lol, Maniche is smart. What hell is he searching in Russia, apart from meeting up with already dozens of portugese players playing there? Surely that's not his long term ambitious move to a club that will challenge for the Champions league title in the near future.

From a neutral point of view, he is dumb, doesn't make sense at all. But from a belarussian point of view, that's very good for russian teams. We all saw what portugese did to CSKA this season and russians finally realizing that it's better to buy portugese, rather than brazilians is a good thing too. The league is getting stronger and stronger every season now.

Well, I agree your league is getting stronger every year. It's undeniable: you got a team in a UEFA Cup final, lots of quality players in various teams and more and more media attention throughout europe. There's still a long road to go, but buying a quality player like Maniche still in his prime is taking a few steps forward.
I'm just sorry Maniche couldn't motivate himself during this past year, so it's better for everybody if he does leave.

Talking about today's game, we can't afford to lose points... if we want at least the second place we have to win these last 2 games, it's the least we can do after a disgusting season. :rolleyes:

Former Alkmaar coach Co Adriaanse is the new man in charge of Porto

"Portuguese SuperLiga side FC Porto have announced that they have appointed Co Adriaanse as coach.
The Dutch coach, who guided AZ Alkmaar to the UEFA Cup semi-finals and third place in the Eredivisie this season, will be officially unveiled at a news conference on Tuesday. Porto, who finished second in the Portuguese top flight, three points behind champions SL Benfica, parted company with José Couceiro on Sunday after their final league game of the season."

So what do you guys think, will this one put us back on track?

One thing is for sure, he'll have a lot of work to do. Getting to know every single player on the squad, plus the ones who are on loan, plus the whole club spirit and all...
I hope he likes it here, and that he can do some right choices too concerning the players to stay and leave.
All of them will start from 0 so who knows there could be some confidence gained by some players who were already discarded by Couceiro...
I still believe in Fabiano you know :p

Kromkamp, Landzaat, and Van Der Vaart are the names that follow Co's name on the papers..can anyone tell me something about AZ's pair?
I know enough from Rafael, and I like his game although the word is the guy's a ho.
But, he would be a good choice to our midfield, we need quality and quantity for the long season!

My hopes are high, I trust Co to be someone experienced enough to guide Porto to glory once again :sun:

This is what I wrote earlier on Kromkamp: Kromkamp is a great right-back, he's van Basten's first choice for that position on the national team. He's what people would call an attack-type back because he's very much involved in offensive play. He's a solid defender though with his defensive heading being his only weak point that I can think of. Adriaanse knows van der Vaart really good from his Ajax team. Adriaanse was head of the Ajax academy and he was the one that brought him to the first team. Kromkamp himself said he wants to leave and the Scheringa (AZ Director) has already put a price-tag on him: 15 million euro.

Denny Landzaat is a midfielder from the Ajax academy who never broke through in Van Gaal's squad during the mid-90s. In my opinion, he's the best midfielder Holland has after Mark van Bommel. He's a holding midfielder but not a true defensive-minded one, so you'll see him go up the field and score if necessary.

Anyway, the van der Vaart-HSV deal might collapse because HSV might not be able afford him. Good luck to Porto and Adriaanse, you've got a new fan.

WTF!! If that's his price then I don't want him to come.
I mean, we've just sold Seitaridis by 10 million € and he is an European champion with Greece...
Guess we'll just have to search for a better option, or try to get those 15 million down to...say, 10? Yeah that would do :p

Landzaat's already 29... that is not cool, but if he's as good as you say he is then I must cheer for him to come. And with Adriaanse having so much faith in him..bring him on!
We must replace Costinha's and Maniche's place on the midfield anyway, but those 2 won't be easily forgotten...

VdV would be a great addition to our midfield as I've said before...he and Diego would do wonders together (H)

Good luck to Porto and Adriaanse, you've got a new fan.

m8 think with me, Quaresma usual plays as a winger so there are three contenders for the AMC position (CM (H)). Isn't it normal for a squad to have this number of players for that position?
The coach may want to play with two of them in the starting 11, there may be injuries...and as I've said before we need quantity and quality at each position for the long season. there is the league, cup, and CL..

So even if that's a problem for the coach, it's a good one :rockman:

Paulo Da Silva

Starting XI
our line-up can look like this next season:

=======================Baia======================
Krompkamp===Ricardo Costa===Pedro Emanuel===Leandro/Nuno Valente
======================Landzaat====================
Quaresma============Ibson/Gonzalez=========Van Der Vaart
=======================Diego======================
===================Postiga/Vagner Love===============

I think this can work very well, don't you guys think so?

i'm drooling already, just at the thaought of having such a starting line-up

and with subs like:
Bosingwa
Meireles
Paulo Machado
Lisandro Lopez
Hugo Almeida
Ivanildo
Jorge Costa
Pepe

......and so on

i can't wait to dethrone benfica already.

"Contratámos um jogador que era conhecido como Fabuloso. Estivemos algum tempo à espera porque o Barcelona estava interessado nele e pensávamos que tínhamos uma espécie de Jardel, um fabuloso goleador. Não sabíamos que, no final da época, teria apenas três golos. Se soubesse isso teria promovido o ponta-de-lança dos juniores"

Pinto da Costa in O Jogo

Ok, Fabiano is definitely leaving after this one (6)

Paulo that would be a good 11 without a doubt, but for f'cks sake keep Pepe out of the squad :jambo:

Yes, altough I think it's a sh'tty deal for us, and for him.
Good money for both club and player, ok, but even if he's not been consistent this season, I actually like his game a lot. So it'll be a bad loss for the club.
The player, f'ck, why does he have to go to Russia too? He deserved a much better league at least...

lol, well you can't blame a guy, he is going to play for a club whose owner is pretty much like Abramovich. He promised to spend 100 million pounds on Dynamo in 1 year to make them the best in russia. What's good about this thief is that at least he uses the money back on people that he stole it from and not on some club in another country.

Well I hope at least all these players leaving will actually help them become a better club in the future, because if the team doesn't come up with results and fails to put its name between the european elite, they will drown with it.

Good luck Dinamo, really.

You're welcome Socrates
btw, Real had its chance before Euro2004, sorry (6)

actually, Dynamo's future doesn't look bright: Oleg Romantsev, who has bought all the Portuguese players, has left the team because of 4 losses in a row. so all these new-bought players will have to work with the new coach.
