Barca boys, congrats on advancing in the champs league and getting your revenge.

We were absolute garbage in the second leg, and that I cannot deny. I have no idea why the team came out so flat, but we were outplayed for almost 180 full minutes, and Ronaldinho scored one of the goals of the tournament through two of the worlds best defenders like they were not even there. I thank god that I was on a cruise while watching the game, because alcohol with which to drown my sorrows was easily at hand.

I nearly forgot about the sig thing until I checked the locked thread. You just had to put eto'o in it, eh? :(

It seems as if Barcelona is afraid that Messi's performance in the WC might initiate a bidding war among several European clubs, and for that reason, they have decided to increase his current salary before the start of the WC. They are ready to pay 6 to 7 million Euros per season until 2014 so that Messi will continue to play for Barcelona. This is the third salary increase that Messi has received in just one year.

I don't think that's true.

Messi doesn't need a new contract. First, €150m buy-out clause. I doubt many teams want to pay €150m for a player. Second, he doesn't want to leave anyway.

The media say today that he may recover sooner and maybe he can play against Benfica.

Well, this is what I read from Marca and Ole from Argentina among others...

Edit: Nevermind, DT, I think you are right...In Ole they just said that the information was not true...

Here in Argentina there is a Rumour that Maxi Lopez will come on loan to River, to play the Libertadores, any news from the old Continent..?

Barça 2-0 Real Sociedad
Great plays from the boys today on those goals, specially Larsson (Y). And Van Bommel reaction on the second goal was priceless...

IMO he was a fool to make that choice to go to Barca at such a young age when there is way better talent and all he will do is ride the bench. He should of played in Benfica for atleast 2 years then made the move to Barca. But I don't blame him no one would say no to a move to Barca heh. I hope he gets more playing time because when I saw him playing against Chelsea last year's CL he made that SICK pass to Eto'o.

Expensive win. Márquez may miss Benfica, we'll know today, and we have Puyol suspended. Edmilson and Larsson also left injured. I think Larsson's nothing serious. Edmilson looks worse but nothing serious. He's suspended for the next game anyway.

Hmmm...Then Maxi insisted on the error by rejecting the possibility of being loaned for some time to some decent club in order to get experience and playtime, as panxoman mentioned when I first asked about him.

The injuries come in the worst moment. Barça will play in Lisbon without Puyol and Márquez. Besides, one of the replacements for the CB (Edmilson) is also injured. We'll have to play a LB, maybe Sylvinho, as a CB.

belletti even looks shakey at RB, i think i'd cry if he was playing in the middle. why dont we try motta as CB? he plays like puyol and marquez neway, so he might be able to do it.
