Beckham doesn't hold a candle to that coddled crybaby Donovan. As soon as things got tough for him at Bayer Leverkusen, he turned tail and headed back to America. As a result, he has no mental toughness whatsoever and cannot handle adversity. It woudn't suprise me if he spends the rest of his career in MLS.

Anywayz on Beckham I truly have to hand it to him. Brilliant in agreeing to this deal. No need to relist the benefits for his pocketbook, his image, his family, etc.

If soccer really takes off in the states and more players follow his lead into jumping to the MLS with all of its benefits then he will cement his place in US history. Ok, maybe not so much, this Iraq thing is pretty important right now, but on the soccer level, theirs already talk of Davids wanting to make the switch. Can you see another "NASL-esque" Renaissance?

The MLS had to make this move. Interest in the sport at the highest level was going through a rough patch after a poor US display in the WC. I really think that Beckham's name can singlehandedly swing footie in the right direction.

But the most important thing has to be that with all of this added media attention worldwide to the MLS that it really encourages the other players in the league to really go out their a make a mark in hopes of going abroad, gaining "higher quality" experience, boosting the level of the national team, boosting the performance of the youth levels... you got the idea...
