No, the plane crash was in 1958, but they were relegated in 1974. Between that, they won the European Cup in 1968.

ok ok... how do u no that this book is 100% correct? because i do know they finished in last place but im PRETTY sure they didnt play in the 2nd division (at the time)

At the end of the season it was decided that the League would be expanded to 22 clubs. Instead of keeping the two clubs that finished bottom, a vote was taken. Woolwich Arsenal, who finished 5th in the Second Division, gained promotion to the First Division at the expense of Tottenham Hotspur who were relegated. Woolwich Arsenal then moved to North London (dropping the Woolwich in their name) to become local rivals for Tottenham.

Chelsea were relegated but voted back in.


so arsenal played in div 2 for 2 yrs

Arsenal played in the 2nd division in season 1913-14. Then the following season the football was rudely interrupted by Germans trying to get their hands on the countries in Eastern Europe.

Most of the brazilian top sides were never relegated... our national championship is fairly new (it started in 1971) and there were several opportunities in which rules were changed so that big clubs wouldn't be relegated...

saints have never been relegated frm the top flight. promoted in in 1976 after they finished 2nd in div 2 (now div 1). have been in Div1/Premiership ever since.

struggled alot until recently... but never been relegated :D

btw everton are the longest club in top flight enlglish football. 101 years this season. never been relegated, so that's only three clubs in the whole top flight: Arsenal, Southampton & Everton
