Compare and contrast- the snarling 'we were never beaten', the sarcastic, oh-so-clever comments and the ill-feeling from a certain team not a million miles, but definitely a few billion pounds away, and the dignity and class from Reo-Coker and Pardew after being beaten. More than that, after being beaten in a game where they took it to us, didn't hide, didn't **** around with stifling and ridiculous tactics. Their fans, players and manager are an object lesson in how to approach, play and accept the result of a game with the class we expect of our own.
While the plastic, fair weather johnny-come-lately's and their expensive whores celebrate a hollow, dull, ground out league championship, tip a glass to a club with style, history and class far beyond what can be bought. And then refill it for a club that in 5 years has participated in 3 of the greatest finals of all time.

Got to say my opinion of liverpool fans has defintely changed after todays game.....
When we picked up our runners up metals the liverpool fans all gave a continious clap until everyone of our players had picked up his metal...thought it showed true class there.
Another thing i've never seen before is the liverpool players game round to the West Ham section and clapped all the fanswith the trophy... Shocked Shocked ....couldnt f**king believe it...And west ham fans which 70% clapped the liverpool players.

And as we were walking away from the stadium the Liverpool fans in the hotels on the other side of the river clapped us all the way and leant over the railings to shake our hands....
Made you want to cry. I did.

Completely agree, I was really impressed with the Liverpool team and fans.
Granted many people weren't so pleased with the tactics of Sissoko etc, but the way that the team came around to our side and applauded us for our efforts was something I don't think I've seen before. It was a great display of sportsmanship and good to see they took the effort when they could have spent their time gloating with their own fans.
Also, I had lots of positive experiences throughout the day with Liverpool fans. Before the game, had a few wishing us and after the game, some really kind words. One told me the "better team lost" and others wished us luck for the UEFA Cup next season. The fans did their team proud, just like we did for West Ham...well, those who stayed until the VERY end that is.

Not sure what that comment about "those fans who stayed" is all about. Not many left for a long time after.
I hadn't seen the winners come round to the losing fans and applaud each other before. That's because that end of the ground is usually empty by then. Ours was still mostly full.
OK that's mostly because we waited for our guys to find the energy to come round to us, but we also applauded Liverpool and it fitted with the sort of game it was.
I was in the South End and as our players came round, Scaloni was last. Two or three times he just stopped and looked up in amazement at all our fans and the noise we were still making, shaking his head like he couldn't believe it. I guess in Spain the fans would have been booing, or long gone.
