May seem easy for Portugal. Not. Poland and Serbia are very hard...and that was shown with England and Spain...Belgium we never now what can happen, and don't take out finland.

Group of Death = B

The rest...well...it looks very much even...maybe Netherlands is in the best group IMO.

are you Portuguese serious with your complaining about your group?

You play 3 joke teams, I dont care if its in a tough location, Kazakhstan is still Kazakhstan.

Italy on the otherhand actually has a tough group, but I dont care, should be exciting.

Poland
Serbia-Montenegro
Belgium

all these teams have legit aspirations to qualify, yes, they're not powerhouses but Serbia for instance finished above Spain in the qualifying group for the WC...

Finland has a good team on their days too, I remember they battered us in a friendly before the Euro in Portugal 4 - 1

the definition of an easy group is England's group.

WTF is it with the Dutch and us :|, i'm tired of it...

The group could of been a lot worse. I consider Romania to be one step above all the other teams in the group (cept for Holland) but knowing us we're gonna f*ck it up somehow :nape:.

PS: Can someone please explain to me what the requirements are to qualify other than winning the group?

Yeah, never forgot that (Simão also got a very serious injury in this game), but it was actually before the 2002 WC, with the "great" António Oliveira... :( It was a warning sign of what was to come.

The seven runners-up will qualify.

Bulgaria is on the same level as Romania in my opinion but a bit more experienced.

Yup, I remember the "OLEEEE"...that was quite sad...even I said that in my sofa...it was one of the worst exhibitions I have ever seen from any team...

Mikey: You forgot. We play 3 joke teams. But they also do.

Yup. I realized that after remembering that this is a co-hosted tourney so two teams are already in meaning that only 14 more are needed and since there are 7 groups the winners and the runners up are automatically through, no more playoffs :jap:

Personally I think there are negative warning signs now with Ricardo in net. I fully expect us to suffer in the WC thanks to his amatuer GK skills, thankfully we have some exellent defenders in Carvalho and Andrade. I'm actually pretty nervous about it though...

Chill, we will get injured and Quim will take over

[/dream mode]

Now for real, I am also worried about it. Maybe we should naturalize Moretto, just a great GK over there... :chew:

It's really discouraging, frankly. There are like 10 Portuguese liga GK's I'd take over Ricardo, just anyone who can gather a cross and not f*ck-up so bloody much would be a better option.

Pretty sad when the Lichtenstein keeper that played against us is even better..

our group is really hard, regardless. those eastern European teams are always dangerous away. Hopefully some of the other contenders have some accidents along the way, like we often do

are you sure?
I also had the idea that the match vs Finland was a Euro2004 warm up, and Scolari was our coach already.
now I'm confused (:/)

not an easy group at all for Portugal. but hey, no biggie.
we have enough talent to be there in 2008, and even if the group was any different (for example with nothing but powerhouses facing us) I'd think the same way.

Bring them on :rockman:

Too true...it won' t be a cakewalk but there are probably three teams that would rather be in Portugal' s position than their own.

100% sure. I remember the game vividly. And here is the confirmation:

Game 395, 27.03.2002, Porto, vs FINLAND, 1-4, Coach - António Oliveira, Scorer - Sérgio Conceição

IMO the worst game I ever saw from our NT. António Oliveira was such a crappy coach, I can't understand how on earth people don't criticize him not even 1/4 compared to what they do to Scolari, while this one is much better and has had the best results ever for our NT.

Help?

heh, you are not alone here. Belarus in same group as Holland for EURO 96, same group as Holland for World Cup 2002 and now same group as Holland for EURO 08.
