Harry Potter Book Thread.

I thought since Filipower's first thread was turned into trash, that I would just make a new thread.

Most people have had time to read number 6 by now I think. What do you guys think?

This is without a doubt the best of the 6, I didn't really like number 5 much(compared to other books, it was amazing, to the other HP...not so much) because there seemed to be a lot of filler and slow points. There is non of that in number 6. The action starts from the first chapter, afterall, there is an allout war going on, both in the muggle and wizarding worlds.

I know I am going tos ound like a real loser when saying this....but what happens at the end is nothing less than shocking. Nothing that happens at the end I could have expected before the last book. The people who die, the people that kill them and Harry's plans for his 7th year, among other things, would not be a bad ending to the potter books, yet she chose to put them in this one. I will tell you one thing though, which was almost more shocking than the people who get killed, the 7th and final book will NOT take place at Hogwarts, unless rowling throws another curve ball.

The book also matures a great deal. No longer are people just frozen or knocked out with spells, but there is a great deal of blood, torture and graphic deaths. In fact one of the Weasleys is mangled and disfigured by a Werewolf before the end of the book.

Just finished it. Really good, probably the best one so far in the series and about the way it ends well all I can say is that the last one can't come out any sooner.

BTW did anybody else feel that the name of the book was just a bit well not as important as the title of a book should be, the whole Half Blood Prince thing seemed out of place at times and the way the truth about it was revealed just left a lot to be desired imo, I hope a lot more will be revealed in the last book.

My take is that Hogwarts will be open, Rowling can't just leave all those characters behind and not use them at all in the last book but even if it will it probably wont play as big a role as in the first six because of what Harry says to Hermione and Ron in the last chapter.

Good read (Y)

I really didn't think much about the importance of the HBP in the book. The book was just so good that I really was not worried about him. In fact it was a bit of a shock when it was just revealed at the end. I see what you mean though, it kind of feels like she just got lost in writing this amazing plot, so she just threw it in there in the dieing moments of the book.

As for Hogwarts, I am not too sure, we have to say goodbye to all the people somehow(I think she is setting up for that now, with all the deaths and romances), To close Hogwarts, and seeing how much people love these books, it would leave a ton of unanswered questions about what the other teachers did after and how the students will learn magic, etc. However, I kind of feel that she is going to go along with Harry's plan in the last book. There is too much to be done and too many "things" to be found in order to destroy the dark lord, to have the setting of the book in Hogwarts. There is just no way she would be able to bring genuine closer to the book if it is set at Hogwarts and not as a huge detective-type mission.

btw, what I didn't like was how the Order was revealed in the last book, I thought there would be more suspense or drama, since it had to do with the title of the book, but it was just like, "here, we are the order,go **** yourself"

Help?

Fan Favourite
Didn't read the book yet, but from what i hear, it seems like a great book, that only a crazy person could write. Can't wait.

Took a little while to get going, but the middle gathered pace. It's a lot more graphic and adult orientated than the previous ones and in the final chapters there is just shock after shock. Also it leaves questions for the final book (as all good saga pieces do) In fact the final third of this book is amongst the finest writing I have ever read. If no7 continues at the pace this one left off at, then it is worth a 2 year wait!

Hahaha yeah I know what you mean about the Order, I thought the exact same thing when it was revealed it was just like "ummm ok......." kind of passage but I got over it.

As for the next book, yeah I'm sure that it will be just Harry, Ron and Hermione (probably Ginny as well) who go search for the (not gonna spoil) things but I'm sure that Hogwarts will still be a pretty important part of the book.

I hope Ginny is in it, and I hope that Harry and her romance rekindles. It was a very refreshing romance in comparison to that of Ron and Lavender, or Harry and Cho. Of all the great moments in all of the HP books, one of the best was when Harry and Ginny first kissed.

I'm assuming that R.A.B. is Regulus, Sirius's brother, solely because it wouldn't be right for the plot to introduce another new character who is strong enough to seriously aid Harry. By using Regulus as the one who took it, it makes Harry's job a little easier, although he is without Dumbledore's guidance and skill. Also, if the 7th is going to be about Harry, Ron, Hermione, and maybe Ginny, then it would be bad to throw a brand new adult into the picture. Regulus is dead, so that wouldn't be a problem.

I hope that the group who goes out together is Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Lupin, and Tonks. However, I can't see Lupin allowing himself to endanger the kids with his werewolf transformations.

It makes sense that it could be Regulus, him being a death eater and all that. But didn't he die a while ago?

Also, was looking at book 2 after I read it, just to check something on Harry and Ginny. But my eye landed on when Harry was is Burkes and Borgins, when he is accidentally travelled there by floo-powder. He sees Malfoy staring at a necklace, saying "beware: has taken 14 lives already" or something along those lines. Cool huh?

Was quite annoyed at how insignificant that person being the Half Blood Prince was. In terms of I thought it would be a bigger matter.

These tie ins occur quite frequently, as J.K Rowling had outlined the main plots of all seven books pretty much together. Then she sets to work on the details of each one.

well, i think, and hope, that R.A.B. isn't Siriu's brother..i mean, we're talkin about a character whose powers rival dumbledore's..and that's sayin somethin...

anyway, i think HBP is deffinitly the best one yet..i just loved it..and, as everyone, i guess, i was shocked in the end, even touched, with the death..but don't wanna go to far or i'll be spoilin:p

Hakeem, i read that somewhere about the radio guy in Atlanta.. what a looser, and a dead man too :p
