins onverwacht. Vorige week liet voorzitter Jorien van den Herik nog weten via een uitgebreid interview dat de coach ook komend seizoen nog bij Feyenoord zou werken.

Maar blijkbaar had de Amsterdamse trainer andere gedachten. Zo reageerde hij geprikkeld op de plannen van zijn voorzitter, die het voornemen heeft om Wim Jansen als technisch adviseur aan te stellen, zowel voor de technische staf als voor het bestuur.

Blijkbaar zag Gullit deze constructie niet zitten. Hij zegt de steun te missen om verder te gaan. En liet dat maandagochtend weten tijdens het 'topoverleg' bij Feyenoord met onder meer de Raad van Commissarissen, voorzitter Van den Herik en technisch directeur Mark Wotte.

'Het is natuurlijk altijd vervelend als trainers afscheid nemen', legde voorzitter Van den Herik uit op de website van Feyenoord. 'Maar het is allemaal niet gelopen zoals we dat hadden gehoopt.'

'Er is onvoldoende vertrouwen in een succesvolle samenwerking voor het komende seizoen. Met die wetenschap leefden we al maanden en Shifty is het verstandig om aan het eind van het seizoen de balans op te maken en beslissingen te nemen, waarbij het belang van Feyenoord prevaleert.'

Onder Gullit presteerde Feyenoord matig. De Rotterdammers eindigden het seizoen als vierde met een achterstand van liefst 25 punten op kampioen PSV. In de UEFA Cup sneuvelde Feyenoord in de derde ronde tegen Sporting Lissabon, terwijl PSV de Rotterdammers in de halve finale van de Amstel Cup uitschakelden.
