by what barca did today against chelsea, i can tell you guys need an imposing defensive midfielder really bad, not a Edmilson, Marquez, Motta, you need somebody who can actually withstand the physical game and come away with the ball.

oh and by the way Rijkaard is a stubborn coach, i mean bringin Giuly instead of a proper forward (Saviola) was bad.

I think Barca played good and tie is a good result, but I expected a win. I read that Mourinho criticized Barca players after the match for diving... C'mon, didn't he see Drogba or Lampard??? I was'nt that happy when I saw that Motta was in the starting lineup, but he played ok. Lots of yellow cards were given, and in pretty small offences. But at least it was the same through the match.
Also when Motta fell at one point and was getting up, Drogba pushed him to the ground. Refs should see t hose things! Iniesta played well the time he was on the field, Gudjohnsen wasn't seen much in the first half. I hope the injury is nothing serious. Defence was good but it leaked a couple times with not so good results. Anyway good game, although lot of whistles. It wasn't the best football I've seen. I'm still confident that Barca will take care of business and continue to the next round when it's the time for it.

let me get this straight. if barcelona win their next two matches, we go through to the next round correct? if we do that, it doesn't matter whether or not bremen beat chelsea or whatever?

also, i know i don't come on this website very often anymore, but i made the mistake today of going on the main match website. what a joke! on 9 pages, there are like 4 posts made by barca fans, 4 made by chelsea fans, and then theres 8 pages of total trash. this forum is really going downhill, theres no intelligent conversation on here anymore. now everyone's saying barca sucks barca sucks. they don't realize that if we were in any other group we'd be first by quite a margin! ****in no english team ever beat chelsea at home under mourinho until we beat them last year, that was a 4 year record! and these arsenal and man u and liverpool fans come out and criticise us for barely losing to chelsea on one occaison and drawing a game we should have won on the second. when their own teams play chelsea, they get humiliated so bad so this is their way of making themselves feel better.

it's ok, let's take it one game at a time. playing chelsea twice, sevilla, and madrid in two weeks is no easy matter. let's regroup, have some time off, and get back to it. nothing is lost, and the future is still bright. go barca!

yep, we have just to survive until Etoo is back. That will give us the firepower we're missing.

I hope next preseason will be a bit better because our most important players are not fit.

Seriously, why do you still post about El Clasico? You won, fair and square, deserved the three pts and I, along with others, recognized that and congratulated you on your triumph. I didn't blame anything on the ref, and I don't believe the fact that Emerson wasn't sent off is the reason for our defeat. You would have won anyways. I was just replying to a comment about Ronaldinho and his deserved red, because he wasn't the only player on the field who deserved an early shower. Jaouadinho can hold a normal conversation, and he understands what people say. You, however, don't seem to.
And I think we all took our defeat as men. You were congratulated, like I said, and no one put a stain on those three pts. At least I didn't. If you want something more, then I don't know what it is.

This changes nothing in our situation, because even if we were level with Werder on points, or even if we had two pts more than the Germans, we still would have played to win at home. It's simply too risky against a team of Werder's calibre to play for a draw.
I expect us to beat them. We do that and we're through. It's simple and it's not the hardest thing to do, because it IS the Camp Nou, and we have to show the best Barca in that game.
Even if we had won last night, we still would have been aiming to beat Werder, so it's all the same to me.

Yeah... I've been back for 3 1/2 weeks in Toronto....freezing my a$$ off and trying to get good football on TV.

Oh yeah, and working and trying to get used to being in Canada again. :)

Anyway, I agree with you Vedran as usual! OrgulloPendejo, you start to post semi-decent comments, then la cagas con idioteces.

i dont know guys i want to be optimistic like you; but this tie really hurts; and more cause it was in the last freaking minutes of play; i have much respect to chelsea they are a great team and this barca vs chelsea fixture is becoming a european classic; :) ; i hope we get pass this round an the others and meet chelsea in the final.

its ironic that ronaldinho had a good game and we coulndt win this time; well thats football ; i also critisize dinhos lethargic style of the past few games; but lets face it barca really depends on dinhos form and i think this is a little unfair to him; other player like deco, iniesta or xavi need to step up too.

I thing that hurts us more than Eto'o's absence is the rotation system.

It must stop. We have no consistency, Rijkaard has to make up his mind.

I'm sure Ronaldinho will show up. Iniesta will be great as soon as he gets a run in the first team, and for me Deco has been showing up this season. He's had a few bad games but he's also had awesome games.

We have Saviola, who better start earning his big bucks.

If we were to get Tevez, we'd have to spend a lot of money (which I don't believe we have, and if we do, I don't want to waste another euro) and Saviola, a high earner considering his position in the team, would remain on the bench. We don't know how Tevez would fit in. Besides, I think Eto'o will be back in late February/March, so we'd actually only use Tevez for like two or three months, which is not enough for the money we would spend.
Plus, there's Guddy and Giuly. I think we have enough forwards.
The reason why we're even looking for someone else is that our game relies on Eto'o a lot, and we feel his absence more than we should. If we would just get used to playing with a different kind of striker, and get rid of the rotation policy, we'd be ok and no one would want Tevez.

I admire the small Argentine, I think he's a blast, but he would cost too much and wouldn't be used enough. If one day Tevez would come to Barca, I'd expect him to be the starting striker, which he can't be right now, because Eto'o is untouchable.

i agree we dont need that midget; we would be to expensive; plus i think he is very overrated; but i must say we do need a new forward; at least an alternative to guddy and saviola; cuase let face the reality; guddy isnt doing that much ; its to much package to fill etoos shoes; and rijkaard still doesnt seem to trust on saviola either; plus i dont consider giuly as a forward ; he is more of a winger; i pretty optimistic rijkaard is going to bring a new forward when january comes; plus iam still insistent we need a new midfileder a defensive midfielder to be specific;

It would be a mistake to bring a striker who would play for a month, or a month and a half. Waste of money and waste of talent.

Rijkaard doesn't like Saviola, but if there's a fair coach on this planet, it's Rijkaard. He may not like it, but he'll give Saviola his chance. I'm sure of it.

imo Barcelona need another striker. If you are a big big team like Barcelona, you cant have one player in the squad who is your out and out striker. This is where Rijkaard has gambled. Idealy youd have a talented youngster who is a striker, who could fill in and be happy to bide his time when Eto'o is back.

Martins would have been good for Barca. Pauleta would be good for them also i think

i think i get what he is saying barca only have one natrual number 9 in etoo the rest are all media pontas as they call them in spanish, i thinkthey should sell esquero and saviola and buy some one like, ruud van nistelrooy for example who can be the replacement for etoo and tevez is not him.
