France x Greece [P+R]

The object of the game is to win and not entertain, I don't much like to watch Greece play but they're efficient. They have shown that they only need a couple chances to get a goal, then they defend well (exept against Russia)

I thought Greece played a very intellegent match against France, obviously France has better players but Greece won the chess match..

It´s obvious that the objective in football is to win and i´m not saying that the Greek NT doesn´t deserve to be in the Semi finals, they were the better team against France but i´m glad that we still have teams that want to play attacking and enjoying football, the only thing i´m saying is that the football style of the greeks is very ugly to the fans to see (off course with the exception of the greek fans), and in a game where the greeks are playing the game always turn to be a very hard and disputed game but with no attactive footbal for us fans to see, they run a lot, they have their minds only in not letting the other team play and football like that it´s no fun to see. Try to imagine all the teams playing that way and then tell me that you would like it that way.

When i watch Greece play i always remember of Boavista, competitive side, hard to beat but very ugly and boring to watch, how many games with Boavista in the last 2/3 years did you see that were spectacular or well played?

hehe I've never seen an entertaining Boavista match, just lots of fouls and yellow cards!

This one's rich!!! If Lymbe21 is a dumbass for supporting his NT then I have some news for you. There is about 10M of us (dumbasses) back home, not to mention others abroad. Yes we enjoy the Greece's trimumphs and paraise them for their accompishments. If that makes us all dumbasses, so be it.

Quick note: When someone says "Bravo, good job" and the next statment is "Greece plays boaring football" I think (and I'm going on a hunch here) that people may take that as a negative comment. Just a hunch...

In conclusion, because we have beaten this subject to death, my friends, if you believe the level of football Greece is playing putting you to slep thats fine. Its very tasteless.

Funny thing is that so many really boring teams have won major titles in the history of football-just to name some: Steaua(Champions' Cup winners 1986), Germany(you can choose title and year), AC Milan (CL winners 2003), FC Bayern(CL winners 2001) etc. etc., not to name some really boring finalists. And, all of a sudden, you found the one and only guilty team: GREECE.

We know when and how to defense. Something that NOBODY noticed: England lost to France in the closing minutes. We did not. Why? Because we defended FLAWLESSLY. as another person said in this thread, many boring teams have reached finals or even won championships...

milan in 2003 CL final
italy in euro 2000

bottom line is whether you or any one else likes it Greece is winning and if they continue to have Rehangel as a coach and play suffocating defense as they have no one will stop them.....

about how beautiful they play..........I don't see any difference from other boring games....yesterday's Sweden/Holland game for example...there were chances on both side.....in the France/Greece game there were chances on both sides...the better man won in both cases....

you know what IS boring...Greek bashing....be happy that another team in Europe is rising while the old,tried, and true is falling.....it's about time.......

myself, I am looking forward to the Turkey-Greece games in world cup qualifiers......the atmosphere will be electric and the football will be on the same level as the rest of Europe

I hear you talking about Spain, Portugal, France etc. In my opinion, apart from Czech Rep. ALL the other 15 teams played in the same BORING style (if you like this term that much...).

When did Spain play attracting football??? Against us or against Russia??? I'm not telling that Spain CAN'T play good football, I'm just saying they DIDN'T play good football in Euro 2004. Of course, they're a good, talented team, but they didn't prove that in Portugal and they played like crap (no offense to all of the Spanish fans, I really think you have a great team...)

So, stop accusing the Greek team, only because someone said something and everyone else accepted it... They're not playing worse than most of the other teams...

if Slovenia was in the Euro and they played, im sorry to say it again, boring football like that, i would have absolutely no problem. I understand you guys, its your team, and im sure noone else here would complain if the team that they root for with their heart, would play 8 in defence and 2 in front, and won it all. As many said, football is about winning, and not about showing off skills, the latter is only for more entertaining football.

And i kinda agree, this euro has been pretty ****, apart from the Portugal games, and the Chezchs - Holland game. it just seems as the teams dont care, and the morale is in dog****.

The last time a greek team played a turkish team was pao-fenerbache in the uefa cup. Pao won 4-1 and tied 1-1. Man those games are going to be intense, they better get a really good referee.

The two nations have played against one another in the under 23 qualifiers Greece won 4-3!!!!!
