yes.......it is a S*** to use the menu..........

And i also cant find how "fatboy/lazy" make any sense.....?????/
Any one who have played the game can only feel how unrealistic it is.....
ayway......i think it is not so bad as i thought.........atleast they r
heading the right way.....
Just think.........fifa98,99,2000,2001,2002,wc2002...........are almost the same game..........and they suffer from 2 basic problem

1.Static , prescripted gameplay
2.Ball sticking to feet

But now......it is completly removed, graphics is great, gameplay is random!, broadcast cam angle...........etc........and i dont think the
gameplay is so bad........it is more realistic.......

1.tuff to score
2.Diff betwwen great and avg player
3.Fatigue effect.......etc..

Now it is impossible to score just by pressing buttons......i think........

You are spot on with that. I cant understand people who say 'go out and play then, but this is a computer game'.
I play football regular, not competitive anymore though I used to.
I want my computer game to represent as closely as possible the game as I watch on TV and used to play. Anything else (like most of the Fifas, is just a frustration. I dont see players in real life backing off till your opponent has controled the ball, or after the shot has rebounded to thier keeper/defender, or players running in that big circumference, or defenders who cannot speed up till they have touched the ball. And when I decide I want my defender not to head the ball, but he has time for it to drop to his feet, I get that fart little header drops to the opponent.
I really wonder if they do it on purpose every year, they make some aspects good, but then there are defiencies that werent there the year before. I wonder if they think 'we cant produce the perfect game because they wont buy anymore after that'.
Now that does sound stupid, but then why has the game gone backwards in some areas every new release.
Just remember all the Fifas, and if you could piece the good things from them all you would have a wonderful game. But EA fail to do this, so tell me wots the answer?

I know some people are very good at this game, I have played them. But they are just used to using the faults to their advantage (like that offside bug for eg).

This game is not the football that I know.
If Pro evo had online community this Fifa would be in the bin for me and many other PC peeps.

Another ****in problem is when you get a red card in coppa italia(cassano:kader: (H) ) you can't play the next game which is usually a season game, when you should really only not be able to play the next coppa italia game.

Im sorry to have initiated such a big fight in this forum. I believe however one should be open to different viewpoints...

I do want to clarify one thing: My complaint list is not to denounce EA or anything, nor am I that crazy to expect that a game will be so realistic that it can simulate every human motion to the highest precision. All I want to say is I dont understand why some features and achievements that had been produced in earlier versions have disappeared. I also dont understand what sort of testers (or do they have any) they employ which would allow such poor products. I really believe EA owes everyone who buys the game a big apologies.

I just checked out the forum of the official website of FIFA2004. I agree with one message there: I dont give a damn how good the graphics is, I think as gamers we would be happy with one stadium and two teams as long as the gameplay is good. That's why we got hooked up with earlier FIFA versions in the first place I believe. And that's why everyone is turning to PES or Winning Eleven 7. Take WE7 as an example: they dont have that many teams or stadia or crazy feature, and the version Im playing is japanese which I can hardly read any. But anyone who has played it will get hooked up once. Why? Because they present superior and impeccable gameplay rather than all kinds of nonsense movies and graphics.

Let me reiterate: I buy the game to play and enjoy, I dont buy the game to watch a movie.

I dont know where to start first, but I just need to say Im one of those FIFA series supporters who have bought the series from FIFA96. There are obviously ups and downs throughout, and I still miss FIFA98, ROTC98 and FIFA2003. In fact I missed them so much that I uninstall FIFA2004 and reinstall FIFA2003 (with a outsider patch though, sigh...)

FIFA2004 is a new lowpoint for EA really, and here's my list, which I suggest people to keep on adding...
1) extremely slow players
2) sticky players with invisibly big size that balls got stuck and run round their bodies easily
3) super defenders who easily catches your ball and only know how to bunt the ball upfield
4) pinball like ball physics
5) everyone agrees: all goalkeepers are supermen, catch every balls
6) the closer the shot to the goal, the worse the aim and power whereas the further away from the goal, the more powerful the shot -> 40 yard goal
7) where the hell is the creation centre: for players, and customisable leagues?
8) banana like parabola for a shot
9) stupid free kick / corner system: cant even control your drop spot
10) what kind of menu is that
11) what kind of league table is that, has EA reverted to 40 column screen
12) team formation display, 8 players only?
13) slippery floor
14) poor research in every aspect of the game
15) I dont know which goon is responsible for the overall architecture of the game: but has EA done any alpha testing, not to even mention beta? This game wont go through the most basic test and even the most ardent EA supporters. Giving a patch 2 days after the game is released and still bugful? What are they doing
17) Where is the instant replay recorder?
18) The prestigious point systems doesnt work
19) Poor highlight after the game
19) The list goes on...

In a nutshell, the gameplay sucks badly. Im really wondering what kind of amateur programmer EA employs. They probably rewrite every games every year, which sees gameplay (or without it) changes every year. Everytime I try to play it, I get more angry... I need enjoyment from a game, not loathe.

Of course there are something great about FIFA2004. Its graphics and audio is awesome. Motson and McCoist mumbles rubbish sometimes, but audio is not bad. The player's face, which looks still like a sculpture is good and its like a movie. Ah that's the point, EA is producing a movie or a sim from FIFA2004. They are not selling a game. EA is Electronic Arts, not Games. Maybe we're expecting too much from an amateur.

My wishlist for FIFA2005? I hope it'll never come out, and let others do the job for soccer gamers.

Amen.

Whenever I play this game, it frustrated me ever more to no end. Horrible control. Horrible gameplay.

I'm switching to PES3. See ya, EA!

I'm also disappointed there's no weather involved, always bright sunny, days....not that I have anything against that, but for realism's sake a few snowy or rainy days could go a long way

I really don't know why some peopl bother themselves to talk about the deficiencies of the game, though I fully agree with all of what they have said, yet I feel like I've read that same exact topic last year, and the year before it, and the year before it, all the way back to 1999.

I think that by now all of us should have already realized that EA DOESN'T want to create a perfect or nearly perfect soccer game. And frankly I don't blame them. The people are trying to make a living here. If they created that perfect game then they won't be able to create other soccer games and so they'll lose money. That's why, every year, they just produce a new game, adding some good new features and taking out some good old features that were present in previous titles. That's the only way that would enable them to tempt soccer fans every year to buy their game hoping to see that perfect soccer game that will never ever by created by EA.

Fifa 2004 is not a super soccer title, but IMO it's far more better than Fifa 2003. The graphics and audio are great as usual though Motson's "stuttering" sounds so stupid and fake. The gameplay has improved. The human controlled defenders are much better now than Fifa2003. Attacking was frustrating at the beginning as I wasn't able to get the ball anywhere close to the opponent's 18 yrds box (Pro level). But now after getting some useful notes from the people on this forum I've improved a lot especially after depending more on using the OTB system and changing my style from short ground passes to the good old English long ball style.

EA will remain the best selling soccer title for PC as long as it remians the ONLY title available for PC. I've tried PES3's demo but it didn't work on my machine (got that slo mo bug) so I'm not sure whether to get it or not. I've played WE and PES before on the PSone and WE2002 was far more better (gameplay wise) than any Fifa title ever released. But the game is too old now and it doesn't provide all those options you get in FIFA games.

I'd advise EA to try to improve their soccer games if that PES3 turned out to be a winner. If Konami succeeded on PC as they did with the PS, then EA wouldn't have much chance to stand against them with that kind of soccer games they've been producing since 1999.

Till this moment, the best soccer game ever released for the PC remains the one and only RTWC98. If only EA could have made all their soccer games as good as that one.

2. NO Japanese team, and the korean team wastes too much space with their faces. and they are way overrated!

They are underrated you idiot...but I do admit that Japan should be in the game...

Anyway Back to topic, I really want them to fix some online laggy problem and stuff like that and keep on updating patches...!

Same question I've been wondering

IMO EA have to look at:

-Gameplay from RTWC98

-In game management from FIFA2000. You could preset 3 IGMs and by pressing spacebar you could change the IGM.

-crowd detail and chants from 2003. Away fans wearing the shirts of the home team in 2004. Might be a minor blunder but for me its almost the biggest. :P

is it just me or do EA reach a 'milestone' in making FIFA every time the World Cup come around.

think about that:p

217) sticky players with invisibly big size that balls got stuck and run round their bodies easilyl
218) super defenders who easily catches your ball and only know how to bunt the ball upfieldl
219) pinball like ball physics
220) everyone agrees: all goalkeepers are supermen, catch every balls
221) the closer the shot to the goal, the worse the aim and power whereas the further away from the goal, the more powerful the shot -> 40 yard goal
222) where the hell is the creation centre: for players, and customisable leagues?
223) banana like parabola for a shot
224) stupid free kick / corner system: cant even control your drop spot
225) what kind of menu is that
226) what kind of league table is that, has EA reverted to 40 column screen
227) team formation display, 8 players only?
228) slippery floor
229) poor research in every aspect of the game
230) I dont know which goon is responsible for the overall architecture of the game: but has EA done any alpha testing, not to even mention beta? This game wont go through the most basic test and even the most ardent EA supporters. Giving a patch 2 days after the game is released and still bugful? What are they doing
231) Where is the instant replay recorder?
232) The prestigious point systems doesnt work

the biggest bug about fifa2004 is definitly the CL and the other leagues thats realy frutrating when you play it if I play a soccer game I want that atleast the leagues are realistic, and thats not the case in fifa2004 but why can EA bring a patch out to fix it,I think its only the database you have to change a bit

Holy f*cking ****, that is great. Your usually an a-hole, but I must say, very nice work.

I'll add this to my dissapointment list

No really guys. This is a big waste of time. We've gone through this the last 5 years or more. There are thousends of dissapointments. What makes you think our complaints will make any difference this time round? Its a cycle, and I don't see it ending. You can either take FIFA for what it is, or play a different game.

These EA poeple are either incompetent or they just don't give a sh!t. I keep bringing this up, but another game has set a standard, and when FIFA has SO MANY BUGS and is still so far behind, well it has to be one of the above.
