Hello Rinaldo, thanks again for your interest in developing this tool. What I meant was a UV map of the model all in white, not of our imported pictures. Kind of like unwrapping the face of the model into a flat picture.

I am evaluating to develope a tool for Face Makers but I am not a face maker at all. Which features do you think a tool like that should have ?

I have my own list:
  • Start from any existing model or texture.
  • Start from any real picture of a player.
  • Merge Head and Hair models from different files.
  • Stretch the real picture of the player over an existing texture using some reference points manually defined (e.g. eyes, nose, mouth etc)
  • Adapt skin tone: select a reference point, select a target point. Find the rgb transformation that makes the target point equal to the reference point and apply it to the area imported from the original picture.
  • Change rgb components in the texture
  • Preview 3D

Post here your opinion please.

Merge Head and Hair models from different files. i think this very needed, id love that tool. let us know when u got something to tell us about this tool !:Carlos*o:

I think a longer Undo option like in Photoshop will be good . Also it will be good if we had only 1 dot model, (like in OEdit) but moveable, to be easier for us to edit form . Option like in PES 2008 to preview how a picture will stand on the model will be good . Also easier and more debugged swap of hairs and the most important and hard - making or separating the standalone hair parts

Yes, using the body model you could provide not only a face preview, but also a whole player preview, maybe interesting (not fundamental) for making a good neck. About transparencies I think that png is the better way and it already works in CM, so I don't think this can be a problem to insert in this tool ;)

Ah Rinaldo, given that you don't want to make a tool like oedit (what a pity, that tool is really old now!), according to me it would be wonderful if you managed to export the .o model in rhino files and then import points from rhino file. This could be used also with stadiums and other .o model, but more important: this could help facemaker because someone could leave oedit in his folder and start using rhino to edit faces that is surely more technical.
It's true: oedit has already a Rhino points exporting function, but it does not work properly where for example the export function with VRML file works very well, but you don't have the respective import function, so only exportation is unuseful :(

Great tool Rinaldo. Waiting for it :)

Ah forgotten: very important: for fusion hair-face, I think that it would be very important to allow also fusion between generic face (no hair) and a player, or generic hair (no face) and a player, or finally generic hair and generic face ;)

It sounds really great Rinaldo.. But I have one verry important question. Is it possible to run the Programm on Windows Vista? Cause I, and a lot of other face-makers too, have Windows Vista and it's not possibly to run Oedit on it... If this tool works on Vista it would be verry nice :D

There's no help so follow this short tutorial:
1) Load a real picture and a face texture to start from
2) Modify RGB tones so that they fit nicely
3) Enable the mask on the real picture and adapt the mask to the face
4) Click the refresh button in the merged texture, you will see the real picture merged with the original texture
5) click the snapshot button on the merged texture, this will generate the final texture
6) use the smoothing tool to remove abrupt transitions in the final image
7) Save you final texure.
