French fans?

Why is france so under represented when it comes to support. The french supporters where not plentiful in Portugal, they are not plentiful in SG, and in general it seems that France doesn't seem to have many fans. For a country of 60million people, it doesn't seem to have all the support that other even smaller nations have. I've seen more swedish and danish fans than French, and this is supposed to be one of the best teams in the world. Am I wrong, or is there really something wrong with the French support (or lack of it).

different countries care more or less about their team than others, and i think france think they are too good for the tournament... thats why they blew it in the wc and against greece... they just too c0cky

Come on, just because one or two French players are arrogant, because they can be, mind you, doesn't mean the whole of France are too cocky and think too highly of themselves.

I didnt say the whole team was. did you see the greece-france game? they werent even playing there best because they knew they were gonna trash them in the second half. But hey wat is dis a goal by greece omg!!!!It was only after dat gol did we see the real france play. That is wat i meant. Just because they won the euro 4 years ago they go out there and think they could win when there not even playing there best. Thats b.S.

Its been 4 months since i first entered this forum and yet, ive never seen a French fan. There are tons of Portuguese (majority glory hunters), English fans, Italian fans, and little Spanish fans, but indeed, ive never seen a french fan in SGF.... And in general (world wide) i have no idea if France is a popular nation, personaly, im no fan of France....

What a load of bollocks. I was at the EC2000 finals and there were plenty of French supporters. I think the main reason for no thaving so many french people here is because not many speak/write good english. France has definately got a lot of fans.

yeah the french, like some people from other countries like England and Germany are generally not fond of speaking other people's languages.

They rather discuss in their own forums.

oh come on the french football team are well known for loosing against some easy teams simply because they are so sure they are gonna win. then by time they realise its not gonna be so easy and they have to actually try its too late. and not being racist or anything french in general seem to think they are too good for everyone else, like u said they are too good for these boards lol

I don't think France's fans are any different from any other country's fans. I remember being in Lyon back in 1998... France had reached the finals and there were thousands on the street.

French people are on French forums. There is less need for a French person to learn English as French is spoken more than less common languages.

how are Porto and Benfica fans glory hunters? I don't get how supporting a club you've followed all your life makes you a glory hunter? ..and if you mean that the majority are Porto and Benfica fans, then well those are two of the most popular clubs in Portugal, in fact I would say that Sporting is more popular than Porto. It's no different than in any other country...most of the English fans here are either Arsenal or Man. Utd. fans, and I sure see a lot of Real Madrid sigs in here. Most Scottish fans must be glory hunters too because Celtic and Rangers are the most popular clubs there.. try again.

also for your info, not ALL Portugese fans in here support Porto or Benfica, some support Sporting, Boavista, Guimaraes, Beira-Mar...

I used to just read the posts for years until I registered in 2002..

i strated coz of FIFA as well. i used to read from like January last year then i stopped coming for like 6 months, then i just registered in December.

also-Hanek i think you'll find that teams like Real Madrid and Manchester United have a lot more gloryhunter fans than Porto and Benfica
