2008 -> "João Moutinho is a Porto kind of player."

2013 -> "Only one Sporting player has the quality to play in Porto, Rui Patrício."

How good is Christian Atsu? Sky reporting Liverpool have made a "cut price" £3 million bid...
All I know is AVB's a fan and wanted him at Spurs this Jan..

He still needs to develop a lot. Especially in the physical aspect, I reckon he'll be eaten alive by most defenders in the PL unless he bulks up fast...aside from that he's quick and has good technique.
To be honest, I thought he would've been an important player for us last season but he ended up falling way short of expectations. 3M could be a bargain in case he actually lives up to his potential but at the moment I guess it's an acceptable fee, especially if we consider his contract expires next season.

Patrício is really good (he's got nothing on Helton's footwork though (H)) but we don't need him atm. Nevertheless It won't surprise me if we snatch him up a couple of seasons from now :browsmiley:

Really?

When I see him play, I think of an unpolished, right footed James. Very skilled, a bit individualistic but can take over games. He's a very dangerous winger. Porto never seems to miss a beat.

Looking good (H)
It's nothing official, but a really strong rumour. I'd say he's definitely set for us.

Because he wants Herrera to be the natural sub for Moutinho, and I reckon he will be.
Josué is likely to take the James spot, he actually played a similar role at Paços. He'll have to prove he's better than the opposition though, for instance Juan Quintero from Pescara is supposed to join us soon...

Herrera with a good DM is a joy to watch. He's a box to box midfielder that isn't afraid to get his hands dirty retrieving the ball and is pretty good on attack. He can run for days and has good vision.

Hoping he solidified his spot after tonight's performance, but Mexico's manager has a tendency to play favorites despite how shitty they play (Salcido, Reyna, De Nigris, Barrera are good examples), but now that the noose is tightening due to the team severely under performing, I'm hopeful that he'll be pushed to make the necessary changes.

Anyway, yeah, Herrera needs to GTFO the Mexican league.

Oh I get it, makes sense. Yeah I just mean I like how we're buying all these young Portuguese guys, it's great. But yeah if Herrera is better I have no problem with him playing!

This reminds me of a certain pre-season when we brought in like 8 portuguese players and among those we had the likes of Nuno Valente, Maniche, Paulo Ferreira and Pedro Emanuel... :browsmiley:

Haha, no :p The other portuguese players weren't bad at all, I've just mentioned the starters!
César Peixoto, Nuno, Bruno, Tiago and Marco Ferreira...maybe apart from Bruno (ex-Marítimo) and Tiago (ex-Leiria) they were all good options at the time, and got decent playing time (ok, Nuno was Baía's sub so rarely got to play).
I remember Peixoto was in amazing form before getting gravely injured. Also, one can't forget about Marco Ferreira's influence in Derlei's goal against Celtic (H)

I was getting really confused with all the rumours but his name never really came up!

It actually makes sense considering most of the new players coming in are from the portuguese league...
