dont think fred would come, coz he knows when the injured players come back he wont play.

forlan and kanoute cant play for u guys, because they have already played more then 5 games in la liga.

the only real chances u got there are makaay and klose.

well a lot of players have sacrifice a starting lineup just to come to barca or real madrid for that matter; so i dont think that would be a major issue; plus money talks this time a days; but i would be satisfied if huntelaar comes; tought he may not come cheap he is worth it

I don't think someone like Fred or Huntelaar would risk the bench to come to Barca.

It would be a different situation if we told them: "Come here and fight for a first team place", that would represent a challenge.
But it's obvious Eto'o will be the starting striker when he comes back and, frankly, there's nothing any other striker in the world can do to take Eto'o's place. Samu has cemented it, and now I think it's even more cemented, seeing as how much we miss him.

To me, it's clear that anyone who comes will play until Eto'o recovers. And I don't think it'll take him much longer, either.

well some good news; i just read in a spanish site that marquez is going to be offcialy a spaniard starting the 24 of this month;so that leaves a free space for a non european player; and that with this rijkaard is seriously considering promoting dos santos to the first team; i hope all this is true ; and seeing vedran seems to think we dont need anybody or to buy nobody lol ; i think this would make him happy lol; just kidding mate hehehe;

seriously ; marquez citizenship coulndt come at any better time; we really need some better options than guddy, ezquerro or giuly; and giovanni has some amazing potential;

Good news to an extent.

Giovani won't be promoted to the first team. It's not because of legal barriers, but because of the fact that, while he is a non-EU national, he can't switch from the first team to the B team.
When Marquez gets a new nationality, Giovani could be promoted, in which case he wouldn't be able to play for Barca B for the rest of this season. However, if Giovani got an EU nationality, he would be able to switch however we saw fit, but he can't get it yet.
It comes down to whether we are ready to risk two things:
1. promoting such a prospect too soon, and
2. leaving Barca B without their best player

No.1 isn't as big a problem as no.2, because if you read recent interviews, you'd see that the staff is reluctant to promote Giovani. He wouldn't be able to come back to Barca B, and someone from the Club said that the B team really needed him, which only means they know the fans want him promoted and they're explaining why he won't be.
There's also the problem of him not playing later on. When Eto'o gets fit, soon after Messi will come back, too. Saviola will come back soon enough as well, so basically Giovani would play only for a month or two, and that's in the best scenario for him. This means that, come February, he wouldn't be able to play anymore because we'd have the cracks back. This wouldn't be good because such a young prospect needs to develop all the time, and the Club won't risk him spending 4+ months in the stands, because that would happen seeing as he wouldn't get to play for the first team and he wouldn't be able to go back to Barca B.

And it's not like I don't want anyone, I'm just questioning whether it's worth bringing someone. If we do, it has to be a quality player who can help us, and if he's quality, we're likely to pay some good money for him. That wouldn't be wise because Messi and Eto'o will return so the new player would sit on the bench for the rest of the season.
The only choice seems to be Larsson.

agree on all points mate; but to be honest i do see giovanni having some good playing time after etoo, messi and saviola comeback; etoo wont be and issue imo; cuase they play very diferent positions so their wont be any conflict of positions; plus we have all saw that messi tought he is one of barcas stars he is still been part of the rotation strategy;and saviola well we all now whats saviolas role in tha team right now; plus giovanni is very polivalent; he is more of a second striker and he can play on both flanks; even on dinhos position (ironicly to me thats his position he has played better) in resume he can play offensibly talking in any position; but i agree the only thing is if barca are willing to risk promoting him ; but to be honest i really think barca have more to gain than losing with this decision.

Vedran-10

Starting XI
Well, Giovani's performance in the first team is only a part of everything.

What should also be considered is Barca B and their chances without Giovani. The Club won't ignore its B team, and I think Barca B have a lot more to lose than the first team have to win from this potential promotion.

All in all, I prefer to wait until next season.

now we are beeing linked to amauri from palermo ; i have saw some couple of games from him; he has great ability with the ball; but i dont think thats the kind of striker we need; but with this its clear barca are looking and for sure are going to buy a new striker when january comes.

yep 3 more points an were are on top again like it should be; the only shame is that mallorcas goal was marquez fault; el kaizer needs to clear those kinda balls fast

btw strange substitution; why did rijkaard took puyol off?

holy crap; its win or nothing against bremen next week; the only minor advantage is that we play home ; but i dont think its gonna make any diference; bremen are going to play their hearts out and we must do the same; i can only the say its gonna be a cracker; i heat barca in this kinda of circunstances; but i must admit too i love the adrenaline of this kinda games lol;

How did my boy Eidur play today? I think the match vs Bremen won't be that difficult, The Barca boys know they have to win that one to qualify, and being on home soil, they will give all they got into the game, so I predict that Chelsea and Barca will qualify from this group

Well, it's not gonna be easy. I think we've all seen what they can do, they won Chelsea yesterday. Key players are injured but I think that with discipline play and moving the ball well barca can kepp the 3 points home and go on to the next round. They even have a chance to win the group but that would happen only if Chelsea would lose to Levski. Anyway, I'm convinced that they will take it.

Visca Barca!

Dream Team

Starting XI
Fortunately the game will be at the Camp Nou. It'll be a great match. Werder Bremen have beaten Chelsea and they almost beat Barça before, but at the Camp Nou Barça is always favorite. It'll be a final. If we can't beat them at home, then we don't deserve to go through.

man, the next match will be a tough one, barca vs. bremen. fortunately, we are playing at nou camp so we will have the advantage of playing at home. i wish eto'o and messi and saviola would be able to play right now!

long live barca!

and yes, even though i am from germany, i still love barca even more than german clubs :D

Today Marquez has received the spanish passport so now we only have 2 non-Eu players in the first team.

That means Dos Santos could play with the first team if needed or that we could sign another non-EU player.

big game today against villareal. i was reading the preview on sky sports website, and it kinda p!ssed me off. check out what Guillem has to say. i usually like his insights, but this is just a little absurd, don't u all think?

BARCELONA v VILLARREAL

"Barca are still not dominating their games as happened against Levski Sofia in mid-week.

They are still not converting their chances and not playing with the intensity demanded in big games, they will need to be at their best against Villarreal.

They are a side who are struggling to find some form with Riquelme out, which is a big blow even though he is not in good form.

That may demand more from the rest of players, especially Cani who has been disappointing since his arrival from Zaragoza.

Nihat is also injured but he had a problem with his knee and hadn't fully recovered so it is no surprise that he is unavailable.

I have to say that as far as Barca are concerned I'm starting to wonder if we are witnessing the end of a cycle as far as their current squad are concerned.

I have tried to ignore the fact but there is too much evidence available now.

Things are not completely right, and if the club was brave enough they could start a new cycle which may even include letting Rijkaard go to Milan and even selling Ronaldinho.

He seems to have his own rules not only on the pitch but also off the pitch. I really believe that this team may have run its course."
