5 years in football is a long time. Players who were 13 back then are now 18. We will see in another 5 years and I could be wrong but so far there is no indication that the "Elite development team" is any better than any other EPL academies. There has not been much progress at all in 5 years.

I know when they got rich they invested very heavily in academy both money and innovation and take it very seriously, unlike some other blue wearing premier league teams with sugar daddies :(

It's not just about "okay well you've had these 18 year olds since they were 13, so you should have a few world beaters in that generation. Tell me, how many players does Man U or Bayern or Real or Barca produce for the first team each year? Some years we don't have any. It's not just about training a few players either, it's also about scouting the area and bringing in kids. Yes the training is important, but you also need kids who are willing to put in the work and blessed with natural ability.

I agree and I am not saying that the Elite development squad is mediocre, just that it is not better than other EPL or other main league academies. That name makes it sound that its something special but its not. Talent is hard to find in England.

If an academy at a club like man city produces just one first team star and a few players that can be sold every few years it's doing its job

Agreed. I'm content with the recent progress at ours since our youth revamp. Very little in the sense that academy grads are getting moves through out Europe but its a good beginning.

You have to marvel at Lyon's work of recent times. If they got their stadium and finances sorted earlier. They'd have a potential world class front 3 of Martial-Lacazette-Fekir. Maybe, keep the likes of Umtiti and like they rejected huge money for Tolisso.

Fekir btw is legit. World class potential.

Lyon academy teaches Juego de posición to children too. That the best game model to develop inteligent players.

Well, there aren't many from City academy who are playing in top flight teams. In 2015/16, just 6 City academy players featured in the EPL. As comparison, Man U had 22 academy players featuring in the EPL. This includes players like Fletcher, Cathcart and Drinkwater.

There is no apparent progress in the Man City "Elite development squad" since it was introduced 5 years ago.

Are you declaring the current incarnation of City's academy a bust because it hasn't been as productive as United's, despite it existing for barely five years?

Marlon did very well the other day and today is starting. he actually seems a good player, poor in build up but fast, aggresive and good in the air.

!With Vietto, Gameiro, Jesús gone and Gabigol likely joining Inter we might should kept Munir as 4th striker. He has a lot of goal.

Exactly, he is a finisher and thats it. Dont ask him to dribble or pass well, inside the box is his zone.
