she's actually announced the Harry Potter series will only be 7 books.

Yeah, the saga only covers Harry's 7 years at Hogwarts. As for speculation about the characters, I reckon that Hermione and Harry will end up as a couple by the end of the next book - I also think Ron might get killed. Rowling isn't afraid to kill people close to Harry (like Sirius Black) and Ron's death (probably at the hands of Voldemort) could well be the final spur for Harry to destroy him. I only hope that the final piece of the HP jigsaw is as entertaining and gripping as the end of book 6. And yeah It'd be cool to see England win the Quidditch World Cup in book 7!

I thought the world cup was every 4 years? Well, I sure hope they don't cancel it somehow, that would suck(the cup I mean). Now that I found out the cup will be in book 7, the book would have to be huge to cover everything. It would be great if Rowling came out with TWO books, each under the same umbrella, Harry Potter 7(book1)+book2. Both at the same time, it would sure make more sense than having one giant, dictionary-sized book.

Just finished reading Life Of Pi today by Yann Martel and I have to say that it was better than Half Blood Prince. Not trying to diss on Harry Potter here but I like books that have lots of imagery, Harry Potter series certainly has lots of it (although the movies have taked some of it away) but if anybody else is into those kinds of books than check out Life Of Pi it's absolutely brilliant. I was actually sad when I finished the book :(.

edit: sad because there were no pages left that is...

We know his soul is in 7 parts, the ring, diary and the locket have all been destroyed by the end of book 6,we also know Voldemort himself has a bit of soul left. Which leaves three items left to be found.

Harry and Dumbledore suspected that the 3 items are things from each of the founders.

The locket was a fake!

Don't know about Harry and Hermione, it seems pretty obvious to me that it will be her and Ron together, since for 5 books now since the third one that would always like get jelous when one of them with be with somebody else and especially in the last one with Hermione getting jelous at Lavender.

Where do you guys get that there will be Quidditch World Cup in book 7?
Read here in the Rowling interview that there would be no more Quidditch from her: http://www.mugglenet.com/jkrinterview2.shtml, somewhere at the top of the interview. Pretty interesting btw, she also confirms that it's Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione.
Here is the funniest part of the interview that i read:
______________________________________________
ES: How much time do you go on the fan sites?

JKR: ... I did go in the MuggleNet chatroom, it was hysterical. That was the first time I ever Googled Harry Potter. I was just falling into these things and Leaky — actually Leaky I already knew about, but I discovered MuggleNet that first-ever afternoon and I went in the chatroom, and it was so funny. I was treated with outright contempt. [Laughter.] It was funny, I can't tell you.

ES: I’d like to apologize for, uh -

JKR: No, no no no, not in a horrible way, but, "Yeah, yeah, shut up, you're not a regular, you don't know a thing." You can imagine!

Internet chatrooms at it's best, lol.

Damn, i hate having that feeling after i have finished reading a book and then like having that post-reading depression. The book is so well written, that you just need to read more, i read John Grisham's The Firm right before reading HBP and after finishing it did not think for a moment about it, but after finishing HP, i still try to find out as much as possible about the 7th book.

I studied Life of Pi for my English literature course, and I thought it was not that great a book. People tell me how much they love it, so perhaps I had raised expectations for it, but I thought it was average at most, and boring in parts.

I've read the HPB and I found it an enjoyable read, one that makes you keep reading. I think Snape will have something to do to help Harry and prove he's not evil. The only reason snape killed Dumbledore was because of the Unbreakable Vow. The way Dumbledore says "Severus . . . . Severus" also seems to be almost begging to be killed, maybe the potion he drunk had something to do with it? Then Snape doesn't hurt Harry when he is being chased - if he was truly on Voldemort's side wouldn't he bound him and take him for Voldemort to kill?

Book 7 is going to be very interesting, I hope it just doesnt turn out like a 1980's RPG game where they find the parts and finish up! I hope they do go back to Hogwarts. :)

I nearly cried at the end of the book when i realised Dumbledore was really dead. I also have this theory that Snape isn't evil, he just killed dumbledore because of the un breakable vow OR he was under the imperius curse since the beginning of the book.

I also think that RAB is Sirius' brother, Regulus, but im not sure if the family tree mentioned a middle name of A....

On another note, even if Harry does find all the Horcruxes in the next book, how is he to destroy them without them destroying him first? I believe he has to go back to school or take lessons from Mcgonagall or something.

Same here, when DB died I just kept reading on, not really thinking it was true, as the book started to shrink down I was just thinking, "how is she going to reveal that DB is really alive and the whole plot in 5 pages?". Then the truth hit me by the last chapter.

btw, the locket WAS fake, but if you read the note inside, the writer says he destroyed the REAL locket many years ago.

No, the note actually says that he is going to destroy it, but we don't know whether RAB did destroy it or no for sure.
