I think Rakitic is decent but the (plausible) aim of this Barcelona should be to have an unimprovable player in every position and pogba is gone so you should go for coutinho

No, he can't play with Pogba because Pogba like to go forward and at Man U he won't have Busquets doing the dirty job behind him and Pogba certainly wouldn't do that.

Rakitic does the dirty work here, that's why most players wouldn't fit in this system like he does. No, Coutinho would be a disaster, Rakitic is basically our second DM.

He's fine, I know he's fine, but my belief and premise is that every club, every season, needs to be looking to upgrade and improve their first eleven (and squad of 25) from what it was the season before, even if it won everything the season before. When clubs don't, when they believe that everything is perfect and they rest on their laurels, they inevitably fall back. This happened to Barcelona (and Chelsea btw) last season and has happened to innumerate clubs before. Looking at that Barcelona first 11, there is not much you can improve, many of the players are among the best in the world if not the very best in the world in their positions. You cannot say this is the case for Rakitic. There ARE better centre midfield partners for Iniesta than Rakitic out there. A club like Barcelona should be on a never ending quest for the perfect team and needs to think like this.

Another problem is we already have MSN and we can't afford another huge wage. (Pogba for example). Verratti doesn't want to leave. There really aren't better options than these 2.

Verratti isn't really the style that you want if you're out to replace Rakitic. IMO you should be after a box-to-box crazy person who offers balance between Busquets' holding role and Iniesta's passing perfection. Vidal would have been really good, as would have Renato Sanches, Saul, Koke. Guys like that.

But honestly, I'd just stick with Rakitic because as I said, he is a system player who found the perfect system. You ride that until it fails IMO.
