Fifa 2004 is alright.

I played fifa2003 for months because there was no other real alternative on PC (I am a PC gaming only). I concluded it was a half decent attempt on a soccer game and EA were definately going in the right direction...but simple things like unable to head a ball when there is no opposing player near you is frustrating. I thought 2004 would clean these bugs and really give it a good go and become the Best. When I got the 2004 demo my first impression on it was it was definately an improvement on 2003 but after playing it for a couple of days thats when I started to suss out the faults and typical EA limitations. But hell i thought this was the best PC could offer so I thought its good enough to buy. Until I heard PES3 demo was available to download...and here everything changed... PES3 just exposes all of EA's gameplay faults even worse.

If all you guys here truly want a good simulation of football take it from an Ex-fifa boy give PES3 some time and patiance and you will be rewarded.

I don't think PES3 gameplay is so different from FIFA2004, i played both the demos ... and IMO the two games have quite similiar gameplays this year.
Anyway... this is only my opinion after playing tons of matches in both the demos.

i agree the player is too slow (abnormally slow), normal walking speed should be around a half or a quarter of their running speed, and the field is too large thats why making it so bad.

And there is no doubt fifa is under pressure, because sports game should use gamepad to develop. Konami (dedicately ) head in this way, thus got a refine better game. IMHO anway.

You don't have to use the run button continually, you need it to accelerate the pace of your players when you want it,to take advantage upon your opponents Just like in real.
Look at a real football match and tell me if the players run like crazy during 90 minutes. The ones who are not close to the ball or don't participate to an action are walking most of the time.
Football is not a 100m race.

Lol stop moaning.... this game wasnt made for lone running, dribbling, skill.....EA aimed mostly on the team work skills of football....and face it , its a team game.....i think EA has coped well with asspects of the game and that the stats reflec with the player awsomely ....
EA has done well this year and it is worth the cash
