It's more like 1 million a week, unless you saw something different in the contract.
My point's that neither MLS nor LA are paying him 1 million a week.

He's getting 100% of his image rights. Madrid owned 50%, about 22 million a year.

i hope soccer is more popular in the U.S. but our American Football will always be our prominent national sport.
This is a great first step though.

Who gave you rights to call FOOTBALL as soccer??? They don't even play with their feets!!! Your "footballers" doesn't even do 10%, what rugby players do without those stupid helmets and armour.:jambo:

No. His career nosedived when Fattie Furguson realised that Beckham was more popular than him and sacked him.

I just love the way "so called" Man U fans slag him off. Do you actually realise all that he did for your poxy club. Not just his contribution to those trophy's that you like to boast about, but financially too? Jealous tossers.

I agree a lot of man Utd fans slag him off. Even Ruud as well to show they are behind the manager 100%. But i'll never slag him off thats for sure. Any player that has played for United even Veron and Forlan i'll always be grateful for their efforts. Its not good slagging off former players. It makes you look like a hypocrite.

You shoulda heard talksport today man. It was a pathetic joke and the presenter was being a bit of an idiot. They seem to forget all hes achieved with United and how he helped England in times of adversity. Jealousy and Envy is not good for the soul. People should relax and focus on more important issues like themselves. Hes made it and his career is done. Hes gona chill out after and help his foundations and do some minor work. More importantly hes had a more than decent career. Hes not stressin so why are people stressing???

Loads of United fans slag off former players. But thats not a good idea. Because rival fans will say what clowns the same guys that licked his arse when he was banging in freekicks and getting 25 assists a season!

Beckham doesn't hold a candle to that coddled crybaby Donovan. As soon as things got tough for him at Bayer Leverkusen, he turned tail and headed back to America. As a result, he has no mental toughness whatsoever and cannot handle adversity. It woudn't suprise me if he spends the rest of his career in MLS.

Donovan is a pussy. :bob:

Anywayz on Beckham I truly have to hand it to him. Brilliant in agreeing to this deal. No need to relist the benefits for his pocketbook, his image, his family, etc.

If soccer really takes off in the states and more players follow his lead into jumping to the MLS with all of its benefits then he will cement his place in US history. Ok, maybe not so much, this Iraq thing is pretty important right now, but on the soccer level, theirs already talk of Davids wanting to make the switch. Can you see another "NASL-esque" Renaissance?

The MLS had to make this move. Interest in the sport at the highest level was going through a rough patch after a poor US display in the WC. I really think that Beckham's name can singlehandedly swing footie in the right direction.

But the most important thing has to be that with all of this added media attention worldwide to the MLS that it really encourages the other players in the league to really go out their a make a mark in hopes of going abroad, gaining "higher quality" experience, boosting the level of the national team, boosting the performance of the youth levels... you got the idea...:jambo:

No, it's because your a Barcelona fan.

Good luck to Beckham in the MLS, at least he was very professional which a lot of people seem to not understand. I wonder if Ronaldo is next...we can all hope:(

MLS only pays $400,000; the rest is paid through sponsors and the LA Galaxy itself, which pays up until the maximum salary.
