File Master 2006

Rinaldo, I have read nothing but good things about your File Master program.

I am trying to get NET Framework running so I can use it. Can you tell me what version of NET Framework is best to have installed?

I am also having a tough time getting NET Framework installed and if you can help at all that would be much appreciated.

Here is a list of what went wrong:

I installed NET Framework 1.1.

I Installed your program.

When I run the File Master I get this error:

Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.

Process id=0x8d8 (2264), Thread id-0x890(2192)

Click ok to terminate
cancel to debug.

I rebooted and tried again. Same error. I then reinstalled NET framework 1.1 and reinstalled File Master. Same error.

I then installed NET Framework 1.1 service pack 1, and the same error.

So I installed NET Framework version 2 beta and got the same error.

Then I gave up. NET Framework is annoying. I installed and reinstalled and uninstalled 1.1 1.1 SP1 2.0 etc.

Same error every time.

Add to that, NET Framework has no clear area where it is installed. How the heck do you even configure it? NET Framework forums were worthless.

I really would like to get it installed. I'll do some more google searches and try to figure out what is wrong.

Oh yes, also I am running Windows XP Pro, have a 120 gig HD, have plenty of RAM, etc.

I have Norton Antivirus 2005 running also.

Do you need to open up any tcp or udp ports for NET Framework?

Sorry but I am not really an expert of .NET framework, I just suppose that if you get the last update from Microsoft free download area it should work fine. I had no other reports of errors with different version of .NET framework but if somebody has, please let me know in this thread.

Cool. Thanks for replying.

To make matters more frustrating, I downloaded that fifa editor from France that Billy posted about in another thread.

Surprisingly it worked. It uses NET Framework too. What I did was download NET Framework 1.1 instead of allowing the windows update service to install it.

Cheers! I thought, it's all working. But when I tried to start your program, the same exception error is generated. So then I went back to the French editor and now it doesn't work again. I rebooted and get errors in both programs.

So I installed the service pack for 1.1. Same errors. So then I installed NET Framework 2 same errors.

The error in the French program is different. It acts like it's already loaded and it won't load twice. Even though I can't find where it's loaded nor do I see it running in my task manager processes.

This really could not be more annoying.

As someone who loves to edit this kind of stuff, having the correct and great tools is such a bonus. NET Framework is preventing me from having these great tools and is frustrating me to no end.

Basically, if my life depended upon NET Framework working I would be dead. :nape:

OK.

I do not understand this at all.

I have now tried to get this working on a fresh windows xp home operating system.

I downloaded the NET Framework 1.1 and then the referees patch which has File Master 06 included.

You know what? Same problem. And this is a completely different computer.

I think there is something wrong with the File Master 06 included with the referees patch.

What more do you do with NET Framework then grab it and install it? There is nowhere to change settings or any GUI I see to check preferences or anything. NET Framework just is.

This is lame.

Now to make it worse for me, Fifadata2006 works. It needs NET Framework too.

So it's not my NET Framework.

I'll try to find File Master somewhere else and do another clean install.

I can't think of what else to do here.

Sorry but I am not able to help you on how to have a proper installation of .NET framework, I just know that my programs need to have it installed in order to work, but all the interactions between my program and the .NET framework is automatically managed by the Microsoft Visual Studio .NET and not from code written by me. What I can say is that I use version 1.1.4322 SP1.

Try Filemaster 1.2 then, that's the current version.

That was the link from Sweetpatch.....the only link to File Master from there. I did get FileMaster 1.2 from the Italian site instead, thanks though.
