Bobby post was spot on (L). I really feel for McClaren he is the one thats going to get crucified by the press. The players need to bear some of the blame.

True, only McClaren is getting kicked in the arse because England didn't qualify

and now i could quote what Bobby said....

I didn't really understand, why didn't Beckham 'fit in' McClaren's plans? He came in as a substitute and England quickly equalised
But if England doesn't need Beckham then what can we say.....

Maybe, but they (the FA) cant even use that as an excuse. It was their decision to play a friendly last friday. To play your best goal scorer from the start when he is so injury prone and made out of glass is simply moronic.

Masters of our own downfall all the way to the last game.
I meant Hargreaves, matt.

This is probably the first time in my life that i'm somewhat happy that England didn't make it to the major tournament. All years before that i would support them in hope of them actually winning something. But i just got sick of all these superstars talking about how great they are and worrying about how much money they get paid. Maybe sitting this one out, will make them realize that the are rated so highly because of all the other workhorses on their teams that make it easy for them. And also this is maybe the best thing that could have happened to England in the long-run. The FA, the media and the players need a strong reality check, like the one they got this time. And maybe now the FA will actually chose a manager that will build a team for his tactic, not a tactic for his team. Individually, England has one of the best teams in the world and that's the problem.

It's not the foreign players fault. It's the England players fault. They're more concerned with their next orgy than they are winning the next match. More concerned with the latest fashions than improving their touch. Would rather hit the nightclubs than spend another night training and pushing themselves to be the best....

mUCH OF that(except for the Crouch bit) could have been said immediately following the last 3 major tournaments. And also the personality(and hence gameplan) of the manager comes into play.

I am very much sad we won't be there, no matter how much they say not many tickets are available to fans it's always brilliant to see the stadiums full of St George's flag for England games.

But at the same time truly believe this is a good thing in the long run. We have no divine right to qualify.

Finally someone who hasn't got their head up their ass with the whole "certain-teams-belong-there" wankfest. Teams that qualify belong there, end of.

England don't deserve to be at Euro 2008 because they simply weren't good enough, they had their destiny put in their hands due to the Russian slip-up at the weekend but they failed to capitalise when it mattered. Never mind the two defeats to Croatia, or the loss in Russia, the result that undid them the most was the 0-0 draw at home to Macedonia, a result that I said at the time could well come back and bite them on the arse. You could argue that in missing out on qualification by a single point, that result, in effect, did so.

Can I also just add... David Beckham. I've always like him as a player, a professional, a role model, a father etc. but last night he was the only player to stay back and applaud the fans. It meant a huge deal to me he did this after my friends and I had shelled out £75 each to watch that hollow mockery. So basically from now on he'll be a true hero of mine.

See, i disagree with that. England were good enough imo. The players that play there got more talent than countries like Russia or Croatia could dream of. The problem was their mentality. They knew they were good, so they didn't bother caring. For most of the players, they looked at it like a well-paid vacation with some kickabout soccer in between, after a long hard season for their club.

Roy Keane was right when he said, that the players think about their clubs more. Club level football is becoming much bigger than international level and i have been saying that for a number of years now. Why do you think all the smaller nations start to perform better and better all the time and then go to club level and become a nobody again?

Matt: A second striker was definietly missing yesterday and i think Michael Owen would compliment SWP better than Crouch.

Cant wait for the world cup. I hope this is just the kick we need to get things sorted. Hasn't been right for the last few competitions.

I just hope the players and people in the relevant positions get there heads out there arse's and get it done.

fingers crossed. Summers going to be boring!!

and to quote someone...

France and England failed to qualify for World Cup USA '94. Since then France has won one world cup, one Euro championship, numerous age group championships and have been beaten finalist in both Euro and world cup. England, on the other hand, have won ZILCH. So why is this? Easy, the French licked their wound, looked introspectively at their state of affairs and went back to the basics of talent nurturing. We continued to live in the shadows of 1966 - deluded and desperately clutching at utopian straws!

That quote hits the nail on the head........ blame the terribly Anglocentric media and the old-fashioned bigwigs at the FA for having such delusions of grandeur.

The worst part was giving up three goals, just poor, Bridge played decent imo though.

You gotta be kidding... He played Olic on-side for the second goal, and almost got raped big time in the middle of the second half that probably could give Croatia a third goal earlier... not to mention the brilliant lob over Carson that hit the bar...

I don't even like England but it makes me ******* sick to see players piss talent up the wall and still get millions in cash and praise from the media. If you're going to live that life you better damn well back it up with results. Like T.O. does in the NFL, he talks ****, but nobody can shut him up because he kills himself everyday to make sure he's the best. Chelsea's success isn't down to "Lamps" and "JT" it's down to Drogba, Makelele, Essien and Cech. I could score all those goals from midfield if I had two of the best players in the world beside me like Lampard does. Logic says if you shoot the ball 50 times one of those ****ers is going in.

Kolo Toure never went out to movies when he was a kid, instead he'd sneak into the training ground at night and work his ******* ass off. Look at him now, Arsenal fans adore that man, Arsene Wenger can't describe him in words. At the end of the day he goes home and sits with his wife and kids after training longer than the club expects him to. He's not in the nightclubs, he's not drinking, he's not up until 4am and hitting the training ground drunk and tired the next day.

This is why the foreign players are coming in, this is why Peter Crouch has fetched 12m in transfer fees. His height as something to do with it, yes, but his work ethic is what puts him over the top. There isn't a harder working English player today, there used to be, but he's the last of the Mohicans. Call him names all you want, you won't find an English player who wants it as badly as him., despite his frame's obvious set backs when it comes to running, he manages to cover more ground on average than any English player in the Premier League. Any.

Beckham is another one, he may be a pretty boy, but he cares. When he cries it's not for TV, he's really hurting.

Bring in guys like Campbell, Ledley King and Scott Parker and toss "Lamps" out like the trash he is.
Conclusion : let's rape the WAGS and kill them...

Oh yeah, that's another positive thing about England being out, no more news about how WAGS spending 1 million pounds in less than an hour just to buy a pair of new shoes...

I hate WAGS...

Coleen, Cheryl, Victoria, kill them all...

Wow i missed the wayne bridge played decent comment. Are you purposefully trying to make a point of supporting a chelsea player, because i think he was possibly the worst player on the pitch. Some of the balls he played left me gasping for air due to the sheer lack of common sense used. Just hoofing pointless ball after pointless ball around the pitch in a Lampard kind of way.

That was Lescott. Yeah, Bridge had a shocking game. I don't understand how he is included in the squad if Ashley Cole is starting in almost every Chelsea game.

Talking a load of inacurate bollocks as usual Bobby. Your prejudice gets in the way of everything you have to say, but your mates here will still suck up to you, so what do you care huh?

So who are the England players who are out clubbing every night or indulging in orgies? I think you are confusing English players with Brazilian players there mate.

Typical Arsenal mug

BTW, did anyone else think Croatia went in a little bit too motivated for a match that didn't really matter for them? Perhaps mr. Abramovich offered them some cash. :)

A few things motivated our players:

- England's arrogance
- a chance to say "We conquered Wembley"
- Israel's attitude against Russia
- The treatment received in England, Srebrić's arrest included.

I've never been so happy to win a completely irrelevant match.

"Lamps" and all those other world class superstars aren't fit to lick the toilet seat for Luka Modrić to sit on. Harry Redknap can f*ck off, as well.

And you talk about arrogance. You muppet.

So Croatia beat England while they were at their weakest. Big fu<king deal. Its a shame that your patriotism does not allow you to follow a Croatian team you glory hunting hypocrite. At least in England we all follow a team that actually plays in our country. Some loyal Croatian you are pal.

All that shows me is that the standard of football in Croatia is dog s.h.it. Man even your best players at Wembly PLAY IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE FFS. The same goes for the Irish, Scottish and Welsh players. Playing in the English League is the reason why so many non English players, and their National teams have progressed so well. You would know that if you had a brain.

Maybe we should do ourselves a favour and kick the lot of you out of our country.

Who the fu<k was Bilic until he came to England huh? A fu<king nobody thats who. You thick third world dick.

You dont like the English, but oh yeah, your players are happy to prostitute themselves for English money. Hypocrites.

You have a good run of games and suddenly you tossers think you are Brazil.

Man you are the arrogant one.

You read one article written by one English wanker and suddenly you judge the whole of England by that dick head. It does not surprise me though because as long as you have been on these forums you have always been a prick. I just didn't realise until now just how ignorant you really are.

Modric???? He's another one who cant wait to play in England. He's begging every day to come here. Another prostitute who is happy to take English money.

Fu<king muppet.
