FIFA 23 - Improved Grass/Turf/Pitch

Hey, everyone. I was trying to find a mod to change the turf/pitch of the game, but I haven't found any, so I decided to give it a shot and try to modify it by myself, as I did for FIFA 18 back then.

Hey, everyone. I was trying to find a mod to change the turf/pitch of the game, but I haven't found any, so I decided to give it a shot and try to modify it by myself, as I did for FIFA 18 back then.

I always try to achieve a clean look. I know this is not for everyone.

As to improvements, I've been trying to increase details and stuff, but it has been difficult to get the perfect result. I'm kinda giving up to be honest. It takes a lot of time to edit the files, load up the game, test it, and do it all over again. There are only 2 main textures file that make some difference, and I haven't been able to achieve the kind of result I was aiming for, but I'll share some of my recent changes.

The differences are subtle between each other, but there is some minor changes, specially up close.

Thank you that you share another turf edit. I must say your edits on my Msi monitor didn‘ look subtil. It‘s a very good saturated green color to see. On my friends 4K Tv the look is a bit different. The colors didn’t that green as on my monitor. What I really like is the smoothness of the turfs. The default EA Pitch is ways to noisy and the colors are somewhat eye cancer. But I guess that’s why you had workin on it.

But I fully understand this edit - test - edit - test thing is annoying. Blew out the fun for playing the game. When you edit the turf textures with Photoshop maybe than is it similar way by increasing or decreasing the light of the textures. I tried it back in 2018 with your FIFA 18 textures of your mod by increasing the light in photoshop to get a nice effect in FIFA 19 turf too. But it looks totally different. Yeah EA did a good job to let modders suffer by editing the game.

I will test your upload later that day. I am curious to see. Btw imo there are not much better turfs on the market that are paid ones I could test the last time than your here.

Yeah, FIFA 23 has been different to edit the textures. FIFA 18 was the last FIFA that I tried some editing.

I haven't been able to change the color of the grass. It certainly can't be achieved by changing only the textures itself, you can only adjust how bright or dark it may look, as you have mentioned.

Well, I have spent some more time trying some different approaches, and I came up with some results that are good enough for me. I guess I'm done. EA developers can't make the definitive realistic turf, HOW are we suppose to do it, right? :P Well, at least we can try to achieve different results to better suit our likings.

These are my last and final attempts. I'm pretty much done with it, and kinda satisfied to be honest. It might not look that realistic, but I find them good to look at in-game. I've also applied subtle wear even to no-wear turfs, to add more variety to the textures itself. Believe me, it does help. I'll leave some comparisons.

I'm not sure what you mean, mate. Turf related textures are the same for every stadium in the game.

Can you please share the mowpatterns? Thank you! I have worked on wear patterns and mowpatterns before for Fifa . I noticed these two elements play an integral part in the pitch folder. They dictate how clean the grass is and also how the reflection of the colors in the lines appear on the grass.

I haven't really changed mowpatterns. Wearpattern and Flowpattern are the only ones that make some difference in FIFA 23, and I have changed only Wear Patterns. There a lot of legacy files that don't change anything in this FIFA 23, I'm not sure why those files are there in the first place. It's basically a mess between old and next-gen FIFA files.
