f*ckin ref was crap! and the third was goal was unlucky ...

out in the semis again ... there goes one piece of the treble we were supposedly in contention for ... the defence continues to be convincing, and the attack is disconcertingly void of real creativity ...

Well it could have been worse, the ref could have not blown his wistle when Silva took a quite freekick (ala Getafe style) which Joaquin whould have scored from...but overall he is equally **** for both sides.

Your defence was rather weak though, the second goal of Valencia was a ****up in the box with 3 of your players and the third goal I have to ask first off what was Milito doing when Silva easily took him out and than Zambrotta just standing there like an idiot doing nothing as Mata scored. Eitherway the last 10 mins was quite crazy and it was funny seeing Puyol beat the crap out of David Villa in the corner flag.

did I say "convincing"?!! what a typo! I missed out the two most important letters: "U" and "N" ... I've edited the post now ...

anyway, you're right about the ref being crap for both sides ... doesn't change the fact that he was crap ... I'd rather win knowing there are no unnecessary ifs and buts caused by the ref/assistants ...

the late siege was tense ... if we had managed to get a goal, we would all be saying what a thriller the game was ... but why wait till there's almost no time to attack with furious intent?

but conceding two goals in the first half is just not champions material -- well, not if you can't answer them with plenty more ... and it's not like the defence was makeshift or anything ... but that third goal really was unlucky ... Xavi was on the line to clear if VV hadn't gotten a touch ... but it's a "what if" situation again, and it's more closer to an excuse than anything ...

it would be an overreaction and far too early to say that the summer will see a small but significant clearout ... but things really haven't improved since last season ... how many times must this team and this coach be punished before the lessons are learnt? as a fan, one can only hope for the best ...

Koeman's always been a winning Cup coach ... I like him for my early footballing memories of him at Barça, and then for guiding one of my favourite squads at Ajax to a League and Cup double in 2002, and then within 30 seconds of a semifinal spot in the Champions League in 2003 ... hope Valencia take the cup and rescue their season ...

on a related note ... BarçaTV were doing a profile on Josep Fusté (who played in the 60s and 70s) ... ironically, he was talking about how we were losing 2-0 to Valencia in the Cup in '68 (I think), and the coach brought him on as a supersub ... he went on to score, and Barça went on to win the match 4-3! if only lightning struck twice ...

I was also wondering this, you guys seemed mroe dangerous in the second half than the first where there was pretty much no real chances to score other than 2 headers if I remember right but the second half you guys were more dangerous. Either way it was kind of suprising to see Valencia play some actual good football at times and their defence seemed pretty sharp for the most part, lets just hope it's the same case when they play us. Either way it was a pretty good game to watch.

Wake up!we are in the 3rd place!

Be serious! We couldn't lose that game even if we would have played until tomorrow morning...Valladolid played fantastic I don't have what to say but they couldn't win this game I want to say something...If every team would have played in Bernabeu like they played on Camp Nou the distance between us and them will be much little...Don't forget that Valladolid is the team who was beaten by Real 7-1 ... Adn see the last 3 games in Camp Nou ... 5-1 with Levante 1-2 Villareal and today 4-1 against Valladolid...In every game the opposite team had a penalty...

Guys, don't make the mistake of believing in the team.

Facts:

- we suck
- we always come close and then piss it all away disgracefully
- the players don't give a ****
- we suck
- we won't win the title
- we suck

If you are feeling optimistic now - don't. It will save you from a lot of disappointment later on when the team decides to waste yet another shot at replacing Madrid as leaders. It's just all too funny and sad at the same time.

Tonight was a win against a weak team that Madrid beat 7-0. We weren't even up at half-time. Ridiculous.

The defense leaks too much, the midfield passes the ball around slowly and inaccurately, and the attack is confused and our attackers out of position. Bojan and Henry are playing as wingers while Eto'o can't control a pass. Ronaldinho is Ronaldinho and who the hell knows what the **** is going on with Deco and Marquez? Milito's middle name is Risky and even Puyol underperforms. Yaya plays injured because a team of world class stars can't do without him. Messi is injured. Giovani for some reason can't get more playing time despite the fact that he is the only winger we have alongside Messi. Oleguer could return after he recovers from another injury.

There are more problems, I'm sure I forgot to mention a lot of things, like Txiki not being impressed by Modrić and the team not practicing set pieces in training. Just awful.

There's no reason for optimism.

The league is long gone, we need a remontada and a new shot at the title next season when the Club is in order again.

Visca el Barca and don't you dare feel optimistic about this season!

I could see that happening.

Although, as someone on another forum already mentioned, maybe it would be better to finish third. Not only would it add more urgency to the remontada, but also it would block any attempt to go on another global tour of collecting cash at the expense of physical condition. I hate our USA-Japan-China tours. I know we earn a lot there that enables us to make big transfers and pay out high salaries, but still it's time to focus on important things.

IMO, 2nd is better than 3rd only on paper.

Visca el Barca and don't you dare feel optimistic about this season!

Vedran-get this pessimism and negativity out of here man! Why shouldn't we be optimistic?? Sure, we have not played good football this season, but despite everything else, we are only 4pts behind Madrid! You mentioned so many things wrong with the club, and yet you ignore the countless injuries we have had this season.

The defense leaks too much, the midfield passes the ball around slowly and inaccurately, and the attack is confused and our attackers out of position.

Maybe the defense leaks too much because Zambrotta keeps getting injured, so Puyol has to move out right and is wasted there. He keeps getting shuffled around, thus affecting his ability to gel and focus. Let's not forget that Marquez has been injured forever, and the Puyol-Marquez partnership is quite formidible. I don't think Puyol has managed to gel with Milito yet.

Bojan and Henry are playing as wingers while Eto'o can't control a pass.

Eto'o cannot control a pass? Maybe you should watch a few more games. And if you do that, then you'll also see that Bojan Henry and Eto'o constantly change positions throughout the game, and they don't play in one position the whole time.

Ronaldinho is Ronaldinho and who the hell knows what the **** is going on with Deco and Marquez?

They all keep getting injured, it's not their fault, it's bad frikin luck.

Milito's middle name is Risky and even Puyol underperforms.

See above.

Yaya plays injured because a team of world class stars can't do without him.

This I agree with, we do rely on him too much and its a bad thing.

Messi is injured. Giovani for some reason can't get more playing time despite the fact that he is the only winger we have alongside Messi.

Gio is injured, what the hell is wrong with you, stop being ridiculous. And so is Messi! Who else do u want us to play if Gio, Messi, and Ronaldinho are injured? Pedrito? Ezquerro?

Oleguer could return after he recovers from another injury.

Yes, that will solve ALL our problems....not.

Sorry for being an ass, but your post really pissed me off. At one point or another, our entire starting XI has been injured this season, and yet we are in the QF of CL, semis of Copa, and 4pts behind leaders in the league. If we didn't have all these injury problems, things would be different. Madrid had only a fraction of the injury problems we did, and they did worse than us in both CL and Copa, and are only 4pts ahead. Have you forgotten that REM have all been fit for only 3 games all season??? Where would madrid be if robinho, raul, and ruud were only fit together for 3 games, along with Guti, Ramos, and Cannavaro all missing large portions of the season as well? Not in first, and probably more than 4pts behind!! Also, I'd be very interested when the last time was that we played the same starting XI 2 matches in a row...I'm sure you have to go a loooong way back.

So next time we win 4-1, please don't come in here and bitch about everythign that's wrong with the team. We have overcome a lot, and have accomplished a lot. Things are not as easy as they were 2 seasons ago, but this is in no way a disasterous season. Marquez, Deco, and Ronaldinho are expected to return for our game against Betis this weekend, and that'll make a HUGE differnce, as will Messi's return before the CL semis which we hopefully reach.

Visca el Barca, only Copa is lost, and we can still do a double this season!!

also, don't forget that madrid play sevilla at home next weekend, right after an int'l break. we play a lowly betis team, which won't be easy, but any sane individual would prefer betis over sevilla 10 times out of 10. theoretically, it could be 1pt gap next weekend. can we be optimistic then????

Vedran-get this pessimism...

Okay...

1. The pessimism and negativity has been a constant in the Barcelonismo for over a year now. In the Valladolid game, some people showed up at the stadium with white handkerchiefs, and there was a flag saying "Aren't you ashamed of yourselves"? People are pessimistic and very, VERY, disappointed. The whole Barcelonismo have been watching the same bull**** for the past two seasons and we're fed up. This team plays like they don't want the title.

2. With the amount of talent and cash we possess, we have no right to complain about injuries. Get it through your head - we have an entire team of world class players, we MUST perform consistently regardless of injuries.

3. The defense leaks because of low concentration and poor tactics. Nothing is affected with Puyi. You do realize he started off as a right-back? He can play both positions and is equally adept in both. Puyol - Rafa stopped being formidable after the 05-06 season. Puyol and Milito haven't gelled yet? They should have, it doesn't take much for defenders to form a mutual understanding, and these guys have been playing together for over half a year now.

4. I do watch and Eto'o indeed has technique problems. He's always had them, but they're more highlighted now since we aren't doing well and people focus on flaws that we used to ignore. If they all constantly change positions, why did Titi complain about being played as a winger all the time? It takes a lot for a player to tell the press that he isn't happy with the position he's being played in.

5. This proves you aren't completely in tune with what's going on. Ronaldinho is faking his injuries, and so is Marquez most probably. R10 complained about an injury only to have the medical staff confirm there is none, and Rafa has been misteriously injured for quite some time now, what's up with that! Deco injured himself during a warm-up (!!) while Yaya can play injured!! Leave it out! These three choose the games they want to play in, and they want to play the CL, hence all these "injuries" until push comes to shove in Europe. On another forum, with people that live in the city and go to games and are generally more informed than others, I read very interesting things that give you a new perspective. You should try it, maybe it will show you that things aren't black and white and "injuries" aren't always injuries. Fact is, some of the players have become real assholes and some others are following their example.

6. Keep up with the general idea of my post. I wasn't talking about a specific game, but rather business as usual. Giovani usually doesn't get enough minutes, considering his talent and the level of "performance" from those who are playing. I hate seeing Gio come in after 80 or 85 minutes. He needs more time. And it's ridiculous to mention Santi, he isn't material in this by any means.

7. Again, you're showing clear signs of sheer inability to understand simple things. Go back and read the article where I mention Oleguinho, the one that starts with "The defense leaks too much...". It's obvious that nothing mentioned in that article is a good thing. The general mood of the article is quite negative and then I mention Oleguer... I didn't just throw that in randomly, as it's also meant to be a negative that he could come back. Really, dude, pay more attention because it's annoying to get attacked like this and have to point out at blatant gaps in your reply.

My mood is negative about la Liga and the CL and it will continue to be, quite rightfully so. We haven't shown anything worth being positive about. Madrid lost to Valencia because of an odd off-day for Iker and an amazing display of goalkeeping by Timo Hildebrand. Valencia's tactics were poor and lets not forget they got a penalty in the Bernabeu, which happens rarely. Basically, in nine games out of ten Madrid beats Valencia. Last night was that tenth game where they somehow manage to lose despite having EVERY chance to win. It was lucky for everyone except Madrid.

You have to forget about the gap being decreased and think rationally now. We've had the gap at only two points and still managed to bring it back to eight. This is by no means a more optimistic situation than that of a few weeks ago when the gap was almost minimal. We are still playing very poor and can't challenge like this.

I've been hoping for two seasons now and I won't be a fool anymore. Even if we DO manage to win this league (which we won't), it will be the worst la Liga title in history, one that is NOT worth winning. No one wants it and the performances clearly show it. No one is interested enough. There are standards and they must be upheld. We need to finish third and, with the obligation of playing the CL qualifications, cancel our bull**** tours and concentrate on football. It would also be nice to at least save some pride and make it into the Champions League semi-finals. It will sound nice to say that we've been among the top four in Europe. But we need to eliminate a team to do that and we'll see how that goes.

All in all, faith in this group of players is something I've lost. I absolutely love the club to the death and always will, and that is precisely why I want us to finish third. We need a really PAINFUL result, one that will make heads fall. We need an overhaul, a remontada. It will damage us now, but in the long run it will be better. If we win the league, there is a danger of some of the cancers to remain with the team, and that mustn't be allowed. If we finish trophyless without even direct CL qualification, there will be an explosion and people will be forced out of the Club. A lot of players and coach staff need to leave as soon as possible.
If this happens and we have ourselves one nice, juicy remontada, it will be better for the Club's future. The filth must go in order for the good things to develop properly. The future is always more important. If things don't go as I expect, it may fool people and not get the required job done.

the guy has a point , the same happen before the ronaldinho, etoo, deco, marquez generation , before that its was four years of sequia and we touched rock bottom, then we completely reinvented the team starting with president, coach, and of course a breed of relative young but experienced players with potential to become sueperstars, dinho, etoo, deco and marquez exploded when tey came to barca, maybe its time now to use the same pattern before we end up with more years of sequia.....
