IMO Inter are pissing thier title hopes away with this one. There is always money to be made off players but if you want to win trophies you have to shun the money sometimes and stick with your players. One world class striker like Vieri is not gonna do it (as we have seen for the last three years). I was so excited about this season but I don't even want to watch. To watch them struggle for 2nd, 3rd or 4th place again will be hard to bare. I with Vieri, Inter should be buying great players not selling them, the might as well just sell him too. Thier ideas seem to be heading in the wrong direction and I feel let down as a fan. When they sold Ronaldo that sucked but then they got Crespo so that was good. Now what are they doing?

The deal is almost done and Vieri told la Gazzetta dello sport that if Crespo leaves, he'd want to leave also.;)

MASSIMO MORATTI EXPLAINS CRESPO TRANSFER NEGOTIATIONS
Friday, 22 August 2003 15:51:22
MILAN - Inter president Massimo Moratti explained the situation which is leading to the transfer of Hernan Crespo to Chelsea. "We have six strikers and one full-back, so perhaps we need to buy for positions where we're weak," he said.

But why sell Crespo ? Moratti: "We're very strong in attack. It's the only department in which we're not damaged. This choice regards a player that, among other things, had a demand: the guarantee of a first-team place. And when you see the players that Inter have in that department you certainly couldn't harm other footballers. Fixed regulars? Only Vieri is."

Moratti continued, "I preferred a choice of this kind rather than resort to other solutions." And the transfer market? "I still haven't spoken to the people who are in charge of the buying and selling of players." When asked whether Hector Cuper had anything to do with Crespo 's choice, the Nerazzurri president replied candidly, "No, he has nothing to do with this matter."

Its looking most likely he will go, though it would be his choosing....

While Abramovich's spending might not bring instant success, it will almost certainly put his team into contention.

Abramovich had no intention into buying a club in the Serie A, probably partly because he cannot speak Italian, and also he wants his sons to be put through public schools in England.

Chelsea was an ideal opportunity for him. A club, relatively cheap, in the capital of England. It has a history of attracting big name players (Gullit, Vialli, Zola, etc.) and already had a fairly good squad. He apparently looked at Tottenham before but in the end chose the Stamford Bridge outfit.

He didn't exactly spend all his money on Serie A players. Remember Bridge, Joe Cole, Glen Johnson? They're all Englishmen. Geremi is a Cameroonian who has spent a season in England, so he hasn't just been plucking players out from the Serie A.

One of the reasons, I think, that Chelsea bought a lot of players from the Serie A is because they have an Italian coach in Ranieri, and also many big Serie A clubs are in financial trouble and so has to sell.

Crespo is ownage, if they get him and Ranieri manages to build a team instead of a bunch of star players, they will certainly finish at least top 3 in the EPL.
