So, if Im to understand some of the previous posts correctly, pressing forward puts topspin on the ball to make it dip under the bar? With that in mind, can you take more powerful shots?
I've only been using the left and right directions for curve. It seems that I have to hit the ball very softly to keep it from going over the bar. Getting off a real cracker didn't seem possible, but perhaps it will be now. Alternatively, does pressing down send the ball into the clouds!?
Someone else mentioned aiming for a gap between heads in the wall. Generally, I've been aiming to one side of the wall and trying to curve it back inside the post. I haven't had much success, even in the "Practice Free Kick" mode. The topspin will hopefully change that, but in the past I would always blast it over the bar. When shooting with less power in an attempt to try to keep the shot on goal, the keeper would almost always cover the distance and make the save.
I'm playing PES2 via a PS1 emulator on the PC, if it makes any difference.
Thanks for the tips folks. I now wonder how I put up with the FIFA series for so long. The two games are miles apart!
