Xavi said yesterday that he hopes to be back in a month. That means that is we get to semis,we would have Messi and Xavi back.

that'd be feckin sweet.. I hope we'll be careful tho in the Q'finals. It'd be really fecked up if we'd lose at Benfica. But I've confidence in our squad of course that they'll make it to semis..

Greg: :o psst, 'Of course' are cursed words in CL!

;)

That's not to say if Barça plays beyond the hype and without fears we must be able to impose our football, exactly like we have just done.

And I am happy for Xavi, too. Hope he gets fit in time for showing his class at WC.

First of all, there's no chance of the team getting caught up in the hype. They've proved themselves resistant to it in the last round.

Second, we couldn't possibly be brought down by fear because there is none. If there's a team in the world that you should fear, it's Chelsea. And our players showed no fear at all. They surprised me a bit, to be honest. I expected at least some overreactions, but there weren't any. They played it very cool and it's the matter in which they disposed of the terrorists that makes me believe we're finally set to take the Champions League home.

As for Xavi, it would be awesome to see him back because I've forgot what it's like to watch him play.

I'm not saying that FCB will make it into the semi's guaranteed, i'm saying that i'm confident that they'll make it...

so the 'of course' was saying something about my confidence, not about fcb...

btw.. i hope for a win 2night against osasuna.. yesterdays draw between madrid and valencia was the perfect result for us. If we win tonight we'll have 12 points between us and real madrid and valencia...

If there is one team that can stop Barca in the CL this year, then I think that will be AC Milan, Chelsea has got the defence but no class striker, as for Milan has the better balance in defence and attack plus a few of the world's best strikers

oh well, we just had a tough week against chelsea, i guess it doesnt matter if we lose a game... it'll bring everyone a little bit closer to earth..

I didn't like the attitude from the start. Predictable in this CL week and after seeing that Real Madrid and Valencia aren't a big threat.

Then the ref.. unfair penalty and red card for Edmilson, 30 minutes with ten players and 2 goals down.

Anyway Barça can afford a game like this. After all we've lost only 1 point.

yeah, the attitude from the start wasn't very positive, and you could sense that the players were tired. which is understandable, and as DT said, we've only lost 1 point, so no big deal. more worrying perhaps is that edmilson and motta will now be suspended for the game against sociedad next saturday... :kader:

great news about xavi, but i have doubts about his recovering so soon. panoxman, where did you read his statement?

it's from an interview on the radio (www.rac1.net on thursday). It was Xavi who said that everything is going OK and that he hopes to be back in a month or a bit more. He'll be back to play semis, if we win Benfica...

Back to yesterday's game. There's a growing discussion about if Valdés is a good GK for us ... yesterday we lost due to his mistake a again.

I think he's a good GK but not an excelent GK. If you want to win in Europe you must have an excellent GK. The problem is: is there any good GK available to sign?

you can have Abbondanzieri for 10 dollars if you want... But anyways, you should take a look at Oscar Ustari (17 years old) very good goalkeeper from Independiente of Argentina. He is a very secure keeper and I am sure Barca could buy him for pennies compared to what they could spend on a goalkeeper that is already playing in Europe.

i dont mind valdes, he makes a few mistakes here and there but he is safe overall, we can definitely win europe if he just does well enough to contain the other team to a max of 1 goal, we have the attacking power to win if he does

I thought Valdés was very safe against Chelsea last week.

We can't doubt of Valdés everytime he makes a mistake.

Look at Reina. At Barça he wasn't better than Valdés. He was very talented, that was obvious, but he made terrible mistakes. It's impossible that a GK succeed at Barça with the amount of pressure they have to handle everytime they make a mistake. All the goalkeepers make mistakes.

Valdés made a mistake, ok. We could have gotten a point without that mistake. Big deal. I think there's no reason to overreact.

Panxo.. The last 2 CL winners: Dudek and V.Baia. I don't think we want to replace Valdés for Dudek or Baia.
