Guardiola's Manchester City Thread

He has the best squad in the league and I would not expect anything less. I don't know why you are all "impressed" except for the fact that the manager is a bald man who's name is "Joe Guardiola". He is doing what he is expected to, that's it. Nothing miraculous or exceptional. Pellegrini was out of his depth last season and now City has Joe who is known to win things with star players.

You can't say he's made "an impact" after just 3 games. I'd give at least 10 games before making an assessment.

Are you kidding me? This is like a whole new team and they are playing attractive, beautiful football after only a few games already. I am impressed, I thought it would take more than a few weeks.

They have more players who can play "beautiful football" than any other EPL clubs. You have to give the players the credits too. He can't play "beautiful football" without footballers who can play "beautiful football".

lool ... c'mon nady ... just look at sterling ...

What? You mean his hairstyle? He looks like a prostitute.

Just kidding. Sterling played well but he's the kind of player you expect to play like this anyway. Also you cannot assess him after just 3 games. Players form go up and down so its not only down to the manager. It's up to the player too.

Credit to the players too but this is mostly on Pep. Also it is known that he makes his players better.

Sterling: "Reborn? I keep hearing that word. The manager has been great...he has given us a lot more confidence."

United vs. Citeh next ... right after international break ... at least we are the host ... btw, FA should ban Aguero for that elbow ...

Credits to Joe G but I am not really "impressed" because this is exactly what I expected him to do anyway. I have said it a few times; I think City will win the league because they have the best players and they have a manager who can play with the best players.

After 3 games, Chelsea and Man U have looked promising too so far. Arsenal not so much and Liverpool didn't start the season that well.

If Pep wins the league with city in his first attempt I will acknowledge him as a great manager, but it's a big if. It's like a old season again where it could come down to the head to heads, rather than who sheds the most points to mediocre teams, and that is really exciting. Don't worry - I'm not covering pep in glory yet, the improvement of sterling and others could just be down to new manager bounce or the sense of optimism due to peps name rather than his abilities. I still don't like guardiola or man city and I will be cheering against them. But if he does develop stones and sterling he will be doing me a favour as an England fan and if he does win this very difficult title season I will acknowledge him.

I'm not starting this whole argument again but needless to say you just can't compare winning a CL with Porto to winning a CL with Messi or a trebel with inter to a treble with Barcelona and winning CLs with multiple clubs to winning CLs with just one Messi containing club.

But I disagree with nady that us Mourinho fans can use 'city have the best squad' as an excuse if they win this season - Mourinho was handed 100m pogba and others and this season is a fair fight in terms of personnel.

Conte's chelsea will definitely be min the mix too ... they are playing well ... Hazard is on excellent form ... not Europe distraction and apparently Jams will join Conte and co as well ...

for some weird reason, they played 3 away games in a row and two of them against Arsenal and Spurs ... I think they did quite well ... I watched their game against Spurs ... they really dominated ... I mean raped Spurs ... It's just football beauty that mach ended up 1-1 ...

From first 3 weeks observation, I see Citeh, United, Chelsea and Liverpool in title mix ... Spurs and Leicester will fall further when UCL continues ... and no chance for Arsenal unless they vastly improve ...

Jesus, these days people really don't give a shit about the way a team plays.

Arsenal has been playing "beautiful football" (From what Barcelona fans say) but what have they achieved in the last decade?

I am not using this as an excuse. It is a fact that Man City has the best squad.

Man U are close but there are still discrepancies. For example Fellaini is the best partner to Pogba, or Valencia as right back (although he is very promising this season) and Rooney is undroppable due to his "legendary" status. Overall Man City is the most balanced, no question about that. The only weakness they have is Clichy.

Fair enough. The only bad game would be the 80 % possession against Burnley then.
