Drogba - "waaahh, I wanna leave"

His attitude/performances (yes, the diving too) haven't impressed me.

Want a hero, look for an example like Alan Shearer, excuse my bias. Matt Le Tissier? Cantona?

These players are heros, Drogba doesn't come close in my opinion, sorry.

Youre right on alot of other accounts but youre dead wrong there. In his interviews he is mumed and quiet and very humble with what he says. When he is on, he is a total team player and celebrates team first. The best games he has are the ones where he doesnt even score. Two or three times this year he has had absolute blinders where he repeatedly fools the defense or sucks them in onto him and then finds the open man to bury it. That aspect of his play I will miss

All that said

He was expensive, and though he delivered 30+ goals in two straight seasons, he has been a PR disaster for the team. How the f*ck can you be mad about people calling you a cheat when you essentially admitted to it. Drogba needs to suck it up and grow some thicker skin to survive in a major media market then. The sad thing is, he is good enough NOT to cheat, as he is huge and could just run defenders over with his size, but rather than see alot of plays through he would rather make a meal out of minimal contact. Its a sad fact that this hurts his team more than him, both with the shame it brings and because, without question, his best games have all of zero dives for him. I wish he could see that

I liked Drogba. He fights his heart out for Chelsea, even if he is embarrassing many times. But apparrently Aulas is in love with him, and Lyon are resigned to losing Carew. Supposedly he has mentioned a 20m+ bid for Drogba, and if thats the case, thanks for the two seasons, and enjoy yourself in France, Didi. He is a brilliant target man to be paired with, but playing by himself he is far more helpless, and his finishing lets him down. He's 28 now, and I dont see that changing. So Jose, let him go, and lets go after Tevez and someone else from Italy (Shevchenko isnt coming)

and thats my four or five cents on the matter

PR disaster: yes. A lot of people have lowered thier opinions on Chelsea because of him.

I'll cop the rest :)

Well, he's a hero for Marseille, good, but what does that have to do with the fact that in England he acts the way he does?

IMHO for that money, Chelsea could have got a much better player, and by that I mean a player with a better attitude towards the game who also does his job on the field...

Forget how much he costs. Why go on about the cost? The price your club pays for a player is relative to how stinking rich your club is. Sure it might be a lot of money to YOUR club but not to Chelsea, so the price they paid is irrelevent.

Anyhow Balla summed it all up pretty well. Now what Drog ought to do is take the critisism on board, and work his pants off to redeem himself in the eyes of all football fans. Running away from all this is the cowards way out. If thats what he wants to do, instead of being a man and fronting this out, then Jose ought to let him go.

Knowing Jose, he has already told Drogba not to be a coward and to stay, hold his head up and work hard to EARN peoples respect. We will see where this goes I guess, all in good time.

To be honest though, If Drogba was a Liverpool or an Arsenal player, he would never had attracted such a poisonous and nasty assasination of his character. He has been no worse than Pires at the height of his cheating but did Pires get mullered like Drogba? Its the Chelsea factor that makes ALL the difference.

well we do take the piss out of - Pires/Kewell/Reyes/C.Ronaldo/RNV and even Gerrard and Drogba is no different.
The only difference is he puts in a nice little scream whenever he falls over - to make it uber realistic. Good riddance to bad rubbish, now Chelsea may even get some decent strikers and we'll be seeing an unstopabble force next year.

It massively inflates the transfer market. Pre-Abramovich you know Drogba would never fetch that kind of money. An inflated transfer market is good for Chelsea but it trickles its way down the pyramid to a stage where you find league 2 players being brought for stupid money.

Excessive spending like that is only bad for the game in the long run.

English players were overpriced long before Roman arrived in England. To insinuate that Chelsea's transfer spending has caused English players to become too expensive is rot. Wenger was saying that English players cost too much 9 years a go mate.

Sure, pre Roman, Drogba's selling club would never demanded so much money for him. They took the piss because they knew we could pay it. We get stung its true, but if Newcastle would have been interested in Drogba instead of Chelsea, the price would STILL have been much lower. The inflated prices only affect us and not any other club.

I wasn't talking about the fans giving the players stick. Of course we all do that. Its the media pressure i was talking about. Thats the big difference. That's what does the damage. The media do not focus on other divers and cheats as much as they concentrate on and inflate, any small incident that a Chelsea player MAY be involved in.

Did we see the back pages screaming CHEATS, the morning after the CL final in regards to Eboue? No we did not. The press might have vaguely mentioned the fact he dived but it was well hidden and glossed over within the rest of the story. With us, that dive would have been the complete story with the previously mentioned headline.

Joe cole for arsenal.
Seriously- where does the Ballack signing put Cole, has mourinho decided to forget wide men. Would he play upfront, it could happen - if so, fu(k Drogba.
Allow Drogba to Arsenal ; they have enough forwards - adebayor/van persie/henry/walcott/reyes sometimes.

according to club sources, Joe Cole has recieved a fat extension that will make him one of the higher paid players at the club (3 years, 70k I think) so I dont think anyone has forgotten about him

Conjecture tells me we are going to play something like this next year

-----------Makelele (obvious)

----------------Ballack (pulling the stings in midfield)
Cole (with room)--Lampard (up front maurading for goals)
----------------------------------Robben/Duff
------------Tevez (future blues legend)

or something like that, you get the idea

I want him at Arsenal.

I don't care what people think about him, that bitch scores goals.

and therein lies the problem. Drogba is the prototypical guy you love to hate, except when he plays for your team

Is Tevez a target man though?

I may be a critic of Drogba but he does win the long balls and holds up play.

Yes, and that is why he deserves the stick he gets in my opinion.

When it comes down to it, he is a quality player and striker, but he almost always choses the easy way out, he choses to be a drama queen, when he could beat players with footballing ways. And for that he deserves all the criticism that goes his way.

Not really, he's quite short and isn't the strongest. He's skillful, fast, great control all that.

But he's not winning 50-50s against Premiership defenders. I assume they'll use Crespo for that.
