well 1st thing try to get the pics exactly the same for a start, same camera, height, distance, weather, time of day, same resolution, before we start comparing atleast, then lets have a look, look at how much bigger the PES shot is, come on, lets get real
i have made some similar screenshots

The far pics have been resized from 1024x768 to 800x600, the closeups have been cropped and all of the pics have compressed to save space because the bmps were 9mb. 6xaa and 16xaf were on, and highest settings in fifa.

FIFA's graphics are way better, looks like an actual game from a HDTV screen with high resolution.
I wonder why my fanboyometer is going crazy :nape:
Firstly you wont find graphics anything like pes3s on a ps1, and secondly you will be lucky to see a football game that looks real on a console in 15 years from now.

:funny: Still comparing PES3 to Fifa 2005. Graphically, PES4 is a massive improvement over PES3 and Fifa 2005 for that matter, but you will see this in due time...:mrpimp:

From the screenshots PES4 seems just like PES3 with improved lighting. I can't see the huge improvement in the screenshots. Players models seem exactly the same, as do the crowds. Perhaps I will see the difference when I get the game.

But FIFA's main draw isn't just graphics. I would say FIFA wins in all areas except gameplay. Sound is a million times better IMO. Then there's the licensing. When I buy these games for the console will Arsenal have their proper kits like in those screenshots in PES4? I know it can be created but will take some fuss.

And IMO FIFA's gameplay isn't far behind PES's gameplay anymore. Overally when I put everything together I rate both games pretty even. PES with a lot of patching is probably the ideal football game though.

:| :| :| I'll post a few screenshots to prove that statement is not true at all. Anyway when you actually play the game you will notice it's not just lighting that's improved. Anyway I'll prove my point, I'll show a screenshot of PES3, followed by a screenshot of PES4.

Nice work Patrick, now thats what im talking about, thats a good comparison. OK anyone that says FIFA is superior in the graphics department, i think you can eat your words right here and now, honestly, FIFA2005 versus, is it WE8 or PES3?......The two close ups are so close, my preference is the top pic and that is PES, the one under that is definately 2005, the PES colours for the strips are alot crisper and the colours in general have more blue tones in them, FIFA use warmer colours, the grass textures are a little clearer in the FIFA pic but the actual colours play their part, but look at the guy in the blue Carlos*et in the very top pic in the background, looks detailed and well rendered for a distant image dont it? now i know as far as quality of graphics go they are very close and its only a matter of personal taste, im sure you will all agree with that, realistically. PES colours are crisper FIFA,s are warmer and a little more natural, but this can be altered by your screen setup anyway, player models are very similar, grass textures better slightly in FIFA pic and shadows stronger, higher contrast in the FIFA pic, could be the time of day and stadium, goal posts in FIFA look like they have a shine to them but the nets in PES shot to me look a little better.................ok lets all take note that we are not even dealing with PES4 either.

The other shots from a distance show the same qualities, PES more blue tones, and the same quality of image, look at the players, very similar except for the colour tones, but look at them they are very close, good work dude and anyone who is honest could not seriously disagree. :hump:

Those pictures do look good. I'm more talking about the in game screenshots. To me there seems no huge difference. Of course you expect some improvement over a year, and there is some, but nothing major.

But I agree there's no huge difference with graphics of either game. Both are pretty even to me. It was a PES guy trying to prove a point who started this thread. I've never said that FIFA's graphics are better than PES graphics.

(1) I am not a "PES" guy, anymore than I was a "FIFA guy" since the days of FIFA on 3D0 to last year; I am looking at the reality of what we've been offered and what the nidustry continues to offer.

(2) That "both are pretty even" is exactly and precisely my point.

(3) YOU may not have argued the vast superiority of FIFA graphics, but you also ought not deny that that sensibility is one that is promoted often on the FIFA boards.

Off the shelf, FIFA's package may outdo PES3 or 4 (thus the kit /graphics/ chant patches); Off the shelf, I think that PES regularly smacks FIFA's gameplay (thus the FIFA gameplay patches)...

FIFA may - MAY - have improved in gameplay; PES3 was ALWAYS the match of FIFA in terms of graphics capability, as the myriad screens above demonstrate. That is the point of this thread.

1. Ok, you're not a PES guy. I was mistaken.

2. Glad we agree. :)

3. I say what I feel about FIFA. I won't deny my feelings about it. Having said that I love PES as well. I take every game as it is, forget the name/company and if I like it I'll play it.

But yes, you have proven your point. As we agree there's not much difference in graphics. I'm looking forward to comparing graphics on my console though.

really? never played it, post few shots of that stunning NHL 2k5 graphics :p

I suppose hockey game can spend more CPU power at rendering graphics coz there are less players on the ice (hockey - 10?, footbal - 22 +1 ref) and the whole "pitch" is much smaller than football stadium pitch

//edit: nevermind found it
not so spectacular to saying pes4 and fifa 2k5 graphics is totally crap...

Of course the graphics will look good in a Hockey game, you get to see flashy reflections off the helmets, boots and ice. And as Mayor said, less players playing too.
